Strengths & Weaknesses:
We are the Hunters: The Strix excel in precision strikes (some might call it terrorism) big game hunting and other high risk, low unit count operations. They are all exceptionally well armed, fully trained Mandalorian Warriors. They hit hard and can take a beating.
Silent as Owls: Equipped with Stealth Field Generators and trained in the art of stealth, the Strix are difficult to see coming for a ground of heavily armed Mandalorians, they specialise in covert operations, but not in full infiltration operations. They are not however equipped with cloaking devices and are still, for all their training, wearing beskar'gam and carrying heavy weapons.
Mounted Warriors: For those operations that require them, the unit has access to Bes’uliik war droids.
Only Human: For all their technological excellence and training, under the armour and behind the guns are non-force sensitive, unenhanced humans.
Low Numbers: As befits unit made up of the top warriors of Clan Kryze, this unit rarely has more than two dozen members at any given time.
Low Endurance: The Strix equipment is heavy on energy cells and on ammo, while they can fight a prolonged engagement, the need to conserve both radically reduces their effectiveness. They are ambush predators. They are also poor in prolonged siege situations without effective resupply (such as defending a surrounded point).
Description:
But where the Nite Owls were Mandalorian Warriors forced to become terrorists and eventual saviours, the Strix were selected from the beginning to operate as the sharp end of Kryze’s beskad. Mandalorians do not excel in massed battle - their armour and equipment is simply too expensive to mass produce, and so Shia envisaged a group that could support her and the Clan in the small-scale, high risk operations they would likely take part in.
While Clan Kryze may be somewhat frugal, Shia lacks a sense of proportion when it comes to armaments - which comes from being gifted very ‘old school’ Jedi killing weapons - and the Strix are equipped along a more modern (and less tough) but similar line, with high firepower, flexible weaponry. No more than one Strix in three is a support, and a similar number bear sniper weaponry.
The group operates in various functions - they are not purely a military unit, hiring themselves out as bodyguards, close protection experts, big game hunters and any of the other innumerable jobs available to Mandalorians. But on the field of battle, they operate in a forward deployment special-forces role, often coming in deep behind enemy lines via bes’uliik drop or more silently by themselves to identify and eliminate high value targets.
