Guide to Sorcerer Ranks, Specializations, Sub-Classes, Occupations and more
RANKS
POTENTIAL

The path of a young Sorcerer starts as a Sorcerer Potential. The difficult training takes focus and clear mind and thus, Potentials' only duty is to train under their sole trainer, which means, that they should not specialize on a path nor take up an occupation. Padawans learn the basics of the Force and the abilities their Master wants them to learn. As soon as their basic training ends, the Master shall set up a meeting with the Council. During the meeting, the young pupil must perform three trials: Trial of Politics, Trial of Ancients, and Trial of Courage.
The Trial of Politics focuses on the Potential's knowledge of political relations in the galaxy. For instance, they must name all most powerful major powers, their relations, Council of Sorcery's relations and many more. This is the theoretical part of the trials.
The Trial of Ancients focuses on the spells. One must perform a set of spells which have been announced to the Master of the Potential five days before the meeting. A Potential doesn't have to perform the set flawlessly, but must be able to utilize them in real battles. This is the practical part of the trials.
The Trial of Courage focuses on the courage of the Potential. Potential is put into a random scene made by illusions and must be able to survive the scene. Typically, they aren't very difficult, but need logical thinking. This is a combination of practical and theoretical skills.
When a Potential performs the Trials and the Council decides they are ready to be a Mage, a ceremony is held to give Potential the Pendant of Magi, which shows the Sorcerer's rank in the faction.

MAGE

Sorcerer Mage is the second rank on the path of Sorcery. A Mage can now specialize on one of the three main fields and become one of the following: Sorcerer Warrior, Sorcerer Witch or Sorcerer Spy. Because of the lack of knowledge, a Mage is still not able to have a sub-class.
A Mage's job is to take on new Potentials and train them. A Mage, not experienced enough, must take classes from the Council in order to become a great trainer. A Mage can not assign trials for a Potential and in general, they have less power than Spellmasters.
A Mage can become a Spellmaster when the Council decides so.
Becoming a Spellmaster means additional responsibilities, but can become a member of the Council. A new Spellmaster recieves the Spellbook of Ancients, which holds knowledge of Sorcery and also some random little gifts like pendants, sometimes even magic staves or something similar.

SPELLMASTER

A Spellmaster, a servant of the one and only Archmage of the Order of Sorcery, is the highest ranking member of the Council of Sorcery when excluding the Sorcerer Archmage.
Spellmaster can take a sub-class depending on the field they specialized as a Mage. Each main field has three sub-classes of which a Spellmaster must choose one.
Spellmasters are the highest ranking members and thus, hold the most responsibility. They don't have to take classes from the Council, but because of that, are fully responsible for their actions.
Spellmasters can have a pupil too. They can teach them in the way they want, but must still follow the overall standards. They don't need to report their actions or their Potentials' actions to the Council and can assign meetings with the Council. They are also expected to take their Potentials to missions, especially to the most difficult ones.
Other than Spellmaster, there are no higher ranks a typical Sorcerer can have, but their training is not complete yet. They can still advance themselves in many different fields and show their knowledge in other fields and occupations.

SPECIALIZATION FIELDS
When a Sorcerer reaches the level of Mage, they can choose a field in which they can specialize. Similar to other great factions, they have three fields, but unlike in other factions, they are not determined by the usage of lightsabers, the Force, or everything. Instead, they have sets of skills which a field values.
FIELD OF BRUTAL SKILLS

Sorcerer Warriors are the war-oriented Sorcerers. They typically use the most brutal ways of Sorcery in battle. For example, one may use spells used by Nightsisters, powerful spells, and difficult 'magical' lightsaber movements.
FIELD OF ANCIENTS

Sorcerer Witches are the spell-oriented Sorcerers. They use powerful spells, meditation, auras and many other things which have long-time effects. They make new spells by themselves and use their free time to study or meditate.
FIELD OF SHADOWS

Sorcerer Spies are the secret-oriented Sorcerers. They tend to favour illusions and other 'silent' spells which have, similarly to Witches, long-time effects. They are known for their endless ways of sabotage, assassination, spying and other silent actions. They are the agents of the Council.
