The Shade Is Better (OPEN)

Jake Sorin

Tatooine... The heat was a constant pester for Jake, but the shade...the shade always feels better on a hotter planet. The dog wannabe wore his usual apparel blue jeans, his orange jacket, and his dog collar...always with the dog collar .

Jake tasted the sand in his mouth as he Began to push himself up, he had just been kicked out of a cantina.

"I told you to stay out....the last time you came in, you just left, and didn't pay your tab...I have half a mind to beat you, and leave you in the sand." The bouncer yelled from the entrance of the cantina.

Jake dusted off his clothes and spit out the sand in his mouth before looking back towards the Cantina.

"Whatever....I didn't want to do anything in there anyway." Jake yelled. he then fixed the dog collar that hung loosely around his neck before shoving his hands in his pocket and walking off. He looked up to the sky before looking around ahead of him.

"Man, all II wanted was some food, and a nice shady place to eat it." Jake complained as he walked towards a bustling marketplace.

Tatooine...Better Shade than none

Thraxis had grown bored of the Cantina's of Sriluur, he had been isolated there for months on end and was due for a vacation. Which consisted of a normal day, going to a Cantina, drinking the place dry, then going back to deal with the Pitts issues. He had visited Tattoine a lot, with a few bad business ventures but none the less, it had good booze, pleasant company and free entertainment. Most would look at its sandy violent nature as one to spit on, look down on and leave it alone, but to Thraxis, it was one of the few places he felt comfortable being strapped up.Rather then ostracized which is so common on more... civilized locals. He had adorned his Custom Armor and hidden in his belt his Pistolas. most of which covered by his Trenchcoat which only revealed his helmet and Gauntlets, though done nothing to hide the heavy footsteps that left their mark through the sanded streets.

He wandered across the planet, looking for any new Cantinas until his eye caught a man being kicked out of some establishment by a big man. Looks promising. he thought to himself as he strapped his hands into his pockets, looking at the Large Neon Sign, "Vomiting Lepers?" Oh well. I'm sure there are worse names out there." he said as he walked up to the bouncer, his hand waving as he looked as the man seemed a tad preoccupied by the vagrant he had just kicked out.

Thraxis went against his better judgement, the judgment being that this place sounded like it served fantastic drinks and decided to follow the boy with what appeared to be a... dog collar? Dog Collar? Huh. Well people have strange desires. He thought as he followed, his hands strapped in his pocket as he put his hand on the blokes shoulder. "Yo! Hey, so I need some directions. You know any Cantinas around here?" he said as he looked the boy up and down, he looked like he was still in his late teens but his height made him question if he was either tall for his age, or looked young for it.

Jake continued to walk, even as he heard a voice behind him, this voice following heavy footsteps. Jake stopped for a second before turning around to look at the man behind him. The man before him wore a heavy trench coat, Jake frowned before looking to the bright sky.

"Directions to a Cantina...hmmm." Jake said aloud, he then paused to look back at the man.

"Oh, well there was this one Cantina....which I was just thrown out of, but it might be unappealing." Jake trailed off before pulling on his collar.

"Other than that....haven't really been to any other Cantina's, I would point you out to a great one, but you know....it's a lot of work."

Jake remembered when he was younger, he would always act lazy around people, what else would a tall teenager do back then....or even now.

"I'm Jake." The Wannabe said to the man as he brought both his hands behind his head.

@Thraxis

Thraxis looked at the almost disrespectful actions, but then realized he had little reason to care, "Really? Looks like Tatooine changed then. Huh." he said as he scratched his head, looking around and thinking maybe he shouldn't have ditched the Vomiting Leper. He followed with a shrug as he looked around, taking his helmet of and putting it under his shoulder, a look of curiosity was falsely imprinted om the hopes that some vagabonds would try to take advantage.

He looked to the man as he said his name, it would be impolite if he didn't return the favor, "Thraxis, last name... Huh... can't seem to remeber. Ah well." he said with a flourish of his arm as he extended his hand, paying little heed as he put his arms behind his head.

"I guess it has." Jake said with a laugh. Jake then watched as the man took off his helmet.

The man then announced his last name, as he stuck his hand out and Jake began to laugh. "Ugh you people are all to formal....shaking hands....don't tell me you are one of those uptight army grunts.." Jake said, he then started to laugh.

"I'd shake your hand if you bought me lunch, but only if It meant that much to you Thraxis." Jake said with a small laugh. Jake wlked towards a booth and looked around.

"Know any good places to eat?" Jake said as he felt his stomach
[member="Thraxis"]

THraxis lips curled, "Hehehe... you could say I am a sort of.... entrepreneur in certain fields. But definitely not an upity tight army man." his arm then retracted at a fallen gesture, it seemed he had mistaken respect with formality, though it was easy to mistake the two. As his arm retracted his other went into his Trenchcoat, pulling out a small vial of brown swill, his eyes narrowing on it as he uncorked it, a quick pungent odor escaping from its lid and engulfing the air that breezed past it with an almost noxious odor. His arm pulling back to pour the swill back and letting loose a sigh as he put the empty vial back into its pocket.

"Places to eat? I only ever come here to drink. And get refills." he said as he tucked his hands back into his pocket, his shoulders rolling into a shrug as he looked around, the marketplace was sure to have something to eat, the question was how much was edible.

Jake smiled, 'an entrepreneur eh?' Jake thought to himself before sighing.

He watched closely as Thraxis took out a small vile from his trench coat and open it, the smell took a few seconds for the strong smell to hit the teen's nose.

"what is that?" Jake asked as he stepped back.

Jake then listened as the man spoke, "Well I guess that was too much to hope for..." Jake said a few seconds later he shrugged

"Whatever....anyway, anything you do for fun here...or do you spend all your time and credits drinking." Jake said as he looked around
[member="Thraxis"]

Thraxis raised an eyebrow, "It's booze. Made it myself. I am fairly certain it is at least ninety percent alcohol." he said with a cough as the drink hit his stomach like a cannonball, forcing a slight cough as he quickly recovered. He took a deep breath, inhaling the alcoholic scent before it dissipated with the wind and sand.

"Yeah... I kinda just spend credits and resupply my booze. Once tried an auction. There were a lot of Jedi, a lot of Sith. And all hell broke loose and had to get out of there. Other then that I don't really know what else there is to do around here." he said as he shrugged once more looking around the marketplace and noticing a lot of meat on sale, which he only imagined would go off by the end of the day.

Jake's eyes widened. "Ninety precent alcohol..." Jake then brushed his hands through his hair and sighed.

He then heard Thrask talk about an auction that he had been to. Jake smiled.

"An auction would be a different pace for me." Jake paused.

"Although one of the perks of not having a job is not having credits either." Jake said sarcasticlly.

"Where you from Thraxis? You seem like you have been to many places." Jake said as he moved his hands to his jacket pockets
[member="Thraxis"]

"Yeah... I don't really have a job. Kinda just do odds jobs for Justice Shipping." he said with a scowl, he had been given one job and the other one he had to personally invade since it seemed James didn't wanna go offering many jobs to him. It could have been because Thraxis taught him a lesson in respect and coming prepared, or that he just simply didn't like Thraxis.

He raised an eyebrow, he felt like saying straight out he was a monster, devil or horrible person was not the best path to take in a conversation with a stranger. "Where am I from? A lot of places, some horrible, like Zeltros, some wonderful, like here. But mostly I spend my time in the White Palace refining my... skills in a certain field." he continued as he started to smell the slabs of meat, an unsurprising fact since there where two suns hovering over the planet.

The marketplace was not one of Jan's favorite places. Too many people, too many variables, too many risks. The reason he went to the marketplace was the reason he did anything.

Credits.

Of course he could sell these Krayt dragon pelts anywhere on Tatooine, but he wanted to actually have some money to spend afterward, Plus, he had something special today. A Krayt Dragon Pearl, priceless in today's market. Jan moved swiftly through the crowd He almost made it to his vendor, untill he felt a hand go into his pocket. He grabbed the hand and looked into the Jawa'e eyes as they filled with fear.

Seriously a Jawa?

He gave a grunt of disgust and punted the Jawa into the air. Jan watched it fly in the air until it came back down and landed on some guy in a trench coat. Jan chuckled until he recognized it was a member of the Hutt Cartel. Jan immediately turned around and started walking away, hoping the Cartel didn't see who punted the Jawa.

[member="Thraxis"]

Thraxis turned to catch a Jawa in his arms, cradling it as if it was a baby. "Huh. You guys are kinda cute." he said as he placed it down, taking out a few credits and placing it in the little things hand, "Go on then. Go get yourself something to eat." he said with a smile, today was a day to assimilate himself in with the local populace, to help see how to act better. Though his eye caught the man who had decided to punt such a small creature.

"Gimme a sec. Got something to deal with." he said to Jake, his arm flicking his trenchcoat as he moved towards the man, showing a glimpse of his armor beneath it. Moving through the crowd with gentle steeps that still managed to crunched through the sands. His arm raised as he quickly wrapped his arm around the man, his helmet back on as he looked at the man with a smile, one that would be hidden beneath his mask. "Hey guy. What ya doin' on a place like this huh?" he said as if he had been long time friends with this stranger for years.
[member="SirMayday"]

Jan mentally hit him across the head, when the Cartel member put his arm around him. Not good, not good. He scanned the man quickly taking in the armor, and stance quickly. Trained in combat, can't engage in close quarters too risky. No chance to reach either rifle, blades are in reach, but his hand is already around me, too risky. Engagement not an option.

Jan stared at the member and decided to say "This "place" I've been going to, I've been coming here since I was a child. I live close by, and I'm looking to sell some pelts I earned in the Dunes."

Jan put his hands into his armor, felling the pearl, while making it all look like he was adjusting his armor.

"I want no trouble, that Jawa was feeling my pockets." Jan said.

[member="Thraxis"]

"Neat. So then. I imagine..." he paused as his lips smacked, wondering what to do next, then it all clicked in his head. "You know where a good place to eat is then?" he asked quizzically as he looked to the man through the black visor, caring little as to what the Jawa had done, the little buggers couldn't get any real jobs of their own, nobody trusted them so was it a wonder why they would resort to petty pick pocketing.

"Though I do have to question. What makes you think I would be causing trouble?" he inquired, his eyes narrowing. It wouldn't be a long stretch for him to know he was a member of the Cartel, but they had been dispersing from the public eye for a long time now. And if this man ruined his plan of having a normal day, well then there would be a problem.

Aggressive stance, need to calm down situation, create exit.
Jan forced a smile as he said "A tourist, well welcome to Tatooine!! Places to eat? Well there is the Krayt Cafe around the corner." Jan pointed behind his right shoulder "They serve local delicacies that you can't find nowhere else around the galaxy!" Jan quickly answered the second question "You just seem the dangerous kind, sticking out in that trench coat and all. I bet your a merc, or a bad ol bounty hunter!" he said with fake excitement.

"I would love to take you there stranger, but I got some business to attend to........so enjoy your stay!!" Jan said while backstepping away from the man. Jan turned around sweat starting to form on his brow.

"All righty then, have a good day yourself." he said as he moved away, his hand gripping his pistola, his eye narrowed Pfftt. A man making an honest living here. More like someone ready to stab me in the back. he said as he moved towards the Krayt Cafe. His digits running along the handle of the gun, waiting for the first sound of gunfire to erupt.

(If he is not stabbed in the back)
He looked to be trumped, it seemed Jake had moved off somewhere or Thraxis had just gotten lost in the crowd. After a while of looking around he decided to sit down, next to one of the merchants. His eyes darting around the place, he decided that since every goes past this location, it would be a prime place to remain. This way he could keep his eyes fixed on anyone that might pass by.

Meanwhile.....
Jan was tense. He had a run in with a Cartel member, a Jawa tried to pickpocket him, and now he won't be getting as many credits as he thought. The human shopkeeper was happy to buy the skins, but when he saw the Pearl he got a evil look to his eyes.

"What is this...... a Krayt Pearl?" the shopkeeper mused.

He turned it over in his hands, gave it a sniff, and even licked it. Jan stared at the man through his mask. It would be illogical to tell him the details of how I extracted that pearl from the Krayt Dragon.

"It a fake, whoever gave you this cheated you. I would be glad to take it off your hands for 50 credits, so you get some money back kid." he said with a smile.

Jan couldn't believe what the man just said. He stared the men in the eyes and leaned forward into him. The shopkeeper flinched and took a step back, reaching underneath the counter.

"I have been doing business here since 11, and have never tried to pass forgeries or unsaleable materials in this shop in that time" Jan growled "So why the krak are you accusing me of bring a fake Krayt Dragon Pearl into this shop! When I know it's real because I'm the one that pulled it out of a Krayt Dragon I tracked for 4 hours!!

"Don't you dare yell at me" the shopkeeper yelled, as he pulled a blaster from under counter "Now get out of my shop!"

"........Fine" Jan said after a long silence "I'm going to go, and never come back, Find someone else to get you Krayt skins."

Jan grabbed the Krayt Dragon Pearl and stormed out the shop. As he left he took a metal object and stuffed it underneath the Krayt pelts he just sold.

"Hey , WAIT!! Let me take another look at i..." the shopkeeper whined as Jan went back into the marketplace.

Jan walked slowly through the marketplace, until he came upon the Krayt Cafe. He took a seat on a stool and ordered some Bantha milk. He then turned around and noticed the Cartel member he ran into earlier. He stared at him as he took off his helmet, and took a sip of his milk. He then slowly took a detonator out of his armor. He shook his hand loosely at the Cartel. I'm thinking he might enjoy the light show as much as me. He pressed the detonator and heard the explosion as his makeshift thermal detonator went off in the shop he just tried to sell the Krayt Pear in. Chaos erupted around him, merchants pulling out guns, civilians running through the market, and Jawas screaming with their arms in the air. Jan just sat in his stool , and lifted his glass of milk towards the Cartel member while raising an eyebrow. Welcome to Tatooine

[member="Thraxis"]

He had been lounging around the Cafe for a while now, ordering various delicacies which consisted of over priced food, almost falling to sleep. He had spent the whole day acting like a tourist waiting for someone to try and start something though it seemed no one had the courage. He was starting to think this was a bust, he needed to take some people to the White Palace to fill in some empty cells but if it came to it, he would have to start abducting children and normally they gave in by the second day.

Arrgghhh. A few more minutes of this incessant boredom and I might have to call it quits. he thought to himself with a mental huff. Though soon enough his wish was given, an eruption of chaos sounded behind him, and with it a grin of malice split across his face, his eyes narrowing to look at the man who had just raised a drink. It was the same guy who punted a Jawa, at least he could start a fight.

He rose from his seat, placing his helmet back on his head before pulling out his Pistolas, though before he left he had a present to give to the man who seemingly liked to stir trouble. He took a deep breath, focusing a torrent of emotions, his Zeltron blood heaving as he started to project his emotions, one of fury and rage onto the man. He had no intention of letting him not get involved in the fight.

Soon he had walked out the stiring of chaos left a pleasant scent of flame and burning throughout the place, all the while he made his way to one of the merchants stands, it seemed the man selling off meat was busy cracking some Jawa's skull with one of the hunks of flesh. Thraxis walked up to him, putting down his Pistolas and cracking his knuckles. After a few more steps his hands had gripped tight around his neck, twisting and jerking the mans Neck until he heard the satisfying crunch.
[member="Jan Valdum"]

Jan smiled as he saw the Cartel member give him a grin full of bloodthirstiness. Jan brought his drink back to his lips, and thought glorious images of the shopkeeper being consumed by a ball of fire. I just wished I would have seen the look on his face.

Then Jan tensed feeling his emotions erupt into turmoil. His emotions were rising up until he felt an emotion, he hadn't felt in a while. It wasn't anger, it was too strong, too mindless. He only felt like this when......... his mother died. It was building up like a flood, and he couldn't hold it in much longer. He tried to control it, with logic, but it was futile. The best thing I can do is direct it. Jan crushed the glass in his hand, and looked around liked a wild animal.

Jan saw a mother with a little boy running in his direction, and he grasped for his rifle. The mother saw him and stopped in her tracks. She hugged her child to her chest, trying to shield him with her body. No, NO, NO find.....different one.

"Run!" He said shakily. The mother nodded her head furiously, and ran by him as he slowly took his E-11 in his hands.

He spotted some Banthas, screaming in their pens on the other side of the market. Perfect

He aimed for their bodies, and starting shooting the Banthas. He aimed for legs, horns, and faces. He wanted to cause them as much pain as he could. KILL, MAIM, KILL, MAIM, PAIN!!!
