Public The Search

Signal lands on the planet of Nar Shaada where he suspects his parents killers to be hiding, a whole year of work and search has come to this moment and he can't mess this up. He only has one goal in his mind: Avenge his parents and make the ones who committed the crime suffer. After walking around the city looking to find anymore clues as to where the killers were, he decides to relax and collect his thoughts at a nearby bar. "Someone has to know something here right?" he tells himself as he walks through the door of the bar, blasting music playing from the live band and many drunk people dancing horribly to the music. Signal takes a seat by the bar and orders a drink...

Shakolt had been quietly sitting in one of the stalls alone, his entire focus on a dagger layed out on the table. The dagger itself looked unassuming but all who sat around it felt uncomfortable around it, almost cold. The dagger in fact was a Sith poison blade used during the New Sith Wars. Shakolt had spent the last few weeks building connections and digging around in the under levels of Nar Shaada, from crime lords to gang leaders Shakolt learnt of their names and their pasts all for one purpose. There had been news of relics from the old Sith Academy which had long been buried beneath the continued upward expansion of the city world and Shakolt used their knowledge of Nar Shadaa to try and find it. So far all he had discovered the dagger amongst the skeletal remains of a Sith Assassin in training with the discovery only expanding his never ending hunger for dark side knowledge. Anyone trained in the force would be able to sense it, the unease it brought about while those in the dark side of the force would able to sense something more. It felt as if the dagger contained the souls of all those it had killed.

While the patrons around Shakolt seemed to drift away feeling the coldness in the air he stared at the dagger with a piercing gaze. "What secrets do you hold" he said to the dagger. He looked into it and saw but a glimpse of the past, a vision lasting no longer then a second showing the history of the dagger. His own force powers were not enough to view it all and this built up rage inside Shakolt. He felt his hunger expand upon the glimpse of knowledge provided. He needed more.

Signal was about to take a sip out of his drink until he feels something odd, as if something was calling to him. He put his drink down and stands up wandering around the bar trying to avoid all the drunks dancing. This feeling, it's as if it reminds him of the old times back when he was apart of the Jedi and sith order. He stands still, clearing his thoughts and lets the force do all the work.

Still with his eyes closed, he slowly turns towards a random corner of the bar and opens his eyes. There sits a shady looking guy looking down. Signal didn't want to approach the strange person but the force ultimately forced him to approach them. Signal slowly walks towards the table hand on his blaster ready in case anything bad happens. Signal takes a seat awkwardly across from the strange figure...

(Btw as you can see im not that good of a writer so sorry you had to read that, I also don't really know how these interaction scenes work so bare with me)

Shakolt continued to stare down at the dagger, at first not even noticing Signal had sat down. He was inciting ancient Sith chants in some futile hope that it would trigger the vision once more. All he had seen was the death of each of the assassins victims, too fast to identify anything. Shakolt closed and rubbed his eyes and looked up to his astonishment to find a man sitting across him. It took the Arkanian a second to process it and in one motion grabbed the dagger, letting it drop on his lap and he pulled out his holdout blaster and pointed it right at Signal. At first Shakolt was tempted to shoot him, the man had seen the dagger after all and he wouldn't have to worry about the law on Nar Shaada. But then Shakolt sensed something else. A darkness in him, a rage but for what exactly Shakolt could not tell. He lowered the blaster.

"Hello there" he said trying to get a measure of the man. He was cloaked and wearing a mask, obscuring his identity. "You're not the typical high-on-spice drug addict or lunch money stealing gangster I've come across." Shakolt said while trying to sense who this man was but no avail. His force sensitivity was too weak to go further so all he could see was the hint of darkness. "So I've decided to not to try and kill you. Instead I ask you this; what has brought you to my table?" Shakolt motioned around to the relatively empty space between them and the rest of the patrons. "Not many have come to visit me tonight as you see." he continued, speaking with a refined and high class accent. Under the table he fiddled with the dagger, almost as if he was unable to let go.

Signal, kind of amused from the comment he just made, "You? Kill me? Right." He almost forgot why he approached the table but had another feeling hit him. He then remembered seeing something drop off the table as the man noticed him, "Show me what you were just looking at" Signal felt that the man had a hint of force powers but not enough to harm him and used his superior abilities to try and get what he wants.

Shakolt Tulgud was disheartened by Signal's disregarding of his threat. Maybe the tiny holdout blaster wasn't as threatening as he thought. The next thing Signal did was demand him to show what he was looking at. Shakolt gripped the dagger, feeling the dark side radiate off of it. He had found the dagger and it was his, only his, the knowledge it had was Shakolt's to claim he thought. Despite his limited strength in force sense he knew right away the man who sat before him was stronger in the force. His connection was powerful but felt almost untrained. Perhaps his superior abilities might prove of some use to Shakolt, touching the dagger had after all triggered a vision for the Arkanian cultist.

Slowly he pulled out the dagger and dropped it onto the table, a cold feeling magnified now that it was out in the open. "You may look." he said as it was presented before him. "This is no ordinary dagger although I'm sure you know that." he said with a smirk. "Its the reason for my visit. The reason I've scoured across the planet and built all the connections I have. I've trudged through this forsaken planet, wading my way through the murderers and thieves just for this blade." he said, once again staring at it intently. As he stared he looked back at Signal. "You have yet to answeer my question."

When Shakolt Tulgud placed the dagger onto the table, Signal felt the power the single dagger possesses and blanked out until the man demanded an answer to his question, "This dagger, I sensed it all the way from the bar, it felt like it was calling for me and I had to answer." Signal has seen this blade before...

His memory fades back to when he was training under the sith empire, he's read about this blade somewhere but can't really remember what type of power it contains.
"Do you have any idea what this dagger does?"

Shakolt's suspicions of Signal's force powers were confirmed. The dagger had even called to him, showing his darkness in the force. "This dagger, is a Sith Poison Blade. It's imbued with Sith alchemical poison and the force by Sith assassins. The force holds the poison on the blade and any who are stabbed with it succumb to the poison, no matter how big the cut making it the perfect assassination weapon." he continued admiring the blade. "Many of these blades were crafted but this one is special. It dates back to the New Sith Wars, an ancient time when a Sith Academy existed on this backwater world. This particular blade also seems to have a..." he paused, looking for the right word. "...a history. The kills of its previous owner imprinted into it as if the very souls of his victims reside in the dagger."

Shakolt under any ordinary circumstance would never share this much information but to find someone so interested in the dagger, that was a rare occasion and so he had decided to open his big mouth. He looked up as he spoke to see Signal's reaction, a mixture of awe and desire from the call of the dagger. "I wish to use the dagger to glimpse into the past and find out more about the Brotherhood of Darkness." he continued. he picked the dagger back up and pointed at Signal with it. The man intrigued him more and more and he wished to find out about him. "You say the dagger called you. No ordinary spacer can claim they hear the call of a Sith weapon. So who are you then?"

Signal, clearly amazed by the power of the dagger and not wanting to lose the opportunity to work with it opens himself up a little bit for the first time in years, "My name is Signal, I was a member of the sith and now I'm looking for the people who have murdered my parents, which is why I'm here on this planet." Signal, after saying basically everything about him, feels a bit shocked as he's never told anyone that much about himself before, but that blade... that blade is changing his behavior, he knows that this blade could help him avenge his parents. "And you? Who are you and what are you doing here?"

Shakolt smiled as the dagger's sway had caused Signal to be sloppy. A former sith seeking revenge, not tied down to any faction in the galaxy. "Looking for murderers? On Nar Shaada? You won't have to look far" he said before deciding to open up about himself. "I'm an archeologist and cultist of sorts. You may call me Tulgud. I have come to seek the Sith temple on this planet for I hunger for the knowledge it may provide. So far my own force abilities have proven inadequate in reaching it." he said before looking to Signal.

"Perhaps we may come to an agreement of sorts?" he said as a grin formed on his face. "You need someone with underworld contacts and I need someone to help me get to the temple." he said insinuating they could help each other. Shakolt wasn't exactly a Sith either so he did not look down on Signal for having left that life behind.

Signal pauses for a second thinking of the different ways this could go and ultimately decides that this could be the best way for him to avenge his parents, "I think the only way we're both going to achieve what we want on this planet will need for us to work together." Signal, however, is still reluctant considering that he's used to working on his own and whether or not this will actually work out.

"I feel if we can find the sith temple that you are seeking we can find the true power of that dagger and then we can go avenge my parents, then we both get what we want and be on our way. How does that sound to you?"

Shakolt nodded as he listened to Signal's proposition. It seemed fair enough, he could gain access to the Sith Temple and Signal could have his revenge. "I agree to these terms." he said cautiously. Despite their common goals Shakolt would monitor Signal in case he attempted to seize the knowledge and power for himself. Whether it was a mixture of paranoia or past experiences Shakolt was unsure but one can never be too careful. He stood up and picked up the dagger sheathing it. He watched for Signal's response as he took it. "What shall we hit first? I know a way to either one of our goals." he said, securing his own helmet into place and holstering his pistol.

Signal stands up, thinks about what he’s about to the one last time and starts making his way to the exit of the bar assuming that Shakolt was following behind. Suddenly, a drunk person in the bar and starts getting in the way of Signal. Signal impatiently mumbles, “get out of the way...” The drunk disregards Signals threat and continues taunting the now fed up force user.

Then all of a sudden the drunk man starts levitating up in the air and gets flung to the other side of the bar, it was Signal. He’s waited too long for this moment and he’s not about to have a drunk bastard delay it any longer. Whilst everyone was distracted by the man who was just launched across the room, Signal swiftly exits the bar and focuses.

Being apart of both the Sith and the Jedi, Signal has learnt how to control the force both peacefully and aggressively. Remembering what his Jedi master has taught him many years ago, he shuts his eye and clears his mind, and let’s the force take over.He suddenly opens his eyes and turns towards Shakolt,“it would make more sense for us to locate the sith temple and learn more about the blade, we could possibly use it to help me complete my mission.”

Shakolt followed him out. He felt the blade almost calling on out to Signal. Perhaps the man was correct, the blade could be used to help him. As soon as they exited the bar Shakolt pointed to two swoop bikes. "Those belong to our drunken friends indoors and you know what they say, never drink and drive." he said before approaching one of the bikes. "I say we commandeer these bikes for our own little search." he said getting a feel for it.

"The Temple doors are located in the underlevels, Scavengers have been trying to get in for a while but to no avail. I believe to open the doors we need someone with your connection to the force." he said before zooming off on the bike. The two bikes had been set up with a holocommunicator allowing easy communication. "Once we unravel the secrets off the temple I shall hold up my end of the bargain." he said. On usual occasions he wouldn't normally disappearing as soon as he got what he wanted. But this time was different. Signal interested the Cultist.

Signal smiles behind his mask after what Shakolt had said about the bikes, "Maybe this guy isn't so bad" he said to himself, while slowly lowering his guard and suspicion about the cultist. Signal makes sure he has all his gears for the final time before hopping onto one of the swoop bikes and follows Shakolt to the underlevels of the planet.

As arrived closer and closer to the lower levels of the planet, he could sense the power of the blade slowly increasing,
"I wonder what you can do.." Signal says to himself referring to the power of the blade. As his senses of the blade keep getting stronger, so did his curiosity about the blade and where it came from, Signal decides to open up some conversation with the still mysterious person that he met and all of a sudden going to a sith temple with, "I'm curious about the blade, you said back at the bar you've fought to attain this blade so you must have some knowledge on what it can do, tell me about it."

"The blade?" Shakolt replied. "As I said, the blade is ancient weapon perfect for assassination. According to the inscriptions on it a single cut will poison the victim with alchemical poison." he said. Shakolt looked down and it turned out he had unconsciously now held onto the blade. "I tried it on one of the lowlifes down here, gave him a small little cut and stalked him to see if the inscriptions were true. Not much seemed to happen though but I have a hypothesis." Shakolt was protective of the blade yet it seemed as if Signal's call to it was stronger.

"From my studies I have read about a sheathe for it, technology similar to a universal energy cage which could nullify the call of the dark side. With the sheathe I believe the dagger could become whole, activating its poison abilities. The sheathe could also render its presence hidden from anyone." he continued. Despite the lack of sheathe anyone could feel cold and the pull to the dark side. Whatever power it may hold and the secrets of its past must lay within the temple.

As they continued to descend the dark side could be felt and it seemed less and less people were down there with them. As the pull got stronger soon the only people present were scavengers half crazed from the exposure to the dark side from the temple. "Watch yourself. They have been trying to get into the temple for a while and it has had... an effect on them."

"What do you mean "eff-" Mid sentence Signal felt another calling he instantly stopped his speeder bike and looks down a weird alley-way where you can't see the end. "Did you sense that? The blade is guiding us, it's this way" Signal instantly turns his bike towards that direction and speeds down the alleyway.

A few moments after speeding through the alleyway Signal felt something else, something... different. Signal stops dead on his tracks and right then a laser bolt gets fired in front of him. Signal looks up to where the shot came from and see a large group of people starting to spread out holding rifles. "How nice of the blade to take us here huh?" Signal pulls out his lightsaber and ignites it, ready for a fight.

As laser bolt comes flying down towards the two of the adventurers, Signal deflects most of the bolts that are coming towards him with his light saber and manages to take one or two down. He then looks over to Shakolt to see how he's doing.

"Wait!" Shakolt said but it was too late. Shakolt made a sharp turn and followed Signal down the alleyway. "This is Nar Shaada. Going down a dark alleyway is the last thing you should do." he continued but Signal seemed determined. Shakolt felt the dagger reaching out to Signal as the drove which was peculiar to the Arkanian. He began a holorecording "Nar Shaada log 212, the Sith dagger I found now seems to be calling another, a dark force user with greater force abilities than my own. Whether this is because of his force powers I'm still unsure. I shall continue to document this individual. End log." he said before pulling up next to Signal's speeder.

"Exactly why we don't wonder through the underworld. Might I remind you the dark side from the temple has possibly warped these people's minds!" he said s the laser bolts came flying towards him. Shakolt turned his speeder, and hopped behind it using as cover, drawing his electrobaton and holdout pistol he began firing at the group.

"We need to close the gap. Take us in" he said before moving behind Signal, relying on his ability to block as cover while letting off a few shots. Looking behind a 2 of the scavengers charged them with make shift melee weapons but Shakolt took them down. He parried the vibrosword of the first one and fired a shot right between the man's eyes before dodging the second one's swing and smacking him in the head with his baton. The man cried out as he was electrocuted. Shakolt pulled his baton away and the man fall to the floor, twitching and smelling like burnt devaronian. Every time he killed one of the thugs he felt the dagger pulse. "Interesting. Wonder if Signal feels it." he thought

Signal, instead of going to find cover and formulate a plan with Shakolt Tulgud , he decides to go on the offense. He force leaps up to the ledges where the shooters were stationed and starts beheading and amputating anyone that happens to get in the way. Signal felt it, he felt the power of the blade within him, it seems that every time he strikes someone down, his power and connection with the force strengthens. Like an addiction, he couldn't get enough of this feeling, taking on one after another. It only took Shakolt and him a few more minutes to clear out the remaining forces and Signal puts away his saber and makes his way back to where Shakolt is.

Did you feel that? Signal asked rhetorically as he can sense Shakolt felt it too. This blade... I can't wait to see the true nature of it once we find the temple. Speaking of which it shouldn't take us that long to reach the temple. Signal gets back on the speeder waiting for Shakolt to be ready. This blade could be the solution to all my problems... Signal thought to himself.

"I felt it as well." Shakolt said while he held the dagger. "The temple is indeed close. We should make no time to get there." he said hopping on the swoop bike once more and zipped off down the decrypt and abandoned streets of Nar Shaada. The dagger had lusted for blood and they would need the sheathe if they were to continue. Soon they would come to a scrap heap and Shakolt hopped off his swoop bike and moved a large sheet of metal aside revealing a small tunnel. "We continue through here." he said walking through, activating his helmet light. The tunnel was small and dark, whispers of the dark side coming from every crack and crevice.

Soon the pair would come across the temple door, overgrown by dark vines. The door was inscribed with ancient Sith runes, with no visible way of opening the door. Anyone who approached could feel the overbearing and oppressive feeling of the dark side all around them. On the floor lay the skeletal remains of people, some explorers who had gotten lost while others innocent people, caught by the draw of the dark side, unable to leave it after they had gotten the scent of it. While the temple was no dark side nexus it was strong in it. Lord Kaan's Sith Assassins trained here in ancient times but the temple was sealed after his defeat at the hands of the new Republic.

Shakolt rested his hand on the door, closing his eyes and letting the dark side flow through him. "I have theorised that his temple needs the force to open and has been sealed for a long time, perhaps since the Sith Lords sealed it at the end of the New Sith Wars." he said while admiring the door. He turned to Signal and pointed at him. "I am not strong enough in the force to open it but perhaps you are. Channel your dark side energies, your deepest rage and open up this temple so we may unlock the secrets of the ancient Sith assassins."
