FINAL DAWN
O'REEN, UNKNOWN REGIONS

In this galaxy, things work in Black and White. You are either good or bad, a hero or a villain, normal or abnormal, a lightsider or a darksider, and so on. The vast majority of the galaxy has followed this mindset, holding firm to their beliefs and vilifying anyone who deviates from their ideology or system of beliefs. It is this black and white mentality that has caused the majority of the conflicts in the galaxy, most notably the millennia-old rivalry between the Jedi and Sith, both whom view the other was the bad guys in their story. This black and white mentality creates an endless cycle of conflict where no one can emerge victorious, where no side can truly claim to be superior to the other. Sularen had long despised the black and white mentality that had dominated the galaxy, as an amoral individual who did not belive in good and evil since his childhood, Sularen fought against those who believed in the established order, eventually aiming to reshape society into something "Pure" one that would not be described in black and white but in grey.

However his journey had taken a price on the once humble and innocent man. He rose to power in the Core Worlds under the Grayson Imperium only to be sacked by the same man who helped him rise to power in the first place, then he was betrayed by a Sith Lord who had funded and supported his revanchist movement against his foes in the Core, he joined the New Imperial Order only to once more get deceived and dishonorably discharged for pursuing a private war with the Zweihander Union, and was once more betrayed by the Galactic Alliance who branded him as a Tyrannical Imperialist through rhetoric and propaganda. All these factions, the Grayson Imperium, Zweihander Union, New Imperial Order and Galactic Alliance, they were dominated by those people who held such black and white mentality, who casted him out just because he did not fit their criteria of what was good and thus was automatically a bad person, and this very thing was about to repeat itself within the very group Sularen had sought refuge in : The Brotherhood of the Maw.

As Sularen built up his power within the Maw, recruiting new people into his Inner Circle and expanding the Final Dawn's Navy, he learned of a man who shared a similar experience to that of his own, the experience of being cast out of galactic society because of what you did, because you did not fit in with their criteria of what was acceptable. Sure he had terrorized people by taking the scalps from the bodies of his dead targets. But he was a mercenary, a gun-for-hire. Someone whose only job was to hunt down specific targets and either kill them or capture them. It didn't matter what happened to the targets, what matter was that the job was done. And yet people vilified him for simply doing his job as a Mercenary and he was cast out as a result. When Sularen heard that this man, going by the name of John Jewl had recently joined the Maw, he had quickly sought him out seeking to establish common ground between himself and John Jewl considering their shared experience of being shunned just because of their profession, and to perhaps recruit him and his gang into the Final Dawn, where they would have greater opportunities to exact revenge against those who deceived him while having access to modern equipment that would turn John's gang of bounty hunters, smugglers, pirates into a force to be reckoned with.

Thus, a message was sent to John requesting a meeting between him and Sularen to be held within the latter's palace on O'reen, within the Fortress World's Capital of
Fort Maximus. They had alot to discuss and perhaps at the end of the day, both men would find themselves on friendly terms, considering their shared experience. Sularen's power was growing, along with his desire to rule the Core and get his revenge upon those who had wronged him, and having a group such as John's Gang on their side would only bring more fear upon those who had deceived not only the High Regent but the Exiled Marauder himself too. As such, from his personal office within the Grand O'reenian Place of Fort Maximus, the High Regent of the Final Dawn awaited the arrival of John Jewl ready to add a new recruit to his growing Inner Circle.

O'reen was a prison world, a land of white fog, pale plateaus and mesas, overarching like towers as if the entire planet wanted to lock you in. The small industrial spots that he assumed were cities didn't look much better either.

He descended into the spacedock of Fort Maximus, with a small entourage of a dozen of his men. Just enough to protect him, without enough to cause problems. As soon as he stepped out of his ship, he was confronted by a storm of scanning, regulations and checks. He was tempted to blow the brains out of the officer in front of him. He said he'd kill the man that touched his gun. He made it very clear to the Regent that he wouldn't accept a meeting unarmed. The officer backed off and he and his gang were allowed to continue

He was given an escorted tour towards the Palace, looking around him at the rigidly ordered streets and strange statues and symbols built in reverence of the Sith. The constant barrage of propaganda and dogma screamed in every corner from loudspeakers or cult citizens. He heard this dogma, it was different and yet the same. He didn't care for the ideology or faith of any man. He had no regard for the teachings of the Maw less it suited him, he only paid lip service for convenience. He had no regard for these teachings either. Fight for any flag you want, fight for the sith, the empire, the republic, the alliance. He fought for many flags in his life, he believed in many things and it made no difference.

Fight for the light side of the force, fight for the dark, fight for both, fight for neither. Break the wheel, or keep it going. There wasn't anything to fight for or against, there weren't any chains to break or any wheel to stop or start. All there was, all there has ever been, were things that you did. You lived and you died, and in between, you did things that made you feel good and things that made you feel sad.

There isn't any being saved or lost, just what you make in the moment of your life. He enjoyed fighting and he enjoyed killing; that was all he would ever need. But he wasn't keen on submitting himself to some philosophy he had no care for. Though he wasn't beneath lying either. He'd hear the Regent out, but his patience for speeches was thin.

Though he had to respect it, everyone here was a slave, either by chains or by thought. The entire world was built like a cage, like a prison on top of another prison. Any man who could do that knew what he was doing. Eventually, he was brought to the palace and the escorting officers left him as he entered.

FINAL DAWN
O'REEN, UNKNOWN REGIONS

As John Jewl entered the office of the High Regent, he would be greeted by Sularen casually seated in his chair behind his desk with a cozy fire raging within a fireplace located within a corner of the office. Sularen smiled as the Mercenary-turned-Marauder entered the room. "Ah, John Jewl. Please take a seat, we have much to discuss" Sularen said in a welcoming tone. "I must say i've read the files we have on you and i'm quite impressed. I can respect a man who likes to be 'creative' with his work. It's quite unfortunate that there will always be people who won't appreciate such creativity". Of-course Sularen was refering to the way in which John Jewl made a reputation for himself by collecting the scalps of those he killed as proof to his employers.

Sularen would pause for a bit before continuing. "Anyways i know you would most likely want to go straight to business but first i'd like for you to answer a simple question. Considering you and your gang and new arrivals to the Brotherhood of the Maw and were chased out of the Outer Rim by basically an angry mob of fearful and paranoid malcontents, what exactly do you expect to accomplish while within the Brotherhood of the Maw?"

He entered the small office, looking straight at him. John wasn't dressed for the occasion, he smelt like a man that hadn't washed for days and his old tattered stitched leather was starting to fail on him, looking like crumbling rags. He still had his cowboy hat on, refusing to take it off as a subtle sign of contempt.

As The Regent started speaking, he began to lurk for a drinking cabinet, pouring himself a drink, downing one with a sudden grunt while pouring himself a second.

He had a file? He found the idea both amusing and offensive. Did he call his work creative? Scalping was the oldest trick in the book, but these Imperial types weren't very good at thinking outside their procedures and manuals he thought.

He turned away from the drinking cabinet and locked eyes with him as he slowly walked over to the chair opposite his desk, taking a seat. It seemed like this one had an interest in him from the beginning. He didn't appear remotely flattered, a small frown cascading over his face as he listened to the Regant talk. He knew far too much about him for John to be comfortable.

Then he asked him what he wanted to get out of the Maw. He didn't have the energy to answer with a lie, to claim he was fighting for the glory of the dark side, or the sith, or whatever he was supposed to say. "The same thing as I was doin' before."

FINAL DAWN
O'REEN, UNKNOWN REGIONS

Upon asking his question about what John Jewl sought from the Maw, he gave a simple response, yet one that said alot about him. If he spoke the truth then it meant he was uninterested in the religion of the Maw whether it would be the Sith Religion or that preached by the Heathen Priests and adopted by the Tribes of the Maw. Sularen also suspected Jewl also had no interest in seeing the Maw succeed only that he would be able to enjoy what he had once done as a Mercenary under the banner of the Maw. It also seemed that the man was quite unamused with Sularen's comments or atleast unmoved by them. Nevertheless once he gave his response Sularen proceeded to continue speaking.

"Ah i see, and i assume you are not some fanatic Sith Cultist or follower of the Three Avatars, which i find satisfactory. But anyways i'll get straight to the point. I want to enlist the services of you and your men within the Final Dawn. By joining the Final Dawn you'll gain two things : the first is being spared from most of the religious stuff that occurs throughout the Maw. You will be pressured by either the Heathen Priests or Sith Cultists to become one of them, after all that is how things have been with most subgroups either directly following the Sith or following in the Mawite Faith."

"The Second benefit is direct access to our arsenal of advanced military equipment. As part of the Maw you will be faced with many powerful foes that will actually make it harder for you and your men to continue doing what they once did in the Outer Rim. These include Jedi, Special Forces Operatives, Hardened War Veterans, Vigilantes and even some Sith themselves that oppose the Maw. They will quickly become a major objectives what you seek to achieve and in some cases will also try to hunt you down, and i should say they are more deadlier and effective them some Outer Rim Local Enforcement."

"Plus there is another thing i should add. The Maw is a ticking timebomb, unlike the rest of the galaxy, it is de-centralized with various subgroups answering to a single leader known as the Dark Voice, her Shadow Hand and the New Sith Order. But there are many who resent the current state of things and a Civil War is most likely inevitable and many are choosing sides, either with the Sith or with the Heathen Priests. Even though the Final Dawn is technically Sith-aligned by joining us, i am no Sith cultist and by joining us you'll be mostly spared from the growing religious power keg. So what do you think Mr.Jewl?"
