AGE: 16

SEX: Male

HEIGHT: 5’7”

BUILD: Skinny as a rail

VOICE: Kevin Levin from Ben 10: Alien Force

CONNECTIONS:
Jen Rand - mother
Zabka Bis'clavret - father (probably dead, idk)
Silo-Hur - stepfather
Jacen Nimdok Jacen Nimdok - not my dad

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

STRENGTHS
+ Antennapalps: He keeps ‘em hidden under his cap, but they let him hear sounds even at the subsonic frequency. The sense of physical intuition that comes with this trait is sometimes mistaken for Force sensitivity, but it’s just a sensitivity to sounds and vibrations. Please don’t yell at his hat.
+ Resistant to Toxins: A Balosar’s natural resistance to toxins and most poisons, particularly the stuff death sticks are made out of, can definitely come in handy.
+ Not a Drug Addict: Despite the stereotypes about Balosars, Starlin actually doesn't have much of a taste for drugs.
+ Flight School Student: After being gifted four starfighters, Starlin realized he should probably enroll in flight school. Though currently still a student, he can pilot competently enough to get from one planet to another on his own, but has no experience when it comes to space combat or aerial dogfighting.
+ Force Sensitive: Hello hello hello, what’s this? He can use the Force? ...Well, I suppose it is in his blood... (see second post for more info)
+ Natural Light: To date, the only Force power Starlin has ever manifested on his own (without being taught) was Force Light, which comes quite naturally to him. It is best fed by positive emotions and thoughts, particularly humor, so if you ever need to cleanse the Dark, just tell him a joke.

WEAKNESSES
- Prone to Peer Pressure: He's fallen in with a bad crowd many times, and he probably will continue to do so many more times in the future.
- Inferiority Complex: He's insecure about his own capabilities to the point where he will fail to acknowledge any reservations he might have about a bad situation or poor decision.
- Cocky and Overconfident: As a result of his training under Syd and the Silver Jedi, Starlin thinks he pretty much has the hang of things by now and considers himself to be something of a badass. While he has indeed progressed, he usually isn't on the same level as the threats he will (foolishly and enthusiastically) pursue.
- Blind Follower: He tends to assume anyone who shows the slightest bit of confidence must know what they’re doing, doubly so if he already knows them. This is a huge mistake.
- Teen Angst: I'm just a kid and life is a nightmare...
- Jerkass: He’s self-centered and somewhat petty, but then he is young and stupid. Cut the kid some slack. Or don't. He probably deserves it.

TRAITS
+/- Former Thief: While he doesn't do it anymore, Starlin used to rob businesses, warehouses, and even ships, gaining some skill in theft, including lockpicking, computer slicing, and sneaking. However, he has more or less sworn off stealing and will only put these skills to use for a good cause.
+/- Undying Optimism: Though he sometimes has a dark sense of humor, at heart Starlin is an optimist. This has helped him to get through some truly dire and disturbing experiences, but at the same time it can cause him to not take things seriously enough and leap into a situation that is way over his head.

APPEARANCE:
A skinny kid badly in need of a comb. Sounds like an old soul. Dresses in hand-me-downs that don't fit him properly. Always wears a black cap.

BIOGRAPHY:
Born on a smuggler ship to a Balosar father and a Human mother, Starlin Rand's childhood was somewhat normal (if you consider witnessing your parents conduct illegal smuggling activities and consort with intergalactic criminals "normal") up until the age of nine, when his dad went out for death sticks and never came back. There's a chance he was murdered, but since no trace of him has ever turned up, there's no way of knowing for sure.

At that point Starlin's mother Jen, a former mercenary with a sketchy past including connections to the Black Sun, decided to give up the nomadic spacer lifestyle and moved to Coruscant with her son. After a rocky start in which Jen descended into drug abuse, she eventually got clean and hooked up with a Zabrak named Silo-Hur, a washed up ex-military engineer who makes a living refurbishing used and/or scavenged parts and selling them. In addition to the usual trials and tribulations of adolescence, Starlin still bears the scars of a youth spent in a bad neighborhood where he was frequently threatened, robbed, and beaten by thugs. To cope, he joined a street gang. In exchange for their protection, the gang members pressured Starlin to steal for them. Eventually Starlin got pretty good at it, after multiple arrests for drug possession and petty theft.

Then one day, an unsolicited package addressed to Starlin arrived in the mail. Sent by a distant relative whom the boy had never even met, the package contained a fragment of a lightsaber crystal. Within days, Sith agents were sniffing around, asking about the "family heirloom" Starlin had inherited. When the Sith began threatening to harm his mother, Starlin decided to make a run for it. He fled Coruscant on his own, hitchhiking to the nearby planet Jerrilek where he hoped to meet a famous archaeologist named Nimdok who could help him deal with the situation.

Nimdok determined the fragment was part of Meetra Surik's lightsaber crystal. After being confronted by Starlin's pursuers, Nimdok killed them, forcing him to reveal his true nature to Starlin. The two were thus bound together, with Starlin convincing Nimdok to hire him on as a paid errand boy in exchange for his silence and Nimdok taking possession of the crystal fragment.

On his first mission, Nimdok sent him to Zeffo to plunder some ancient archives. Woefully unprepared, Starlin nearly fell victim to the archives' defense system, only to be rescued by Syd Celsius. Syd offered to train him, and Starlin eagerly accepted, becoming her Jedi Padawan. Since then the teen has divided his time between home on Coruscant, training with the SJC, and continuing to help Nimdok with his archaeological pursuits.

Why am I pointing to a guitar in this picture? What does the guitar have to do with the Force? I dunno buddy, hows about you go climb a tree?

Powers & Abilities (aka the Force and stuff)

{ ││││││││││││- }

{ Apprentice - Lower Knight - Upper Knight - Master - Apex Mastery }

Force Light | { │││││││││││-│ }

The first and only Force power Starlin has ever manifested entirely on his own without being trained in it, it creates a blast of pure Light Side energy which will be devastating to any Dark Side being or entity in the vicinity. However, he can only really use it if he is able to feed it with humor and other positive emotions and "happy thoughts". If he cannot overcome his negative feelings, he won't be able to use this ability (or at least not effectively).

Emerald Fire | { ││││││││││││-│ }

A variant of Electric Judgement that uses green flames instead of lightning, it is powered by the Light Side of the Force. Like Force Light, Starlin finds it easiest to use if he feeds it with positive emotions.

Cleanse | { │││││││││││-│ }

"Cleanse areas tainted by the Dark Side. Useful for creating areas where the ability of enemy Dark Adepts are severely disrupted or even outright keeping them out if too impure. WARNING: Immense concentration required, requiring a defender if used in hostile territory."

Force Slow | { ││││││││││││-│ }

"Slow is an ancient ability, reliant on telekinesis to heavily restrict the movements of molecules, even those of a person in a localized area. Along with Force Deflection its one of the most useful powers in a Jedi's repertoire of knowledge."

Force Resistance | { │││││││││││-│ }

Phase | { │││││││││││-│ }

The ability to pass one's body through solid objects. Starlin managed to accomplish it once, but it was very difficult and he hated doing it.

Force Immersion | { │││││││││││-│ }

Force Telekinesis | { ││││││││││││-│ }

"Multi-use, highly dangerous Force Power, used to create bridges or smash heads. Useful for item manipulation at a distance, such as switches, or catching missiles and grenades. Can also be used to hurl random objects at lethal speeds. WARNING: Objects must be in either line of sight or user must know where they are in a given area."

Saber Throw | { ││││││││││││-│ }

Geokinesis | { │││││││││││-│ }
  • Spell of Sand Teleportation
    • "Channels magic to create a mini portal of sand whose exit is anywhere you point as far as your eye can see."
Metallokinesis | { ││││││││││││-│ }

"The manipulation of metal. A highly specialized form of telekinesis. You can move it if it has metal, except when its being held or worn by living beings. As your skill grows you'll be able to lift common metals easier and heavier, denser metals will move faster at your command. It requires great concentration at first but grows moderately easier as you progress in using the ability, and you can learn to decrease or increase the magnetism of a given object. It won't function in an area of strong ionic interference, however. Paired with the right magics, you can create great wonders."

Force Flight | { │││││││││││-│ }

"Traversal power, used to literally fly like a superhero at high speed, or float dramatically like one. Useful for combat, making a quick escape, or reaching normally out of reach areas. WARNING: High concentration required, though amount of focus required decreases as skill advances."

Combat Forms (Lightsabers and Fists, yeehaw)

Form One (Shii-Cho) | { ││││││││││││-│ }

"Classic Jedi preference of choice due to great all-round balance of offence and defense. As skill grows, stronger duelists can be engaged and more cunning attacks devised. Technically a two for one skill, the basic attacks of the lightsaber all stem from Shii-Cho, so its knowledge grouping is considered essential to learning the single blade at all. WARNING: While it is indeed possible to become incredibly adept solely at Form One and the single blade, it will take many long years of dedication, so it is highly recommended to pair it up as soon as possible with another style to create a personal hybrid, though this approach too may have weaknesses."

Form Two (Makashi) | { ││││││││││││-│ }

"Makashi is about Lightsaber to Lightsaber combat. The style of Count Dooku. It was developed after Form One combat was not winning duels quickly or efficiently enough. The goal is to use footwork, blade defense and offense melding into one another as fluidly as possible, looking for every flaw in offense and defense in your opponent. Parries are better with this style, and has many anti disarmament and disarmament techniques. The best Makashi is executed as a dance. It is very weak against blasters, and as nearly all its attacks are all executed with one hand, it lacks the ability to deliver power. Hence why we use a two bladed approach... Do not let this style make you arrogant in a duel. Arrogance killed Dooku. Dooku was the undisputed master of Makashi. Makashi must be approached as though you are a ballerina performing for an audience. Be graceful. Dazzle. But do not forget that all it takes is one misstep, whether in the stage or the duel. Makashi is the opposite of Juyo as Juyo emphasizes total offense. Makashi is more cautious. You can become 'extremely' dangerous with enough dedication. I win most of my duels in this style. Not that you should emulate me in all things, mind you, but I would be remiss as your instructor not to pass this knowledge onto you. It's also excellent for both physically and mentally helping defend against Force attacks..."

Form Three (Soresu) | { ││││││││││││-│ }

"Primary defensive style of the Jedi, and a select number of Sith. Uses to defend against range or melee, using modified methods borrowed from Makashi. Users become extremely hard to kill if they maintain constant discipline. All around provides the best shot of survival with a lightsaber. WARNING: Soresu facilitates survival as opposed to victory. Aggressive tactics are almost a requirement to 'win' lightsaber duels. Against truly skilled, determined, numerous, or all three kinds of such enemies, it often merely delays the inevitable."

Form Seven (Juyo) | { │││││││││││-│ }

"Highly unpredictable lightsaber art focused on pure aggression and unpredictable attacks, but heavily sacrifices defense and the ability to counter Force Powers."

Dragon Kung-Fu | { ││││││││││││-│ }

"Ancient fighting style from Atrisia, incorporating the movements of the mythological Atrisian Dragon God, Kagutsuchi. Uses many claw and complex joint disablers and nerve attacks. Good for singular opponents. WARNING: Vulnerable to faster, more unpredictable melee fighters."
