The Shadow of ...

Good people, lend me your ears!

Okay, so I am aware that we have a lot of threads and discussions about ranks and such, however, seeing as they sort of die out or drown in all the comments, I put this one in a new thread because I really want to air this idea on its own.

So we have the Aspect of War, Death, Famine, and Conquest, with their appropriate titles of The Red, Pale, Black, and White Assassin.

This is all well and good, but the underlings deserve a little something as well. The title I suggest is for an assassin working right under the Aspect and will be called the Shadow.

[member="Darth Ferus"] who is the Aspect of War would have a lieutenant called the Shadow of War.

The Aspect of Famine would have the Shadow of Famine.

The Aspect of Conquest would have its Shadow of Conquest.

And the Aspect of Death would have its Shadow of Death.

The origin of the 'shadow' lies in the Shadow's position as a direct servant to the Aspect. The Shadow would do preliminary work, gather intelligence, conduct assassinations that are beneath the Aspect, and represent the Aspect in times of absence. The Shadow would also have some authority over other SA as an agent of the Aspect.

It is also implied that the shadow is a student of the appropriate Aspect and will in all likelihood follow in the Aspect's footprints. With some valid exceptions such as becoming another Aspect or following a different career path. In which case the Aspect has to raise a new Shadow.

Now, how does this sound? Anything you would like to add, remove or comment on? Should there be only one shadow, or a selection?

This looks great! Good idea.

The bigger the faction gets, the more I feel this would make sense. Personally, I think the title of Shadow should only be held by one at a time. If you want, it could be a flexible position, where another hopeful assassin could challenge a Shadow for the title, to promote competition and growth through conflict.

Though having a title that could so easily change has its own problems. I think the Aspect should have some control over who the Shadow is, so open challenge might not be ideal. Maybe, for example, only an apprentice of the Aspect of Death may challenge the Shadow of Death for the title? So that the candidates are already approved beforehand, and the strongest hold the title of Shadow.

Just a thought.

Yay input.

I agree, personally I adhere to the idea of there being one Shadow to an Aspect. As for succession of Shadows and challenging for the position, I think it would be an OOC decision that could be carried out IC'ly. If a Shadow becomes inactive, a challenge such as the one you mention could be a pretext for another character to take its place as the Shadow by defeating the predecessor. That way there may also be jumps from one teacher to another, but these would IC'ly be exceedingly rare seeing as one becomes trained in a certain skill set by ones master. Thus an appr

I don't think this should be set in stone as the Sith are essentially a Meritocracy. The Aspect adopts the one they find the most suitable for the position.
