Intent: A low-profile, highly-modular neural implant suitable for using a single Aurek or Zerek Node.
Development Thread: None
Manufacturer: iBorg
Model: iBorg Spark Neural Implant
Affiliation: Open market
Modularity: The Spark is effectively a microcomputer capable of serving as an Aurek Socket or a Zerek Socket.
Production: Mass-produced
Material: Desh-terenthium, noted for its very high tensile-strength-to-weight ratio. Reflec, insulating the implant from casual scans but not more invasive, precise scans (such as from medical scanners or weapons scanner gates).
Description:
- (+) Capable of serving as an Aurek or Zerek Socket, meaning it allows the wearer to plug in a single Aurek or Zerek Node (full list available here).
- Comes with a datapad-style screen/interface as depicted above.
- (+) Low-profile design, surreptitious placement, and masked from casual or remote scans.
(+) Powerful internal firewalls and slicing countermeasures. Sufficient interference will automatically trip a hard break in the datalink's circuits, preventing all possibility of communication or slicing unless the user decides to reactivate the datalink. Note that the Spark does not include a comlink; this point is in reference to potential use of a node with communication functions.
(-) EMP/ion damage will temporarily disable the implant, often causing data corruption or loss, but cause no cognitive/nerve impairment.
The Spark can be used by humans, near-humans, Twi'leks, some humanoids, and Selkath. Consult your physician before use if you are not near-human.
(+) Waterproof.
(-) Though the Spark can be implanted alongside other implants, and its implant site can be easily upgraded to fit more powerful implants, it is not recommended for use alongside other brain implants, nor is it recommended to use two Sparks. Consequences can be lobotomical.
(-) It does exactly one thing: serve as a receptacle for a single modular node. The Spark has no other functions at all.
