Queen of Naboo
The Spacers Guild
“We tread these stars long before there was the Republic, even longer than there was the League. The Outer Rim, the Southern Systems - it’s our home. It’s our birthright. It’s in our blood. We’re Spacers, tried and true. Per aspera ad astra.” - Aerin Denno, Guildmaster
Through Hardship, to the Stars
The Spacers Guild is the exploratory merchant marine of the Royal Republic. Built by the remnants of the Rimward Trade League and its allies, the Guild stands as a symbol of perseverance and freedom among those who call the Outer Rim their home. They seek adventure among the stars, taking their starships to the far reaches of the Southern Systems. Exploits of the Guild range from hyperlane trading and mercantilism to exploration and scouting missions.
Members of the Spacers Guild come from many walks of life and professions. Some are trade barons and merchants, others freighter captains and smugglers. The Guild stands as a union between them all, a common table for all Spacers to sit beneath the protective banner of the Royal Naboo Republic. Without fear of invasion or attack, the Guild focuses on what it does best: building bridges and making credits.
Organization
The Spacers Guild is overseen by a Guildmaster who is elected by popular vote of all fledged members of the Guild. It is the responsibility of the Guildmaster to maintain positive relations between Guild members and chapters, ensure fair trade laws are passed and upheld, and to settle disputes between Guild members and clients without unnecessary bloodshed.
Members of the Guild are encouraged to work independently as they see fit, but camaraderie with fellow Spacers is the best way to strengthen the Guild’s network. Republic space is divided into several regions, each of which is overseen by a Guild Handler who doles out exclusive missions and contracts to the Guild’s finest. Attracting the attention of these Handlers is often the difference between run-of-the-mill jobs and the elusive “big score.”
During times of strife or war, the Guildmaster may commence a moot with the Handlers, who convene to make decisions on the Guild’s direction. This may manifest as scouting assignments, blockade runs, civilian evacuations, or relief missions. The Guildmaster is bound by code to support the Royal Republic Defense Force however it needs upon the consensus of the Handlers, who then delegate missions to the rest of the Guild.
Self-Taught Heroes
Some may view the Spacers Guild as little more than a gang of ruffians and errand boys, but they are so much more than that. Many of the Spacers were pilots and engineers in the Rimward Defense Forces, having fought dozens of bloody battles against pirates, slavers, corporate armies, and even the Sith Order. Each captain is just as unique and powerful as the frontier worlds they hail from, be it Sullust or Sevarcos.
Guild pilots are trained on the frontier by veterans of the Sanrafsix Crisis and Kal-Shabbol Run, two of the League’s deadliest battles - both of which were decisive victories. Piloting schools on former League worlds train Guild recruits as needed, but most new members earn their wings on Toshara, where they fly both planet-side through amberine canyons and in orbit through the massive Imperial wreckage field.
