The Second Mandalorian Crusade: Mand'alore the One

Gilamar Skirata

The most important step is always the next one
Mandalore-Keldabe: MandalMotors Hall

The time was now.

For too long had Mandalore stood alone. Sure, they held allies in the Republic and the Omega Protectorate, but the planets that were under their influence had held one puprpose. To feed the Mandalorian war machine. Millions of mines had been set up in prime locations collecting the fuel and minerals they needed to produce their stealth technologies and pump thousands of war machines out of MandalMotors shipyards. But with the Sith growing every day and the Mandalorians so close to their enemy...Those resources were at risk.

They needed to be protected, and the people needed to be able to protect themselves as well as the resources that the Mandalorians held dear as well as protect the families that they held dear. What Gilamar was about to propose, the reason he had sent organized the gathering of all the chiefs of Mandalore was a simple idea.

Looking up, clad in his dark brown armor, his cape set neatly on his back and his helmet before him on the table he spoke to his fellow Mando'ade. <I have gathered you all here today to express a concern. It is something that haunts me. Within our "sphere of influence" we hold hundreds of worlds, millions of people. Of course, her on Mandalore and on our moon of Concordia our people thrive and live lives relatively free of terror. This is because we are a strong, hardy people!> A pause.

<However...Those others under our influence...Their worlds are still ravaged by the shadow of the plague. Their worlds' populations are ruled by warlords and raiders. Every day their very existence is at risk. They know of us as we have destroyed such governments and liberated such people. However, they are still weak, barley able to stand on their own. I say it is time that we welcome these people with open arms. Place aid and train them, welcome them into the Manda. It will be difficult yes...But while we lend them our strength, they will find it in their hearts to join us in good faith.>

<What I recommend to you is a Crusade, not of destruction and death, but of life and prosperity. I propose, a second Mandalorian Crusade.>

Ordo sat at the table in his cold black armor with the other assembled Aliir'buirs. It was not overly publicized but he was acting chief of the ancient clan Ordo, but he was, and since his return to Mandalore, he had a lot of work to catch up on. There were Yaims to be built crops to be rotated gear to be fixed or replaced and the time was the hardest thing to come by. However, the issue on the table was something that was bigger than just a clan or a planet.

Ordo set his Buy’ce on the table in front of him and wiped his scar ridden face with a big heavy hand. Ordo had an idea what was being said here, but he wanted things to be clear. He wanted to get everything between the assembled Aliit’buirs to be as open as they could, because if Ordo was going to commit his clan to anything it had to be 100%, and he couldn’t give 100% without hearing everything in plain terms.

“Ner Vod, you know I look up to you and your aliit, but let’s lay it on the table just what are you suggesting?” Ordo asked in a calm tone. He was willing to do anything for Mandalore, or any of the vode, and his mind, despite the abuse it had received over the years, began calculating the implications of what he thought Gil was saying.

With a nod he stood and tapped the holoscreen on his forearm plate, activating a holomap display above the table. The map was one they all knew well, it was of Mandalorian Space, the red and blue clouds that penetrated the map a grim reminder of the two large powers they were stuck between. <What I am proposing young Ordo...> A pause as the map zoomed in on the planet Concord Dawn. <Is that this,> an image of Concord Dawn now, months after the first assault by the Sith appeared next to the map. <Never again becomes this.>

Murmurs and grunts from around the table ensued. Some angry that the old man would bring up Concord Dawn like this, and some in in shame that they had allowed the Sith to best them the way they had.

<What I am proposing is an overall strengthening of the bond we have with the people under our protection. Setting up militias, training people, tightening our security to the east where we share borders with the Sith. Setting up early detection protocols and an overall strengthening of the Mandalorian People.> he finished. Taking a breath and releasing it slowly. <I also intend to have the Death Watch defectors re-integrated into our society and military.> Those last words brought curses and angry shouts to the table. He knew that last part was something of a sore spot for them all, but being as old as he was, though he was not the oldest here today, he knew that holding grudges wasn't something men did. It was a child's thing.

Ordo leaned back his suspicion satisfied. A fully patrolled and defended boarder, recruitment, training, and in time expansion. The last part was not intended but it was inevitable. The Manda called to the heart and kidneys, it drew in people and makes them something more. It forges them in fire and make iron from raw flesh. Ordo didn't need convincing he saw the Manda at work in this and would answer the call. The death watch surprised him it was strange. They wanted to make an empire and had become nothing but pirates. The true Mandalorians wanted to protect their families and homes and now controlled more than they had for centuries. Ordo listened as others expressed their hate and anger in different ways. He had a decision to make that may change the face of his clan forever. The Ordo clan fleet was coming together, and soon they would be set to put Gilamars plan into action, but they needed troops. A thought occurred to Ordo and he put up a hand respectfully calling attention from the other Aliit'buir's.

"Vode I expected what Vod Skirata said when I asked my question, but it was because I think he's right." Ordo said his deep voice booming out as usual, "Clan Ordo is prepared to carry out the plan as stated. As for the death watch, you can shoot me, but when I put on this armor who and what I was no longer mattered. Cin vhettin. These shaibuir stopped being vode when they ran off to RC-212, now if they want to forget their past and put the Resol'nare back on. I say Cin Vhettin, but if they pull something again they die."

Ordo leaned back and steeled himself for the barage he felt coming, and folded his hands on his stomach.

Verz spoke up for the first time since the meeting started. So far, he had just been listening to what the Clan leaders had to say. "Gilamar, you are correct. We need to strengthen our borders and the good will of our controlled worlds. To not do so would ignite rebellion. We do need a second Crusade. Not one against the Sith, or non Mandalorians. One against the wretched conditions many now live in. The galaxy sees us as organized barbarians. This will show that we are anything but barbarians. We are Mando'ade!"

With the combined voices of the acting Ordo Clan chief and Manda'lor Verz Horak the disquieted voices soon became silent. One by one the Chiefs began to voice their approval, though some more reluctantly than others, the general conssensus was to go along with this large plan of theirs. Soon questions began to fly at him one after another. How did he intend to bring these troops and supplies to these planets without drawing away from the military? How did he intend to keep such a vigilant eye on their territory without making the Mandalorians seem like dictators?

He had an answer for all of these questions. <Calm my brothers.> he began, speaking again in Mando'a. <Here, and here.> He said as he tapped the holoscreen on his forearm plate, bringing the holomap and image down and replacing them with three schematics. <I present to you both relics of the past and vigilant eyes.> Now the screen was filled with the schematics of an old Mandalorian Blockade Runner and two modified Shokita-Class stations. <With these and our new Ex-Death Watch allies I plan to create a work force that will serve as the muscle of our new crusade. I know, placing this duty in the hands of traitors seems risky, which is why Initiate @Azrael and myself will personally oversee the crusade. Volunteers will always be welcome. But as of today, I bring you, the new Mandalorian Crusaders!>

< I am more of a good offence makes a good defence type of man, Brother Gil!> The older mandalorian finally had piped in, speaking their native langauge. He wasn’t wearing his full beskar, actually he was only wearing the chest plate under his black nerf hide coat and a dirty pair of trousers and boots that had been covered in blood as if he had been working his butcher’s trade moments before coming to the meeting. In truth, that was exactly what he had been doing and the very moment this meeting was done he had a date with a Nerf carcass, so there was no point in changing.

<I agree, lets train a volunteer army to supplement the Mandalorians and bolster the defence. But lets not be weak and sit around thinking we are safe in our fortified section of the galaxy.> He locked gaze with Gil <If you want a proper crusade, I say lets reign upon those that pose a threat to our way of life and extinguish them from existence, including enemies abroad and within>

Garon's words drew a few gazes as well as a few nods of agreement from chiefs all around. Honestly, Gil couldn't argue with him. He would love nothing more than to jump on a shuttle and fly right into Dromund Kaas and shove his beskade right into the emperor's skull. But he also knew that right now, they were weak, not Keldabe per say, but their territory, their claims were barely hanging on by a thread and if something wasn't done to strengthen the bond between the Mandalorians and those that called their space home...then it was only a matter of time before an uprising occurred. So he had to disagree. <We will fight when we are strong Garon...But I cannot fully get behind an all out assault while we are in a crisis such as this.> he said, referring to the dead that walked among them. <First and foremost we need to flush this plague from our space at least if not more.>

Ordo leaned back and rubbed his chin. Clan Ordo had been used this way in ancient times. They once over saw the planet that bore their name. And if they were going to beat back the Sith and later who knows who else, they needed troops, and not just bullet sponges, but trained Mandalorian warriors. That couldn't happen if the people in their own boarders saw them as nothing more than wayward conquerors hear today gone the next. They needed to solidify their hold then push outward. Ordo looked toward Vod Garon then toward Vod Skirata.
‘We may be able to fight the Sith and beat them back all the way to Dromud Kass, and We may be able to take the planet and kill the emperor, but who would be watching our flanks. It would take everything we have to cut that deep into Sith territory, and like Vod Garon said, We have enemies close to home.” Ordo looked around to see if he had their attention and then continued, “What would happen after we use our forces destroying the Sith. There would be a rush by The Republic to claim everything they could grab and who knows that they wouldn’t decide to ‘free’ some of our territory as well as the Sith’s. I’m not trying to incite feelings against the Republic but Jetii and Dar’jettii are two side to the same coin, and no matter how you can it they are both expansionist governments. I think we need to fortify what we have before we turn our backs to fight anyone.”

All around nods and murmurs of agreement filled the room. With a grin Gilamar stood and looked over his brothers and sisters. "Then...? Mandalore, what do you say to this." he asked, now looking directly into the eyes of the young Mandalore, the old hazel eyes of Gilamar Skirata bore into him. What would be the final say in this meeting?

Verz met @[member="Gilamar Skirata"] 's gaze easily. He said mothing for a minute, to let the atmosphere build, because he could ba a chakaar like that sometimes. When he spoke, it was a single sentence. "Let's do this."

And that was that. The Mandalore had spoken, despite some Mandalorian's wishes, the crusade would begin. Though this might change how the Mandalorians worked forever...He knew that right now they needed that structure, that backbone. Their Mandalorian grit just wouldn't cut it anymore. Gilamar left that meeting with a purpose, a task if you will.

And he would fight like Hell to see that task completed.
