- Durasteel Hilt: The hilt is far from immune to damage. Just made out of plain durasteel, the hilt can be blasted by blasters, sliced by other lightsabers, broken against strong enough materials with brutal enough force, so on and so forth.
- Personal Connection: Gwyn's connection to the Survivor only goes as far as the crystal. If the crystal is removed, Gwyn no longer has an extended sensitivity towards the husk lightsaber hilt.
Once upon a time, a Sith Acolyte found a kyber crystal, bled it, and made it his own. This Sith Acolyte carried the lightsaber into battle, the bled crystal screaming in agony, as he cut down his foes. Yet, as this Sith Acolyte chased a young girl through the underbelly of a shipyard, he was blinded by rage and stupid with pride. The Sith Acolyte fell, he fell to the civilian he was chasing. Then, the lightsaber was picked up... by the girl.
This girl herself was Force Sensitive, and she could feel a connection with the crystal within, begging for mercy. Eventually, she found a Jedi who could purify the crystal, though he stole the lightsaber from her. Betrayed by a symbol of survival being robbed from her, by this oh so grand Jedi, she took the lightsaber crystal and took off. She did construct a lightsaber, but it was insufficient as the symbol it should have been. At least, she had her crystal.
When that lightsaber was broken in battle, she went back to the drawing board and constructed this one, the Survivor, as an improvement upon the first basic lightsaber. This lightsaber is a symbol of survival, both for the user and the crystal, for all they have been through. Gwyneira Krayt has learned that even if the husk was torn from her, the heart remained. The crystal and her are still alive. They are survivors.
