The Return of the Jedi Episode II

Continued…

In a very short space of time, relief had given way to concern. Corvus started to wonder what the reason was for Moira’s absence.

“There are so many simple tests we can do to check you’re OK, and we can even access your memories if we need to.” Corvus smiled weakly. “I mean me. I can check for you. Nobody else.”

“The first thing we need to do is get you to the infirmary and have you checked out by the medical staff. They can make sure that nothing has been done to you physically, OK? If I have any concerns, I would speak to Kian, Master Karr – but nothing, absolutely nothing suggests we need to involve him yet.”

“Now, let’s both get up and we can walk to the infirmary, OK?”

Now Moira was always the kind to stay calm. Or at least try to stay calm. There were just some things that broke people into such emotional bouts. Moira was certain that if anyone understood, it was Corvus. "Y-yes master..." She said as she slowly pushed herself to her feet. "Master, I feel weaker than I was before I left... should I be worried?" She asked as she held her hand out to Corvus, offering a hand to help her up. "And... thank you for helping.... you are my... my ray of hope.."

[member="Corvus Raaf"]

“There are many reasons why you could be weaker – and the majority of them are quite superficial. I’m sure the medical staff will check you out quickly for any physical damage. And if they find nothing, then we consider the Force as a way of solving the mystery.”

“But for now, let’s get you to the infirmary.” She gave Moira her support as they walked to the medical facilities. “And Padawans are what give me hope for the future, so you could say you fuel the ray.” She smiled and made sure she wasn’t walking too quickly.

“What was the last thing you remember?”

[member="Moira Kataline"]

Her head bowed in shame, her tears had momentarily ceased, and she spoke with an absolutely hush voice. "The last thing that I remember is being in Endor space looking for clues to the missing slab in the courtyard mystery, then next thing you know.... I got attacked and I guess I got captured....... everything else is a blank... I went out to look for clues to give your mind some ease. Its always fun to wonder about simple things like the mystery... But you're an important woman in the community, couldn't allow this to distract you from your duties..... yet here I am...burdening you because I wasn't able to complete my mission."

Corvus smiled in a friendly manner. "I actually now know the secret of the missing brick." She fumbled in her pocket and fished out an amulet that looked as though it had been heavily damaged.

"This was in the hole. It would have been intact but my two sisters played with it." She wrinkled her brow. "Which need some explaining I know. I have an older sister, that I only discovered when my parents died. She was a Sith but carried the Light-side in her heart. When we met, something happened to her and she slowly lost all traces of the Dark-side and recently joined the Jedi. And I have a younger sister. She joined the One Sith and stole this amulet. I think in part to offend me and in part to impress my older sister - who was still with the Sith at the time. Anyway, Taeli, my older sister, returned it to me."

"So that's the simple mystery solved. But who abducted you is a greater puzzle to unravel. Can you remember anything of your time between now and then?"

Her left arm struck forward and she attempted to pull two simple, light seats to them. Her powers failed and instead of pulling the chairs, her arm shot down to her side. Her eyes became worried again. She seemed to have lost her ability to control Push and Pull. Could she have become a Wound, or could it be that something else was affecting her?

Maybe she really was a burden right now. She wanted to crawl into a corner and hide forever, that's how pathetic she felt."Master... I can't use my Force abilities..... what is wrong with me...? I cannot remember anything either... is that bad?"

Corvus suspected there was more to this than could be answered by medical science alone.

"I am going to try something now. Let's both sit down." Corvus simply chose a spot on the floor and sat cross-legged and encouraged Moira to do the same. "I cannot promise this will work, but it is a good first step."

"What I shall do is call the Force to me and use Force Light. By pushing it gently through your body, if it encounters any Dark-side manifestations it will diminish them or destroy them permanently. I am not saying there is any connection with a Dark-sider or that you have been Tainted or similar - but if you have - then this should help. I doubt you have been poisoned, as that produces extreme pain."

"But before I start, I need to know you're happy for me to go ahead."

It was a simple technique but without any guarantee of success - but it would eliminate one possibility if nothing else.

Corvus called the Force to her and closed her eyes. She lay a hand on Moria's shoulders. She channelled the Light-side of the Force into Moria's body, imagining it cleansing her body - pushing the Darkness out. Any Dark-side energy found would be met and repelled - leaving only the Light-side behind. Where Corvus' hand met Moira's shoulder, white light coalesced and seemed to seep into the Padawan's skin.

She could not feel what was happening within Moira's body but instead focused on pushing the Force Light into her - and focusing on purging anything the One Sith may have tainted her with.

Her eyes closed she still couldn't feel her abilities. She would most likely have to force their return. "Master.... I think I lost my powers... teach me how to get them back.... please... I want to have the power to protect you and the rest of the Order when the time comes..."

[member="Corvus Raaf"]

Corvus frowned. It was negative body language but she couldn't help herself. "Unless your access to the Force has been severed, which is possibly irreversible, I suspect you haven't lost your Abilities, but rather there is something stopping you accessing the Force. Maybe trauma..." Her voice trailed off. This was a specialised area and not one she was familiar with.

It might require the intervention of a healer? Corvus considered this option but decided to exhaust the options she had at hand first. "OK, let's go back to the beginning, when you were a Youngling. When you first learned to connect to the Force. I need you to close your eyes and simply sense for the Force. Don't try to do anything with it, just tell me if you can feel it...sense it. If you can, we can look at meditation to strengthen the connection."

Moira listened to what Corvus had said, and slowly got down into a meditative sitting position and after about ten minutes she felt a small touch of the Force, then she a few minutes later she felt ice cold and coughed, snapping out of the meditation. "It was brief, I definitely felt it... just only a small touch.... then it felt like I was being swallowed."

Corvus shook her head slowly. This was beyond anything she'd ever encountered before and wondered if any other Jedi were more familiar with Moira's circumstances.

And there was no way to sugar-coat what she was about to say - and even if she could, it was not in Corvus' nature to do so.

"I'm afraid I've tried all the options I can think of. Now? I'm just not sure. I've never come across this before and so I'm at a loss."

"I want to continue training... I want to continue to become stronger and more able while we figure this out. Would that be acceptable?"

Moira was curious. She seemed a bit more relieved that she wasn't the only one at a loss here. That still didn't stop her fear from showing, however.

"You mentioned [member="Kian Karr"]... Would he possibly know anything that could help?"

Corvus shrugged. She was truly out of her depth. Perhaps Kian might have an idea of what the problem was. It was certainly worth a try, so she put out a message for him to contact her at his earliest convenience.

"Don't worry," she said to Moira. "It'll be resolved."
