THE STRATEGIC INTELLIGENCE AGENCY
The SIA is the military intelligence agency of the Galactic Alliance that operates under the Ministry of Intelligence to collect, analyze, and report on threats to the Alliance's national security and, when necessary, conduct operations to resolve them. While structurally, the SIA operates as part of the Galactic Alliance Defense Force, functionally they are operating as an independent entity.
The SIA holds a special role in the Galactic Alliance, acting as its shield against invisible threats from various hostile actors and fighting asymmetric wars against nefarious hostile actors and their vile tactics. The SIA often operates in a gray area; sometimes to uphold the Alliance’s venerable values, you have to fight those seeking to undo the progress the Alliance has made, on their terms.
After the Invasion of Coruscant, the SIA was reorganized into a leaner, more agile agency with an emphasis on the revitalization of SIA’s ability to deal with the galaxy’s ever-evolving threats, supported by a special focus on three divisions, and a move towards a matrix organization with utilizations of various Task-Forces.
DIVISIONS
COUNTER-INTELLIGENCE DIVISION
The Counter-Intelligence Division (CInt) is the most secretive division in The Strategic Intelligence Agency. The information of CInt agents, missions, and programs are only known to the Minister of Intelligence, Director and Deputy Director of the SIA. CInt agents are stationed throughout the Galactic Alliance’s sphere of influence; from key State and non-State organizations within the Alliance, Alliance members’ regional government, to various neighboring independent states and hostile entities. CInt agents are expected to infiltrate those spaces, build a reliable and dependable network within, root out hostile operatives and agents, feed the Headquarter with information, and help coordinate any clandestine actions taken in or towards their assigned space.
DIPLOMATIC SERVICES DIVISION
The Diplomatic Services Division (DipServ) is a broad Division that is responsible for a wide array of tasks. Most notably, DipServ agents are tasked with strategically coordinating and covertly overseeing trade, diplomatic and political missions to best ensure the safety of those involved. Additionally, agents of DipServ are responsible to maintain SIA’s influence over The Senate, GADF, and NJO, and to coordinate with various entities to achieve diplomatic objectives; such as lobbying stakeholders of independent entities to side with the Galactic Alliance, establishing, arming or funding rebel cells who promote agreeable ideologies, or providing aid to movements that aim to destabilize organizations or individuals deemed to be undesirable or dangerous to the Galactic Alliance.
SPECIAL OPERATIONS DIVISION
The Special Operations Division (SpecDiv) is responsible for the Agency’s only official dedicated combat units. SpecDiv is an extremely closed-door Division within the Agency, with some details of their operations only known by the Minister of Intelligence, Director and Deputy Director of the SIA. SpecDiv units are dispatched for high priority offensive operations, such as tactical infiltrations, resource and personnel extraction, and occasionally target extermination.
OTHER DIVISIONS
Other SIA divisions; Internal Security Bureau (IntSec), Counter-Espionage Division (EsCon), Communication & Traffic Division (Comm-Traf), Audit Division (A-Div), and Surveillance Division (Veil) still exist and continue to operate. However, structurally, they retain the traditional hierarchy of being lead by a Division Chief instead of a Deputy Director, and functionally they are relegated to support CInt, DipServ, and SpecDiv.
TASK-FORCES
TASK-FORCES OF PROJECT VALKYRIE
Project Valkyrie is an initiative between SIA and the New Jedi Order to share resource pools on missions related to dealing with Dark Siders, Rogue Force-users, and other Force-related occurrences. Such missions will be handled by Task-Forces, consisting of SIA Agents and NJO Jedi, which will be formed for each specific mission. Members of these Task-Forces are expected to be able to hold their own against proficient Force-users.
TASK-FORCE YGGDRASIL
Task-Force Yggdrasil is a classified elite unit that answers directly to the Director of SIA. The Task-Force official function is to handle highly confidential missions that the Director deems too risky to share even to the Deputy Directors and the Minister. This small Task-Force is filled with distinguished operators who excel in one-on-one combat, small-squad operations, and deep infiltration.
OTHER TASK-FORCES
The SIA also utilizes other Task-Forces to tackle complex missions that need cross-functional cooperation, either internally within divisions or externally with other organizations such as the Army, Navy, and NJO. The longevity of each Task-Force varies, ranging from lasting only for one mission to semi-permanent units.
