Description: This is one of the first and one of the only places where Dark Spirits and those of the light both reside in for a time. They are greeted on the shore by a ferrymen, one of the many, all of whom are there to transport the dead to their fates. These ferrymen lead the newly dead down what is an endless river, letting them reflect on there life before they finally arrive at the Paths of choices. (If you are not dead and you touch the River, your soul will become tainted or you could die instantly.) If a Ferrymen finds one who is not dead they act as guides and even protects of the one that is still alive, allowing for them to return to their lives untainted. This is due to both the ferrymen's loyalty and normally the kind but serious heart of the ferrymen.
Once you are at the paths of choices, you are judged for your actions in life by three spirits of the greatest of importance in your life, sometimes even if the person is not dead their spirit is shown with a blazing fire in their chest where otherwise if the person is dead they are a black flame. (Note, the spirits who still live in the real world do not realize they are there to judge the one before them, the phenomenon cannot be explained as to how this is possible.) The Three spirits will then decide if you should be on the path of the damned that leads into Chaos, its ground black brimstone and all but death lines it. Where the path to the lighter part of the Netherworld is lined by flora. The Ferryman will continue to lead the dead soul to its final place of residence, or if the person is living will act as the living's protector until the end of the line for them in death or until they leave the netherworld.
History: ^ That.
Extra note on what happens if you touch the River waters: Basically it will cause you a great sickness that will leave your connection to the force damaged or if you are not force sensitive can leave you crippled in pain and night-terrors for the rest of your life. Would require several master level healers to have any small chance of fixing. It can even twist and destroy the mind of those that touch it, destroying the person they used to be before hand. (If you are lightsided, there is also the chance of becoming tainted through and through with the darkside... but up to you.) Last possible effect is instant death, this is more so if you drink it, or jump in it though.
