The Jedi Temple on Ossus was by then little more on the surface but ruins, but the complex had been so large and so magnificent that even so many thousands of years after its destruction, its halls held secrets to be uncovered. Those secrets were what had drawn Aryn to the world, newly decimated by war and abandoned by those who had sought to care for it. Unfortunate as the reality of the situation had been, Aryn found himself comforted by the silence of Ossus, the isolation. This was the kind of environment he had sought and enjoyed for so long, it was here he could learn and work best. Yet, he found himself halted as he sat on the floor of one of the great chambers within the library.

Ahead of Aryn stood an immense door, Aryn did not know where it led, and that was why he was intent on getting through it. Yet the door had no lock, nor any handle, he had not been able to push it open, and indeed anything that Aryn had attempted by himself had failed, there seemed no way that he had considered which would allow him to enter. And so he sat on the floor, a hydrospanner in his hand as he worked on the internals of his small BB-unit. It was of course his own method of meditation, allowing him to fall deep into the force and consider the challenge which lay before him. He could remain there as long as he needed to get through it, the silence was bliss to him.

Bellek's fingers tapped away on the controls of his freighter, his eyes glancing through the viewport to the surface of Ossus outside. This was a curious place, and a tragic one. He couldn't count how many times it had been bombared, or ravaged by war; wasn't like it hadn't happened recently, either. He properly landed the YT-1300, moving from the cockpit and to the ramp outside. He took a deep breath of air, and immediately regretted it. Something stank around here; whether it was dead or just some animal's waste he didn't know, and didn't stick around to find out.

Bellek kept his coat around him, hiding his lightsaber from view behind it as much as he could. He wasn't sure what it was, but...something had drawn him here, something calling through the force as he had passed through the sector, and he was never one to ignore a call. He moved his way through a forest, the skittering and various noises of animals buzzing past him filling the air. After clearing the forest, he found what he had been looking, for finally...at least, he hoped so. This was probably it. As he stepped out into the clearing, he saw the ruins of the old Jedi Library.

He'd read about it before, fittingly enough, but no books or holocrons covered what else he saw. He saw the wreckage of a battle nearby, blaster marks and scorches along with wrecked vehicles and some corpses in armour. Obviously parts were probably cleaned up after the First Order and Silver Jedi's fight, but he hadn't seen them. As he approached the entrance to the old Library, Bellek reached down and took a flashlight from his coat, using it to illuminate his way. Whatever he seeked, it was down in this old, musky ruin. Because the Force could never take him anywhere nice.

Silence had filled the halls and chambers of the library for so long, and Aryn had enjoyed that silence. In fact, the only break to it had been the subtle workings of his hands and his hydrospanner as he cleaned and tinkered with the internal workings of his droid companion. But then there was another sound. It wasn't one that was natural, no, he could not hear the footsteps of anyone approaching, nor did he heard the sounds of a starship hovering overhead or landing outside. It was a sound through the force, calling to him and revealing the presence of another. With the call came a feeling of comfort, a kind of strength which only ever came to him among those who were his peers, fellow users of the force, and especially those with strength. He did not know who exactly had come to Ossus, or what they had come searching for, but he knew what they were.

Aryn made no great move to greet, ambush or even prepare for this visitor, they would come to him in time as all those who trespassed on his meditations tended to. Slowly he shifted his hands as he sat comfortably on the floor, the centerpiece of a large hall before this impenetrable door. Slowly he began to shift the internal parts of his droid companion back into their places, over time moving to return the droid to its usual state so ti would be ready for re-activation. Regardless of what his visitor wanted, Aryn figured he would soon be moving, and indeed, perhaps this was what he had been waiting for in his meditation.

Bellek's head poked through a doorway as he entered another dark corridor. He grumbled to himself as he couldn't see a light ahead of him, either. Couldn't anyone have left a light on? A torch burning, anything? He was sure there had to be a few solar cells used for this structure - technology hadn't exactly had massive jumps in the last few thousand years. Gulag plague hadn't helped out a whole lot either; barely anyone knew what had even happened in the last hundred years or so, they'd probably regressed if anything. Bellek continued to muse to himself as he finally saw what seemed to be a light source on his right.

Flicking off the small flashlight as he approached it, Bellek placed it away in his coat and stepped into the light before him. It was a nice change, even if he had to squint his eyes for a moment to adjust. He'd followed the trail The Force had given him, and he finally figured out what it was trying to say. He spied the human ahead, trying to fix up some kind of BB unit in front of a huge door. Was he having trouble with getting through? That'd make sense, the Jedi would want to keep some things secret and safe; what was left after the First Order ran roughshod across the planet, anyway.

"Your little clanker busted?" His voice echoed somewhat as he spoke, something Bellek only realized once it had. He glanced around before he stepped down some steps and toward the man, glancing between him and the droid before his eyes were drawn to the large door in front again. "Odd place for a workshop, don't you think? Won't get many customers like this." He motioned to the chamber around them. Sometimes he wondered if sarcasm was just his way of getting comfortable, or something he did out of habit just to spite his old master, it had bothered the old woman so much.

Aryn let out a soft chuckle as he heard the voice echoing through the hall, not even glancing over to it as he shifted BB-3's plating back into its place, taking a couple of moments to firmly socket it in. "Just tends to help me think." He explained as he moved to stand, tucking the hydrospanner away on his belt as he reached down to hit a small button the BB unit's side. Quickly the droid sprung to life, its ball swaying lazily for a moment before the head shot up to its top and began to spin around, the droid making a series of beeps and whistles in an excited tone as Aryn chuckled and looked down at it. "Yes, yes, we're still in the same room." He chuckled idly, taking a glance up towards his visitor finally, a slight smile on his face as he watched the approaching Twi'lek.

"Tell me, what do you reckon is behind that door?" He asked plainly, motioning up to the immense door as he took a few steps in Bellek's direction. "The damn thing seems determined to stay locked." He explained, glancing down to the floor as he walked, briefly kicking some dust and dirt away as he uncovered a small pattern on the floor, elegantly crafted with two stone circles on either side of a large sigil similar to one that sat on the door. "I figured these might be some pressure-plate system, but either BB-3 isn't heavy enough-" A few indignant beeps came from the droid at that, "-or it's something else entirely."

Bellek glanced down again as he heard Aryn's words, a smirk coming across his face. "You rummage around his insides to think? Hope you aren't a surgeon." The Twi'lek continued to mull around the room, spying the patterns on the door and then on the ground beneath them as Teth pointed it out. A hand came up as Bellek rubbed his chin, looking back down to the sigil again, slowly tracing it with his steps as he moved across to one side, eyeing what seemed to be the first pressure plate.

Crouching down into a squat, Bellek peered at the 'plate'. He knew what this was, and he had seen it before, back at the old temple where he'd been raised. It required, in theory, two Jedi to work together to open the door. He supposed that they didn't have to be Jedi, just anyone who could use the force to a certain degree, but Jedi was the intent. He knew that wouldn't be a problem; there wasn't any Sith leaping out, so he could only assume that this human he'd encountered was the force presence he felt. Lots of influence there, lots of potential power. But it seemed very raw, unrefined. Untrained, most likely.

"Yeah, I've seen it before. Just gotta think about it. What kind of people would be walking around in a place like this, that might want to get past this door?" Standing up fully, he dusted off his hands from wiping some dust off the floor and looked back towards Aryn again. Even though he was alluding to the question, he was curious how quickly he might reach the right conclusion; something that might gauge how familiar he was with temples like this or just how likely he was to see the Force as an asset, if he even knew.

Aryn let out a soft chuckle as he watched the Twi'lek, his BB droid idling curiously around the room and over to the door as they stood by the plates on the floor in the room's center. He was curious about his visitor, but not enough to be wary. He could feel the man's force signature, as he had grown accustomed to over time, he carried a warmth and calm with him that dark-siders never carried with him. Whether the man was a Jedi, independent or otherwise however, that remained lost on Aryn, but the answer was not something which really concerned him. He was sure in time he would learn more as to who this man was.

Taking a few steps away from the plate then, Aryn collected the items he'd set down earlier, hauling a small pack and his vibrosword's sheath over his shoulder, shifting it into place as he heard the question over his shoulder. It was not an uncommon one, usually when force-sensitives came to him in places such as this they asked similar questions. Of course, this particular visitor was polite enough not to ask outright, as Aryn glanced back toward him with a smile. "I'm looking for holocrons, lessons, that type of thing - only so much a man can teach himself." There was no point to being dishonest in Aryn's eyes, better he was open with the man - if he would still choose to help him, then all the better for it.

Bellek quietly nodded at the man's response, seeming to mull it over in his mind after he did. "There's a great deal a man can learn by himself." He turned to look back at the door again, considering what he should do, and whether it was right to let in this man. He could also do with some learning, and a holocron here of all places would definitely have the information he needed, that he felt he was missing. Besides, something in the force had guided him to whoever this was. It must've meant something right. "My name's Bellek. Like I said, seen this kind of thing before."

Bellek raised his arm, motioning to the other plate before his motion directed towards the plate closest to Aryn. "You were close. They're like pressure plates, in a way. Two people need to activate them at once. Not with pressure, though." The Twi'lek once again motioned, but this time to Aryn himself. "It needs the force, being used by two people, to open it up. In a place like this, it requires you to relax and clear your head, not be distracted by other thoughts and just focused on the force. You know, just think how a Jedi would expect a library to be."

Bellek moved towards the farther plate, stepping onto it before he sat down in a kneeling position with his hands on his legs, his gaze over towards Aryn again. "Do whatever works for you. If that means tinkering with the droid, do it." With that, the Twi'lek closed his eyes and an eerie calm seemed to come over him, as his thoughts cleared and he focused, not just on his own presence, but Aryn's. There was something interesting about him, and Bellek had to know if it was what he suspected.

Aryn gave Bellek a curious raise of the eyebrow as he began to explain how the door functioned. In a way it was not surprising to him, he had considered that the door was likely opened by some kind of force ritual, but the fact that it required two individuals served as more than enough of an explanation as to why he had been incapable of getting through it. Had they been pressure plates, himself and BB-3 would have been sufficient, as was usually the case, but of course, the poor droid was no help in matters of the force. He found himself somewhat appreciative then of the fact that Bellek had arrived to assist him, he still didn't know much about the man, but he seemed interested in getting through himself, and that was all that mattered for Aryn at that point.

"Alright, I can do that..." Aryn muttered casually as he moved over to the other plate. Whistling, he watched as the small BB droid quickly moved to his side, Aryn taking a casual seat on the plate as he reached out to hold the droid still. "Alright little buddy, let's fix your antenna..." Soft clicking echoed through the hall as Aryn's fingers began to carefully adjust and shift the antenna and internals on the back of the droid's 'head'. To many, the sound might have been a hindrance, but it allowed Aryn to fall into his comfortable meditation. As he did so, his force signature seemed to emanate and flow outward from him, surging to and from Bellek in an almost unnatural fashion. Normally, such an exercise was likely to take time, or for strangers like they were, to be impossible.

Yet in only a minute, the door began to creak as the massive stone slabs which formed it began to shift inwards, opening the way to a large, darkened stairway which descended deeper into the ancient library.

Bellek's eyes shot open as he heard the door begin to rumble and the dark stairway appear before him. So it was true, then. He stood up, pondering this information. This was significant, it meant a lot. Was he even aware of what he did? Most likely not, but it would explain a force signature like his calling out even as far as just being in the Sector. Usually that was something only noticeable for those of particular training, and he didn't seem like he had much at all. Turning to his side, he walked over to Aryn, glancing down at the droid once again.

"You make friends easily?" He turned and began walking in through the large doorway even before he got an answer, assuming he would get one and that Aryn would most likely be following. As he approached the stairway, he fumbled around in his coat for the flashlight again; not as though he actually needed it, but it was something he was used to doing. He tried to keep who he was quiet, and the best way to do that was not to pull out a lightsaber or do things Jedi are known for doing - like not needing their eyes.

Beginning his descent down the stairs, Bellek gave up in his rummaging for the light source. There would have to be lights down here somewhere. He was curious whether Aryn would think the question was directed at himself or the droid; the questions were only gauging small things, right now. Conclusions he drew from them, what answers he gave.

Aryn had fallen so deep in his own meditation, that his attention was not drawn away from the droid until it excitedly beeped along with the sound of the doors opening fully, stone hitting against the walls as they stood completely opened, allowing passage down into the depths. Looking up, he caught the gaze of Bellek, chuckling at his words as he gave BB-3's antenna one final adjustment before standing. "Depends on the people I meet." He answered with a smile, knowing that the answer he had given was perhaps more vague than the Twi'lek had expected. Leaving BB-3 to watch the area behind them, Aryn continued after Bellek down the stairway. The darkness was encapsulating, and for a short while Aryn found it difficult to see.

Shortly after they hit the end of the staircase and kept moving, three braziers of blue flame came to light at once, they lit a small circular chamber, with two doorways splitting off to the left and the right, continuing onwards into the darkness. No sound or light source came from down the two paths, and any sound the two of them created seemed to echo for miles on end. "Just like the ancient Jedi never to put a sign on the doors, huh?" Aryn chuckled, his curiosity getting the better of him as he stepped forward to one of the doorways, peering through in the hope of seeing anything, but there was nothing but darkness stretching out before them. The only sound which came was from behind them, the telltale slamming sound of the two massive doors sealing behind them. "Well, not back that way, at least."

Bellek knew exactly what this place was now - he'd been clued in when the flames lit up the two hallways, for two people to have entered using both pressure plates, especially with the usual requisition that had...the force always figured out a way to see if you were truly up to what you wanted. He turned to Aryn, a smirk on his face. "You take right, I'll take left." He didn't say anything more than that before he began walking down his corridor, not wanting to give Aryn any pre-knowledge of what he was going into; it could jepoardize him. As he walked down the darkened hallway, Bellek didn't reach for a light or any source - he knew he'd find what he needed.

He didn't expect what he saw, though. A shimmering blue figure that resembled a slight, female Kel Dor. One that he recognized as elderly, and very familiar. It strolled around the corner, its fingers intertwined as Bellek almost let out a scoff when it approached. "I knew you'd haunt me eventually. What did I do now?" He continued walking down the corridor, passing the figure who then started walking alongside him. "You think he has potential."

It even sounded like her. Bellek kept walking and talking, not looking towards the spectral figure. "Of course I do. A lot of it. It's all raw and untapped. It's better someone like me helps than-" He stopped as he was cut off by his walking companion. "His ability is dangerous. Users like him always cause suffering, strife. Pull others into conflict." Bellek stopped and looked at her, now. "It's not the ability. It's the person. And I- where do I get to decide he'll do something before he even knows he'd be capable of it? He has a right to learn."

The figure turned to him, bringing up a finger as she talked, a motion Bellek knew well enough. "You don't even know him. Where he came from, what he believes. You don't know his name." He stopped now, considering it for a moment before he stared at her pensively. "It doesn't matter. You're right, but it doesn't matter. Who he is, even who he was, or who his family is. I'll only judge him by his choices, and he can't make them unless someone shows him they're there. I know it's a risk-" He was cut off again. He hated when she did that.

"A good teacher has caution, and-" He cut her off for once. "And the patience to wait. I know. But it's not that simple now. There's war, everywhere. Sith in all corners, the dark side all over the place. If not me, he'll look elsewhere eventually. And I can't decide what he'll find. How can he know what the right decision is when he doesn't know anything about it?" The Kel Dor stared at him as he continued. "I know I haven't done this before. That...maybe I'm not going to be the wise old lady you are. But that doesn't mean I shouldn't try. It doesn't matter how much I fail, I won't fail him. It's the least I can do now."

Bellek continued to stare at the figure, and could almost swear he saw the cheeks of the being move like there was a smile beneath what still seemed to be her old Antiox mask. She simply nodded, beginning to slowly phase away as he stared back at her. Was that even her? He wasn't sure. Perhaps it was, or it was just the temple's guardian taking her appearance - he couldn't know. Did it matter? Maybe. Maybe not. As he considered it, he realized he and the ghost had been walking towards a large wall, a dead end. A wall that was now slowly raising to bring him to another, more well-lit room ahead.

Aryn gave Bellek a vague smile, but confusion was evident on his face as the Twi'lek confidently decided they should split up. He had almost considered following after him as he saw Bellek disappear into the darkness, but there was something calling him down into the darkness. Sighing, and swallowing both his pride and trepidation, Aryn chose to trust Bellek, turning around and stepping into the dark hallway. He walked in total darkness for close to a minute, surrounded by absolutely nothing but the darkness and the incessant echoing of his footsteps. There was no vision as it had been with Bellek, there was just silence as he walked. Another minute passed, then two, then five, still, Aryn felt and saw nothing in the darkness that surrounded him. Sighing, he stopped in his tracks, and when he looked back, saw through some unexplainable logic that he had appeared to have gone no more than ten steps from the door itself. Taken aback by this, he took a step back toward the door, but in an instant the stone above the door slammed down, sealing him in complete darkness.

"Well well, back so soon?" Aryn shuddered at the voice over his shoulder, feeling the soft and piercing sensation of the fingers running along his shoulder as he felt himself frozen in place. That was a voice that Aryn would never forget, and as the figure stepped into view, it was a face he would not remember either. His hand began to twitch painfully, remembering the painful sensations that had run through it during his torture at the hands of the Empire. She had been determined to break Aryn, to shatter his will and reshape it into a tool for the Empire, all because of the abilities he was now seeking to learn. It was this moment exactly that had pushed Aryn to learn, and to embrace the force, certainly not so he could join the Empire as she had wished, but to keep himself safe, to protect himself in a galaxy that seemed consistently out to get him.

He knew none of this was real, there was no way she could have been there. But still, he could feel the bindings around his wrists, around his legs, keeping him from moving as he struggled against the bonds. The twisted grin of the woman who stood over him just spread wider as she watched him. "Good, that's right, show me all your new-found powers, hm? Break free..." He hated how she goaded him, a spark of anger rose up in him as he kept struggling, fighting against the binds that kept him trapped. He had spent his time training and learning to avoid this very thing, now that he was in a situation like this, he should have been able to fight it, to escape on his own. As he grew more frustrated, her smile only seemed to grow more twisted, but suddenly - clarity hit him like a wave.

Slowly, his hands settled back to rest against the restraints, he was not struggling anymore, and his eyes shifted up to meet those of the woman who stood over him. She had been the catalyst for his change, the driving force behind his desire to learn, and the greatest enemy he had thus far faced. But he had not learned what he had, and did not seek to learn more, for revenge, or to hurt her. She had been his enemy, certainly, there was no doubt in his mind of that, but he would not hunt her across the galaxy, there was no need, and more importantly, it wasn't the Jedi way... "No." His answer was simple as he sat there, but the frustration on her face was evident. Reaching to her belt, she pulled a lightsaber, activating it. The red blade lit the tunnel around him, but no fear pierced Aryn as he lay there. As she raised it, he closed his eyes, feeling the heat as it drew nearer and the sound as it was swung...

Aryn opened his eyes as he heard the sound of stone shifting, and found he stood at the end of the hall he'd walked down in the first place. Now it opened into another room where he could see Bellek waiting. Stepping inside, he took a brief glance back down where he had come from, rubbing his head for a moment as he shook the strange sensation from it. "Well, that was... Interesting." Aryn said plainly, turning his gaze back to Bellek with a look of equal curiosity and concern. The room they stood in was almost identical to the first, but in the center of it sat a small box, within that same box sat two items, a small holocron, undoubtedly the kind which usually held basic lessons for new padawans, and a small crystal, its faint blue hue humming with energy.

Bellek had come out of his chamber before Aryn, and he noticed the curious look on Teth's face. More than anything, he had to hold back a smile. He made it through. As much as he was surprised at that fact, he was just more pleased by it than anything. He nodded at Aryn's statement, letting out a scoff. "On your end too, huh?" He motioned to the small box in the middle of the room, walking over to it and opening it up. Immediately he knew which was meant for who, even without noticing that they were on the corresponding side for their receiver. A holocron, and a crystal. A smirk finally came across his face as he turned back to Aryn, the holocron in one hand. "This is for me."

Walking towards Teth, he held out the blue crystal in his other palm. "And this is for you. You never told me your name, by the way." He waited with the crystal in hind, more curious as to the man's reaction than anything. Did he know what this was, or the significance of it? Bellek had doubts about that, but he learned a long time ago what assuming did for him, and it never went well. Bellek paused for a moment, more waiting for Aryn to answer his first question before he asked another as it came to his mind. "How was it? The test you had in there?"

At first, Aryn raised an eyebrow as he examined the items Bellek drew from the case. The first he recognized, it was similar to the one he had been using to train, though its square shape was different to the one he'd been provided to use as the spark of his training. The crystal caused pause for Aryn however. Reaching out, he took it. The second his fingers touched its surface, he felt a surge of energy within himself, an invigoration which flowed through him and outward. The very taking up of this small object had marked a turning point for the young Jedi, the force radiating out him, almost like a call. It took only a few moments as he stood with the crystal in his hand for Aryn to realize what he had been given, a curious 'huh' leaving his lips as he glanced over it before looking back up to Bellek. "Now I just need all the other bits, hm?"

He smiled, but as Bellek spoke again, he chuckled awkwardly. Aryn only then realized he had completely skipped introductions, having been so focused on getting through this sort of trial. "Aryn Teth, sorry, was a bit distracted before." He paused at Bellek's next question, glancing back towards the hallway he'd come from. There was still a chill down his spine as he looked back, he could feel the tingle of fingers over his shoulders, the piercing lull of the voice in his ears, and he mentally cursed himself for just how vivid of an image the Sith had left in his mind. "Not exactly what I had been expecting." He settled on vaguely, glancing back toward Bellek with a shrug.

Bellek was still curious, and trying to read Aryn's actions, how he said things. If he were some kind of powerful mind-reader, or he was willing to just read minds, this would be much easier. That would hardly be fair to do even if he thought he could, though. He listened quietly to the name, mulling it over in his mind as he tried to think if it was familiar or not. Maybe he'd seen one other Teth before in his life, but it certainly hadn't been this one. It was a human, though...he found it difficult to tell some humans apart, truth be told.

"It never is, trust me." He hadn't expected his test, either. That's what this was, right? A test. He assumed it had to be. "We can talk while we walk. Best not to hang around." This was the first step to being a Jedi, after all. If he'd learned one thing in the small temple on Ryloth, it was that the main skill of the Jedi Order was walking and talking. It sometimes felt like that had been all he did for hours, some days. He began strolling his way down the chamber, towards where he thought an exit was likely to be while he put the holocron away in one of his pockets. "You mentioned earlier...you're looking for lessons, right? You want to learn something?"

Bellek had considered being more subtle about it, but when had he ever been good at that?

As Bellek began to walk, Aryn moved and fell into line alongside him. They continued down the corridor at the end of the chamber, soon enough finding themselves heading up a dark staircase not dissimilar to the one they had gone down on the way to their 'trial'. Reaching down to his belt, Aryn gently tucked the crystal away inside one of his pouches, still feeling its hum through the force as he momentarily rested his hand upon the soft leather of the pouches exterior. He thought on Bellek's words as they walked. He had indeed been searching for some kind of lesson, or something which would tell him more of his abilities, so he gave a slight nod as he walked alongside the Twi'lek in the dark, slowly ascending to the larger opening of light at the top of the staircase. "I've known I am force-sensitive for months, well, years, now, but I only recently started trying to train and learn, that was what I was here for, holocrons, books, anything to further that." He shrugged nonchalantly as he continued up the stairs.

As they reached the top of the stairs, Aryn heard the familiar sound of beeping, and felt as BB-3 rolled over and into his legs. He groaned at the weight of the droid and chuckled for a moment before he glanced up, raising an eyebrow. They had found themselves back in the very same chamber they had begun in, despite not once turning around, and finding themselves in a different chamber after their own 'trials'. He glanced back down the stairs, the darkness encapsulating the bottom of it as he could not see the room they had come from, before he turned his gaze back towards Bellek. "Well, that's weird." He decided plainly, watching the Bellek for any indication of whether or not this was indeed weird, or more or less the norm.
