"The Ren doesn't stop to worry about what it's burning or the right or wrong of it, or the goals it might achieve. The Ren just is. It lives, and it consumes, and it doesn't apologize. It is its nature and nothing else. I believe in that principle on a deep, deep level. In fact, I've dedicated my life to it." - Ren
The Ren Lightsaber that represents the destructive nature of the Knights of Ren, would have it's humble beginnings as a weapon of an Imperial Knight. Initially constructed as a Lightsaber for Knight Initiate, Jin Kyrel at the start of the Third Imperial Civil War. This Lightsaber once shined with a silver Kyber Crystal, a weapon of peace and justice by the noble Imperial Knight. Jin Kyrel would use his crossguard lightsaber in several battles against the Sith Empire. This weapon saw action in the battles of Bastion, Nirauan, Dantooine, and Vjun during the war. Unfortunately at the heart of Bast Castle would Jin Kyrel become possessed by the Sith. After becoming corrupted by the Sith Empire would Jin use his weapon against his brothers.
Betraying his oaths as an Imperial Knight, Jin Kyrel would be hunted by his fellow Knight, Hans and even Rurik Fel himself on Dantooine. After several attempts made by Hans to return his friend back to the light, would Jin in his rage strike down his own friend. Consumed by both his grief, and anger he would flee Dantooine with the Kyber Crystal of his fallen friend. Grief would turn to insanity, and Jin Kyrel would be left to his own anger. He would bleed the Kyber Crystal only for it cracking and turn into a fiery orange. Jin would later pair the crystal with a stash of Kohlen Crystals he had found. Using the false Kyber and the Kyber of his friend to forge a new weapon. The cracked and weathered blade of an Imperial Knight had been made into a weapon of the Ren.
Decades after the end of the Second Great Hyperspace War, Jin Kyrel would emerge from exile on Dathomir guided by an evil long since dead. The darkness would guide Jin Kyrel as the new Master of the Knights of Ren, like his father before him. From Batuu, Dxun, and Carlac would Jin demonstrate the destructive philosophy of the Ren now embodied into a weapon worthy of the Shadow. Following the age long tradition of the Knights, this lightsaber is a status symbol, as well as the embodiment in the Ren's nihilistic beliefs. The one who wields this weapon commands the Knights of Ren, and if any wish to take the mantle of leader must they challenge the wielder of the blade to single combat.
