As the Imperium’s influence spreads through the Core, their enemies have become varied and, more often than not, capable of dealing significant damage to the fledgling nation. Increasingly aware of their military fragility, the House of Lords approved an industrialization campaign for the express purpose of bolstering the Grand Imperial Navy to better defend against threats from beyond the Core.

A joint investment by the Ministries of Industry and Defense allotted a handsome sum toward the goal. Numerous production contracts and increased training regiments at the prestigious Anaxes Naval War College pushed the Imperium closer and closer toward the security they desired, but with more funds than anticipated, it was ultimately decided a special project was warranted. And so, the renowned shipwrights of Republic Engineering Corporation were contracted by the ministries to design and construct a vessel that would become the first great flagship of the Imperium’s newly organized naval forces.

Christened as The Providence in reverence of the goddess Ashla, the Monarch-class Star Dreadnought serves as not only the centrepiece of the Grand Imperial Navy but as a symbol of the nation’s newfound strength and unity.
