Location: Ahto City
Timeline: Shortly after the events of Coruscant
The Holonet stream was still reeling the various footage of the Jedi's fall on Coruscant and the Republic defeat at the hands of the One Sith, despite all this there was no sense of panic or urgency in Ahto City about the Galactic Events...there was something else. The people were focused on rebuilding what had been destroyed by the mysterious events when the Empire had invaded, the thousands who perished in an unherald storm, half of their city that sank to the depths of the ocean and with it went millions upon millions of beings. Entire generations of Selkath families killed, humans, royals, the entire government in Ahto City was still reeling with the political firestorm from the entire incident.
It took one brave woman from Naboo to step forward and calm the situation, to promise to find answers and bring the individuals responsible to justice. She didn't care if they were Sith, Republic or even a Jedi. The crimes that were committed in Ahto City would be paid for, as would be the blood that was spilt in the waters around the city itself....but it had been months. The rebuilding effort had taken most of the center stage while she was only able to handle some background investigation.
The things with the election of the new Supreme Chancellor and before she could host him, Coruscant happened. It was endless and at times she felt like she was losing hope and not going to be able to fulfill the promise to her people. Each time though, she felt in such a way, she would take a walk through the city and greet the constituents. She would talk to someone who had lost something dear or lost a loved one, a Selkath who lost a mate and by the end of her journey she made it to the upper levels of the new construction to see how it was progressing.
New Ahto City, or the Northern District as some had called it was larger in size than the older parts of Ahto City. It was like a half bowl, with large walls that had defense platforms at the top of the pillars. This came at the suggestion of several Republic members who noted Ahto City lacked any realistic defense systems against invasion or attacking ships. All this though, was nowhere near completion, it was months away and if someone came knocking now, they would be without any real defenses. They were a painted target save for the few ships overhead.
Alyesa herself sighed as she pressed herself against the massive railing that prevented people from falling to their death to the city below, her silvery hair whipping in the wind as she stared out into the city and the glistening blue ocean beyond. She loved it here, it was like the pupil of an eye whenever you approached from space. A glowing orb in the center of this glistening mass of water that was so clear, you could see the ruins of the underwater cities in some places. The sound of servos whirling and the clanking of metal caught her attention as she turned to look at her approaching TC-Series Protocol Droid. The shiny silver droid glistened in the sunlight causing her to wince a bit and take a step back from the railing just as the droid spoke, producing a datapad for her to look at.
"Lady Praxon, I have for you the latest numbers on the Coruscant casualties. Do you still wish for me to send condolences to the families of the fallen Republic soldiers?" The droid said in a feminine voice, tilting to the side as it held the datapad out to her. Alyesa sighed and looked at the massive scrolling list, not bothering to read names anymore before turning away. "I'll produce a letter on behalf of my Office and speak with the Supreme Chancellor and suggest he do the same." She nodded. "And then yes, have the harvesters pick moon lilies when they're in full glow and send them to the families."
"Excellent my lady." The droid stated before pulling the datapad back to it and moving away, heading back to the lift.
Alyesa pressed her back against the wall, and then her head, tilting it backwards to stare up at the passing white clouds. She heaved a sigh and brought both hands to her face and rubbed gently. "And it's all just getting started today..."
