OUT OF CHARACTER INFORMATION
The Prophet Sonic Crowd DisperserPRODUCTION INFORMATION
It is the unfortunate truth that public perception of law enforcement will never cease to find brutality where non-lethality is the sole objective. A body of governance can arm officers with the lowest calibur slug available, and then with cello-plast rubber rounds, and then remove slug-throwers entirely in favor of stun blasters, and then stun batons fitted with industry locks to limit their maximum charge, it doesn't matter. Give every officer a shield to emphasize their largely defensive tactics, encourage the use of smokes and other agents to disperse civilians without direct confrontation, it changes nothing.
Despite criminals and terrorists giving themselves no such handicaps, and not holding back in the name of goodwill, such bad actors will always be heralded as role-models. When they are finally apprehended, they are clamored for as heroes. When they are unintentionally injured or killed in violent altercations that they instigate, they are praised as martyrs.
No slain peacekeeper, meanwhile, is ever painted as graffiti on a city wall; her name is not chanted at rallies. His face is never spread across the HoloNet. Their lost potential and vibrant personalities are never mourned. Nevermind the families they leave behind, never mention how heart-breakingly young they were. The only memorial ever raised to their memory is a grave marker, and a clean dress uniform presented to their shattered loved ones.
Such is the dilemma; seemingly the only way to placate public opinion towards law enforcement is to equip them with progressively less and less effective equipment against deadly and merciless foes whose rare deaths are wailed and raged at, while our humble heroes slip quietly and tragically from life as a result of these unfair contests.
Enough is enough. CorpSec and Sable Interplanetary have joined forces once again, to say NO MORE and end the terrible cycle. Non-Lethality of equipment does not have to mean that our brave men and women in uniform are placed in greater danger as a result. This is our mission. This is our creed. And that is the thesis behind the Prophet.
A single Prophet sonic rifle can render an entire mob of frenzied radicals incapable of fighting near instantaneously, encouraging peaceful de-escalation without endangering the lives of courageous CorpSec officers. Now, CorpSec can quickly immobilize and arrest rabble-rousing terrorists without harming the crowds of innocents that they radicalize to further their own political agendas. With two distinct firing modes suited for different scenarios, the Prophet is more than a step into the future. It's a step towards Peace, Through Security.
- Intent: To create a non-lethal weapon for CorpSec that can incapacitate an entire violent mob in short order, without utilizing chemical agents.

- Two-Headed Rat Viper: The Prophet can be quickly switched between two distinct firing modes, called Anti-Personnel and Field Cast. 'Anti Personnel' performs much like a standard high-output Sonic Blaster: the blast of concentrated soundwaves is capable of knocking several people prone in one shot and causing temporary hearing loss, but require a long charging process of wave amplification before firing again. The second firing mode, 'Field Cast' is the Prophet's trademark feature. By firing a continuous stream of low-potency sonic waves, the Prophet causes extreme discomfort to any being not insulated against sonic waves. Nausea, splitting headaches, disorientation, ringing in the ear, and loss of balance are typical reactions to the Prophet's Field Cast, which can be fired continuously over a large area of effect, hence the moniker.
- I Came Prepared: Also available for purchase with the Prophet is a custom-made power cell bank meant to be worn on the back of the operator or a partner. This much larger cell allows the Prophet to go for days of regular use without a recharge, though the bank on its own is about as heavy as the actual blaster.
- Incapacitate: The Prophet's Field Cast is capable of nonlethally rendering large groups of people incapable of fighting, largely without causing any real or major harm. Meanwhile, the Anti-Personnel setting can non-lethally knock multiple sentients prone in a single shot. In either mode, the Prophet is a PR agent's dream come true; a weapon designed to be as effective as possible while doing the least damage.
- Can't Shut Up: The Field Cast setting releases a continuous stream of sonic waves, and can fire, or 'broadcast' for hours without pause or issue.
- Hefty Package: A heavy gun with a heavier optional power pack, the Prophet is a difficult weapon to deploy quickly on foot to a public safety hazard, or utilize in the pursuit of a fleeing terrorist without the use of some means of transportation.
- Structural Risk: The continuous waves of the Prophet's Field Cast could theoretically compromise urban infrastructure after prolonged bombardment. This weapon must be used with caution in all situations.
