The Road to Susevfi

“Home is the place where, when you have to go there, They have to take you in” – Robert Frost

Another trip to the Outer Rim, Faith actually did not mind having Embassies on worlds in the Outer Rim. The Core was at times crowded and fought over often the Outer Rim had its skirmishes but so far all-out war had not stretched its withered hand out over it to claim it for its own.

Susevfi that name did not quite roll off the tongue it kind of hung there at the back of her throat as she tried to roll the vfi together into a sound. Faith couldn’t help but laugh at the sound she made it was…odd.
Upon researching Susevfi she discovered that it had at one time been home to the Jensaarai cult. She knew little about the Jensaarai, and then there were the pirates, were there still pirates there? She would have to learn about both.

But as always an Embassy for Alderaan on another Outer Rim World meant that anyone who had left Alderaan during the Sith occupation would have a place to go and send messages to Alderaan to search for family, or to find out about returning.

These Embassies on different worlds served many purposes in Faith’s mind. It offered Alderaan the ability to learn about others and extend to them a hand of friendship. Whatever goods they had to trade Faith would gladly listen to.

The twins were sleeping right now, Ana was preparing a cup of tea, and Captain Lindsey of her guard had this look on his face like he had something to say.

Faith had an idea, “We will go home after this promise”

“It’s not that” his voice sounding much older than she remembered.

“What?” Ana brought her the cup and sat to down near her, for a moment Faith saw Ana’s eyes look to the Captain. Hmmm. She wondered about that. After all they spent a great deal of time together.

“Perhaps” Faith began, “We need time off after this we’ll have been traveling for some time and hopefully setting up good will with everyone, and the sending the Engineers into build the facilities. Maybe a vacation is needed.”
Ana’s cheeks turned pink, ok Faith finally got it.

“ok home after this” She sipped her tea not looking up she just had a feeling.

Anyhow back to their next destination.

“So, who are we meeting?”

Ana smiled, “It is a Knight Errant named [member="Veino Garn"] “

Faith really smiled, “A Knight Errant well I did not know there was another, won’t [member="Draco Vereen"] be surprised to learn he is not the only one.” Faith took a sip, “You have our welcome basket.”

Ana nodded, “Yes Faith we are ready we are practiced at this by now, old hands at getting it right.”

They were this would be their...5 stop...yeah that sounded right.

Arriving -

Faith walked the ramp of the ship looking around she loved being planet side after hours in the ship. She smoothed her Alderaan Robes and walked slowly giving everyone time to get in step.

Veino stood flanked by two squads of SDF soldiers in ceremonial garb as a storm brewed above Yumfla. Dark clouds built along the horizon, turning the sea stone-gray. Hardly the best day for a meeting, but if it was like the rest of the season, it would blow over by evening. A quick storm in the afternoon as the temperature rose and then a beautiful clear evening. Nothing quite like those nights. One could see thousands of stars just by traveling a few kilometers out to sea.

The ship came into view, heading down for a landing, setting down gently on the landing pad. It was an elegant ship, as most Alderaan vessels were. The landing ramp opened and the squads snapped to attention. What little sun peeked through the clouds glinted off their epaulets and buttons. Archaic uniforms, but wasn't that the entire point of ceremonial uniforms? To call back to an older, more elegant time and the traditions that originated there?

Veino stepped forward, the bottom of his great-coat snapping in the wind. It was a clean one, new and of high quality materials. Some armor value, but nothing significant if he came across lightsaber duels. That wasn't expected, by any means, but it was better to be safe than sorry. His travelling coat was at the dry cleaner's, even though the folks there had stared at it in horror.

The ambassador, Faith, if Veino remembered correctly, stepped out onto the platform, smoothing her robes. Veino waited as she approached before giving her a nod of greeting. She looked familiar, but Veino couldn't remember where they might have met before in the past. He'd fought on Alderaan against the One Sith. That had been years ago now. Whether he had met her then or in other operations for the Republic, he wasn't sure. But no matter.

"Welcome, Ambassador Organa," Veino said, offering her his hand, as a luxury speeder's doors slid open. "I'm glad to see Alderaan has recovered enough to establish embassies even in the Outer Rim. It's been a difficult past these recent years."

He remembered the city then. The museum, if he remembered right. A massive Sithspawn wrecking across the plaza. Light glinting off Blackblade armor. Buildings torn to pieces and bodies littering the ground. Blood had stained the pavements red. He tensed, letting those memories fade into the Force.

"I was there," He added after a moment, "During the early battles." His voice was rather distant for a moment as he took a seat in the speeder. "It was heartbreaking to see such a beautiful planet fall." He turned to give her a wry half smile. "But all wounds heal in time, stronger and better than before."

The two squads turned on their heels to face the speeder and gave a salute before they departed to negotiate.

"How was your journey?" It was small talk, but that would work until they reached the center of the city.

Words she had spoken so many times fell from her lips, "Thank you for allowing us to come to Susevfi I had never heard of it before and I must say when I did learn about it I couldn't think of a better place to come and visit and speak with you about allowing us to build an Embassy for Alderaan here."

She smiled graciously as he spoke of her home and having been there when the Sith came, "We've restored the Museum, you should come see it it's quite beautiful. Many of the Noble families have contributed to it artifacts from their own families and collections that were saved. We are stronger it's hard for a peace loving culture such as Alderaan to finally come to the realization we cannot not protect ourselves any more. We won't allow the Sith to have our home again, or anyone."

She tried not to let the fire burn within that often came with talking about her home and it's destruction, "you could say that is another reason why I am here. Many of Alderaan's citizens who escaped are scattered throughout the galaxy, having an Embassy here, would give them a place to come if they wanted to come home."

She was sad for a moment when she thought about the families, the destruction, "OHh I forgot" She looked to Ana, her assistant, "WE give this basket to everyone, it has Emerald wine from the Organa Vinerium, and Cheeses from other farms, small prints of the Killik Twilight, and a number of other things from Alderaan, please take this as just a small gesture of frienship between our two worlds."

She offered the basket, she had a question, but she would wait just a bit more before asking.

Draco shrugged his shoulders, yawning as he walked through the corridors of the ship. It wasn't massive, nothing like a battlecruiser of dreadnought which he had grown accustomed to travelling aboard throughout the Crusade against the Republic and the One Sith, instead a small quaint vessel with a small crew. Small enough that its passengers could have learned all the names of each member, something Draco appreciated when entrusting his family to someone.

The warrior rubbed the tiredness from his eyes as he stretched and checked his clothing. Simple, meant to relay his status as Faith's plus one more so than his status as a warlord. Black slacks and shoes, black shirt mostly buttoned up with the sleeves rolled up. He always wore some kind of weapon, it was second nature to carry something, and so he had a large Fett-Kal trench knife stowed away in a sheath under his left arm. It was visible without a jacket, but then again, he wasn't trying to hide it. It would be stranger for the Mandalorian to be caught without some kind of weapon on him.

Faith and Ana had already made their way down the ramp and begun their discussion with the Knight-Errant of Susevfi. He could hear them talking some as he made his way from the ship and towards the trio, wearing his best, most polite smile. "Good morning, Cyar'ika. Good morning, sir knight." He said, greeting them both with a nod, offering Faith a warm smile as he joined her, slipping his arm around her waist to hold her from the side.

They were discussing an embassy to be built on the planet, one of several important visits that they would have to go on. Coruscant would likely be one of the last, at least for now, rebuilding the ancient embassy there would take a large amount of time and money, two things the pair were reluctant to offer others at the moment.

==========================

Veino nodded, smiling faintly at the news of the museum. While he appreciated the fact that it had been rebuilt was no, as she put it, quite beautiful, he had no desire to return. Far too many ghosts on that world. From what he understood, even his old home in the Temple of the Grey had been destroyed. His home was Susefvi again, just as it had been when he had grown. He took the basket with a small bow, rather surprised at the gesture. Most diplomats didn't go around giving gift baskets, as it was a rather archaic custom, but it was nice.

"Thank you for your generosity," Veino responded, holding the basket under his arm. "And hello," he added as Draco came out from the ship and greeting Faith. He seemed quite familiar, although Veino wasn't entirely sure when they might have met. "But just Veino, if you will. Knight's an... odd title for me to wear."

He was, in the eyes of many, still Master Veino Garn, most known for years of war-time service against the Dark Side alongside groups ranging from the Army of Light, the Fel Imperium, the Republic, and most recently, the Galactic Alliance. But throughout them all, or most of them, anyways, he was also a fierce supporter of the Underground. It was with them that he was promoted from Knight to Master. But when he had died in that temple invasion, he had lost much of his skill and experience with the Force. Veino had given up his titles after that, but Master Garn was still his honorary title within the Underground ranks.

"If you will follow me," he added, turning to the speeder, "we can proceed to the conference chamber given to us. It is my honor, as a representative of Susefvi and the Galactic Alliance, to be your host for the duration of your stay."

He stepped inside the speeder, and held the door open for them. The woman, Faith, had a question. He could sense it forming in her mind, but also a reluctance to ask. "Might any of you have any questions that need addressed?" He punctuated that with a glance in her direction, pausing only briefly before moving on.

Once they had stepped aboard, the speeder would take a leisurely winding route through the city of Yumfla- taking some specific time to drive along the scenic shoreline the city had set aside as a park for its residents. The weather was not perfect, but that was to be expected for the season. It certainly made the sea much more dramatic, with a growing wind whipping up whitecaps that shot spray onto the shore, spattering those who got too close. It was why Veino wore a great-coat- to protect himself from the salty wind and saltier spray.

Draco joined them on the landing pad as she spoke with [member="Veino Garn"] and then in true fashion when he accompanied her he performed a gesture that was meant to show possession. She smiled, "Good Morning Drahr." The gift might be slightly archaic but it presented a variety of items that perhaps he would find enjoyable and wish to purchase again, she was trying to drum up trade for Alderaan.

She looked back to Veino, "Then Master Garn, or would you prefer Veino during the length of our stay" She felt that warm rush cover her skin as if she had been dipped in warm water it filled her. Her question?

Her gaze set upon Veino for a moment acknowledging that he had caught her, her brother Theo use to do that quite a bit read her mind sense her intentions. "I do have a question but at the moment I don't know if it is appropriate." No she wasn't sure that it was but she had met very few that could say I was there, I saw this, yes she had those questions, but now was not supposed to be a time to discuss that.

Though perhaps it was meant to be an avenue to do so.

"Veino it is. You can call me Draco if you like. I'm not one for listing out too many titles myself." The big man glanced down at Faith on his side as the warm air breezed across his face, droplets of salt water that hung in the air mixing in with his long dark locks. "This one has been no help at getting rid of them either." Draco grinned at her, and helped shield her from the wind and spray. The smell of salt was profound, but then again it was not a smell he was unfamiliar with. Draco had spent time on dozens of worlds and many coasts, but most importantly, the couple lived on the coast.

Veino, the man they were following turned and asked them about any questions they had, and Draco had a few to ask, but he wanted to formalities out of the way and wanted to let Faith have her talk about embassies. They were good for assisting with the diplomatic relationship of Alderaan. For so long the planet had been an icon for peace and prosperity, the Warlord wished it would return to such a lofty status now that it was free to act as its people wished. All Draco really wanted to ask about was a few questions about military assets and how the Embassy's neutrality and immunity would be enforced.

The man they were visiting held the door open for the both of them to enter his speeder and Draco helped Faith aboard before following suit and finding a place to sit beside her.

==========================

"Veino please," He said idly, as they paused to let a group of beach-goers cross the roadway to their own speeder. Then they were off again, and Veino turned to back to the others. They were getting close to the legislative building now, where they would hold the official meeting. Not a conference room, but a glass-shielded patio. This wasn't meant to be a top secret meeting by any means. That rather went against the point of a diplomatic meeting.

They continued to travel through the streets before finally coming to a stop at the patio. Veino stepped out, holding the door open for them and gesturing to the patio. It was a glass pavilion on an overlook above the city and the sea beyond. On the other side, one could see the beginning of the grasslands and the foothills beyond that, eventually, just barely on the horizon, one could see the blue haze of the mountain peaks.

"Draco then," he said gesturing towards a table that had been set aside with refreshments. It was the only table at this point, the pavilion discretely set aside for the meeting.

"So, shall we begin with any further formalities?"

There was a hint of a smile on his face. He'd never been one for the formalities, but he would tolerate them in this case.

"On behalf of President Ortham and the entire representatives of Susefvi, welcome to Yumfla. We are extraordinarily pleased to welcome you and formally create a strong friendship between our worlds."

He gestured to the table, which had a collection of Susefvi delicacies. Mostly seafood and an alcoholic beverage made from distilled seaweed. Most offworlders weren't a fan of it, as it was quite an acquired taste. But Alderaan had strong ties to the Mandalorians now and unless he was mistaken, they had been speaking some Mando'a earlier. So perhaps they wouldn't find it as bad. Veino couldn't stand the drink, in all honesty. Most acquired a taste during their teenage years egged on to drinking at a questionable age by their peers. He'd been gone for much of that.

"Would you prefer to eat first or do conduct our discussion first?"

The greetings was warm and created the type of ambiance one hoped for a meeting of two worlds. Faith enjoyed the view, and smiled when she saw the beach goers. She loved the beach, the ocean it always made her feel at home, at ease, and brought back memories of finer days.

She could not keep the smile from her lips as she listened to [member="Veino Garn"] and [member="Draco Vereen"] spoke, they seemed at ease with one another, she was glad for that. It was a sign perhaps that this would go on without incident or argument. Peaceful, something that at times was rare in the galaxy. Peace however did seem to be here right now a breather, or place holder until the replacement for the One Sith reared up.

"OH behalf of the people of Alderaan, and my mother Queen Arianna we thank you for allowing us this opportunity to speak with you. And we look forward to a long relationship with Susefvi." What did she want first negotiations, or food.

She had eaten on the ship, a bad habit for certain, but food would lighten the mood, "We should dine first and then meet, Veino what is the staple of food here on Susevfi?"

Draco smiled and listened for the most part. He wasn't what one might call a "good" diplomat, but he had his moments. Surprisingly he represented the clans in diplomatic matters despite his horrid track record at actually coming to a common ground with any government he, or his people were at odds with. Luckily he had done well with the Galactic Alliance in recent times.

This meeting was not however between the Clans and Susevfi, it was between Alderaan and the planet. Today he was Prince Consort Vereen, not Conquer, not a Warlord, not Alor Vereen. He was just arm candy and a bodyguard rolled into one speaking with a peaceful planet. Master Garn hadn't seemed surprised or disappointed when Draco had openly claimed Faith as his own, and so far the welcome had seemed only pleasant. It was good to relax and just enjoy what was essentially his vacation.

He looked at the spread of food and thought remorsefully about it, knowing that he could gorge himself like he wanted to when he had first seen it. "It all looks excellent." Lots of sea food and alcohol that he could only have small amounts of and maintain his diet. He looked at Faith and grinned, "If you keep taking me to complementary banquets, I'm going to lose the abs you love."

[member="Faith Organa"] [member="Veino Garn"]

The dinner was not over as quickly as one might think, even dinner on formal visits had a particular agenda, and schedule. Cocktails, Appetizers, small talk, salad, talk of planetary politics, main course, galactic politics to be topped off by dessert and drinks. And then they could talk about when they came for the Embassy.

Faith held her glass gently between two fingers as she stood looking out across Susevfi she smiled so far so good she looked back at [member="Veino Garn"] and [member="Draco Vereen"] .

"I would like to build an embassy here on Susevfi one that would serve as a way for us to communicate with Alderaanians who visit this far out or to nearby planets, and to keep in diplomatic relations with you. I'm sure you have questions about politics even after the meal. So, what questions can we answer for you?"
