A powerful cabal of Force-using warriors, diplomats, and educators, the Sovereign Guardians serve their government and the High Sovereign in matters of war and peace-time alike as highly-skilled, elite personnel to be deployed wherever needed or ordered.Acting much like other Force Orders throughout the galaxy, the Guardians (As they are known informally) operate under their own code and are guided by a council of democratically elected members known as the Guardian Summit, who steer their organization and maintain their laws & mandates to ensure they stay true to the founding virtues of their creed. They are based within the Citadel, primarily their dedicated section of the fortress called the Bastion.
Those who are Force-sensitive are given a choice of joining their ranks as an initiate or to receive an education without being pressed into service. This unique offer is because within the halls of the Bastion, knowledge is sacred and is shared openly among all, with one of the core philosophies of the order is that wisdom will not be restricted or gated away behind memberships. As a result, there's a high focus on teaching those who wish to be taught, and passing on what you know so that you may continue to live through what you've imparted to your peers, and helping all those who seek them out.
However, all Guardians are primarily trained as fighters. Schooled in the art of the Lightsaber and its forms first and foremost, those learning are not forced to go on to build their own; instead, they are able to pick and chose which fighting style and weapon choice fits them, while still being knowledgeable enough to face down an enemy lightsaber user if required.
The Force and its teachings are central to the Guardians and their order. Whilst the organization itself lands somewhere in the neutral-light area of the light-to-dark spectrum of the Force, there are members who identify as wholly neutral. Those who lean more towards the dark are not seen often, or could possibly just not exist due to the order's leaning.
But above all their training and skill in the Force, service to the Sovereignty and her people comes first. The Guardians are identified & recognized by the state as a form of civil service, and it's not uncommon to see a member of the Summit doubling as a Senator or a Commander within other branches of government.

Whilst this is a symbolic role only, the High Sovereign is still considered a key part of the Guardians and is a respected advisor to the Summit and the order as a whole.
Guardian Summit:

The Summit is an elected body of Guardians who lead the group in all aspects, directing virtues and heading education. They are nominated to their role by their fellow Guardians, to ensure a democratic ascension to power.
