Valik
Professor of Alchemy
Intent: To help Rave Merrill Campaign
Development Thread: None
Manufacturer: Valicore Engineering
Affiliation: #RaveMerrill4HighCouncil
Modularity: It's software, and can thus be hacked/altered to do a ton of things. Any such alteration would naturally require a dev thread and likely a new submission however.
Production: Uniquely produced, mass downloaded.
Material: None, it's strictly software.
Description: The RMC-1 Virus is a virus that, upon instillation, bombards users with pop-ups advertising Rave Merrill and blocks holonet pages that mention other candidates, such as but not limited to: Faenroven the Radiant, Kitt Solo, Circe Savann, and Shinju Ayasha. The Virus spreads itself by embedding itself in chain emails such as "Do these ten things and your wish your come true.", "Send this to ten friends and meet your true love", or the ever popular "I'm a Serenno Count, I need 800,000 credits to get home but I can pay you back 10,000,000 credits when I get there.". The Virus also got into many less reputable sites, and users have been known to contract it through free Grav-ball streaming sites, adult entertainment sites, and illegal music and game sharing sites. Once downloaded the virus is extremely difficult, though not impossible, to remove. The Virus is most commonly found on datapads and holoterminals but can be found on any object with access to the holonet. It does not gather information, banking or otherwise, from any infected items. If traced the virus's origin will be found on an office on Teth, not traced back to the #RaveMerrill4HighCouncil campaign. Interestingly enough, Valik discovered when he monitored progress on the RMC-01 virus that it had no trouble infecting nearly 90% of the market, but datapads and terminals run by the operating system created by Lamta Inc. were more resistant to the infection than their widespread competitors.
