The State of the Galaxy

Ossus

Maria had come back to the planet of the Jedi once again after having been... possessed. Lots of time had passed since the last time she was in Republic space and felt the good aura of the Light Side. It felt amazing to be there again. Her short visit to Crystalsong - a planet full of strange mystical energy - had made her a bit sickly and now all she wanted was to take a short break.

She was wearing her Jedi robe, which she hadn't worn in months. The maroon colour of it was different from the standard pieces of cloth Jedi typically wore; it showed her history of being a Sith just like her lightsaber did. Underneath the red, one could notice a black shirt.

Holding a cup of something in her left hand, she leaned forward, holding her right hand on her legs and that way balancing herself. Her emerald eyes stared into the abyss but not to try to look for something. She was thinking.

What the kark is going on?

She was not worried about herself. She was worried about the galaxy. In the outer rim planets, everything was simple. Unless you were governed by a faction, the only problems you had were about survival. The woman was not used to such warring and... ugliness.

The Ruler of Nothing, as the population of Crystalsong had once called her, had only had to sit on her throne and drink coffee. Her days had passed peacefully, her slaves had done all of the little ruling of Arx Mortis by themselves.

And even though she had had a terrible childhood, she was not familiar with the drama of factions rising and falling. Or maybe she wasn't used to the responsibility?

What do others seen in the warring galaxy? she thought. All the time she had only focused on herself. But other people's thoughts, ideas, problems mattered too.

Sorry, couldn't think of a way to make a faction/open thread because of the state Maria is in right now.

Lira stood in the small alcove of the Ossus Jedi Temple. She was dressed in her usual blue and white robes, stripes of green running through the sleeves and collar. They were not ornate, the kind of robes any Jedi would wear, they simply had a bit more color to them, something that Lira had done herself. She couldn't stand the drab brown and beige that most Jedi wore, and at least this way she stood out a little bit.

Though Hal had pointed out to her that standing out was not always a good thing, in fact it was likely very bad.

She frowned slightly as she thought about that point, her lips turning down until she realized that he had been right, especially with her new position within the Shadows. Letting out a sigh Lira looked down at her robes, realizing that she would have to change them to something a little bit more standard.

With a roll of bright emerald eyes Lira stormed off from the alcove, heading back towards her rooms.

Maria's eyes started acting consciously again. The thinking was over. Now there was a need for action. It was Maria's typical way of thinking. First, she felt shame about the state of the galaxy, then thought of what she has done to make it better, and finally get a burst of inspiration to do something about the matter. This time, it was exactly like that.

She put the glass with the translucent green liquid on the bench and rose to her feet. Faster than she could have ever imagined, her feet already moved to somewhere in the building. Her feet seemed to have a brain of their own as they seemingly worked against the woman's own brain. Though that was not the matter. In fact, she didn't even know where to head, so she just kept walking on to reach some destination.

On her way, she met a few acquaintances who all wanted to talk or at least know how she's been doing, but she just ignored all of them. Her head was getting dizzy of all that running around, so she lost her mind for a moment, losing any focus on the outside world, running against a female Jedi in the halls. Maria didn't know who she was, so she only muttered,

"Sorry."

Lira bumped into the other woman with quite a bit of force, she herself being wrapped up in her own head about what robes she would be wearing in the future.

White wouldn't work anymore, brown was too drab, and beige was...well beige was utterly hideous. So when the woman walked into her, Lira was just as startled as her. She looked bewildered for a few moments, eyes glancing at the womans robes to inspect them for some sign of identification. She caught black with slashes of maroon and her eyes widened slightly.

That would look nice.

Could she pull that off? Probably not, white hair made it rather difficult to pick clothes. Perhaps she would just go with regular clothing instead of robes, robes inhibited her anyway and it would be nice to get a bodysuit or even some armor. Some of the ancient Jedi had worn armor along with a cloak and they had gotten the job done.

Suddenly Lira nodded to herself, armor, thats what she would get.

“Oh thats alright.” She answered the woman as she apologized looking at the woman up and down. “Can I help you with something?”

She didn't look like a Jedi, better to ask if she needed help.

Maria nearly fell to the ground, but managed to push herself up only a moment before it would have happened. She was lucky this time, because the floor of the building didn't look like it would be a comfortable fall. Her leg was once injured so bad that its effects still made her feel extreme pain if she ever fell down or anything. The woman then turned her head towards the person she had crashed into.

A... strange robe was all she could notice. Even her own maroon one wasn't as unique as this one's was. It seemed to be mainly blue and white, later when her eyes could focus better, she noticed green in her clothing, too. That was interesting.

"Ugh," Maria sighed. "No, thank you, I'm OK." She caught herself staring into the woman's eyes which seemed to be a lot brighter than her own were. But of course she couldn't tell the exact difference as she couldn't see her own eyes. "At least I think I am."

The person seemed to be thoughtful, just like she herself was. But maybe it was only the first impression which made her think that way.

"What could I do to make up for my horrible clumsiness?"

Lira looked at the girl strangely for a moment.

Make up?

What was there to make up for? The girl had bumped into her slightly, she hadn't punched her in the face or broken her bones of anything. The Echani shook her head slightly, frowning. It wasn't like it was entirely the other womans fault either, she had had her head in the clouds thinking about some sort of neat new suit of armor.

That thought made her brain go haywire for a second as she once again thought about the armor. She wanted it to be silver, but with unique accents that made it stand out while remaining a hint of subtlety. Something that was ornate, but had the capability of remaining stealthed if needed.

She mused for a second more, then shook her head.

“No need. It's not like I’m entirely innocent am I?” She said it with a smile, bright green eyes shifting slightly as she looked over the womans clothes again. “Neat robes.”

Maria felt really worried and she probably looked that way, too. Even though the other woman said she didn't need anything, the former Sith felt like to be a true Jedi, she'd have to do something about it. At least a little nice deed, if possible.

"I guess so..." she whispered, barely moving her lips or letting any voice out of her mouth. "Thank you! I must say your robe is rather unique, too. In a good way, of course!" She may have seemed to try being polite too much. Indeed, she was raised that way and she had manners, but what she did now could have seemed unnatural.

She had to stop it.

"I've never seen anything like that, I think. How did you get such a different coloured robe?"

“Well...I bought it.” That was the simple answer. It wasn't exactly like the Jedi forbade different color robes. Marcello wore odd ones and Avalore didn't even wear robes. She frowned slightly, thinking about all the other strange clothing that padawans, Knights, and even Masters wore.

Ryan didn't wear robes either.

Did anyone wear robes?

She wasn't entirely sure. She wouldn't be wearing robes for long, too clunky, too bulky and far too drab. Maybe she would be better off with a nice pair of pants and maybe a leather jacket. Nodding to herself she decided that would probably be better off.

It helped that she wouldn't be at the temple for long.

Her mind oddly began to wander.

Maria nodded. Well, yes, buying a robe which was not considered a typical Jedi cloth seemed like the most logical way to get it. She would have wanted to laugh at her own stupidness, but maybe it would make her look even dumber than she had already showed herself to be. No, that's not what she wanted. Not what she wanted at all.

For some time, the two were silent, none of them even making any noise, it seemed. Maria felt too awkward to say anything, and she didn't know about the other woman.

What was her name, after all?

"Huh... I forgot. I'm Maria. Or Knight Natalja, whatever you prefer. And it's nice to meet you."
