STRENGTHS
  • ”The Synthphony”: The device possesses the ability to play nigh every musical instrument conceived by the residents of the known galaxy far far away, and multiple musical instruments by the choice of the user in a single session, providing the user of the device the ability to compose complex musical symphonies via elaborate and elegant movement and gestures of the hands and fingers while using the device, that would otherwise necessitate a band or an orchestra; hence the nickname given to the device by its creator, derived from its ability to play multiple instruments at the same time, ”The Synthphony.”
  • High Sound Quality: Thanks to its high quality audio speakers, the musical instruments “The Synthphony” would synthesize are -at a negligible level- just short of sounding exactly like the actual instrument(s) “The Synthphony” is synthesizing, creating a very enjoyable experience to listen to.
  • Light and Ergonomic: The frame of the device, as well as the casing, has been designed with the exertion behind each and every movement and gesture of the hands and fingers in mind while playing the musical instrument. To that end it has been made light, and tailored with ergonomics in mind.
  • Simple User Interface: Synthphony possesses a very user friendly interface the user can interact with; downloading and viewing notations of music, audio recording of each session, keeping track of one’s progress and offering improvement methods in areas where the user could seek improvement of skill are but a few of its features, aside from basic functions.
  • Onboard Data Storage Unit: Possessing audio recording abilities, downloading written notations for musical composition and the likes, just to name a few of the features of the device, an onboard data storage unit in the form of a holo-drive has been deemed necessary to integrate into Synthphony in order to enable effective use of such features.
  • Sturdy Casing: The Synthphony possesses a rather strong exterior thanks to its casing made out of durasteel. Although it can withstand blows up to a certain threshold, it is still not advised to put the device in harm's way, or use the device as a blunt weapon in order to avoid damaging its screen and/or internal components.
WEAKNESSES
  • Stamina: Although the level of exhaustion experienced from the level of exertion necessary to play the instrument would depend on the person’s inherent stamina, as a lot of bodily movement and hand gestures are required to play the instrument, it can be rather tiresome to play the instrument for extended periods of time. Taking a break every now and then to rejuvenate some stamina is advised.
  • Unfamiliarity: Those who are not well versed in the art of music can find this device to be very difficult to play; although presumably short lived and squared away by frequent practice, even those that are well versed in the art of music could find some difficulty while adapting to the feel of the instrument.
  • Fragile Screen: Although it can withstand several simple drops from at a height of five feet, the repeat of such instances will not only crack -or worse, break- the screen, it can also damage the touch-sensitive display and display connectors, necessitating the aforementioned parts to be repaired before further use.
  • Very Difficult to Repair: Due to its one-of-a-kind, generally non-standardized parts and extremely custom nature, repairs can be rather lengthy. Finding spare parts and tuning them up appropriately to fit into the inner workings of the device can also take time. One that lacks the knowledge and technical skills for electronic repairs will find it almost impossible to repair “The Synthphony” without help from someone that is well versed in electronic repairs.
  • Limited Storage Space: Although possessing a rather generous space for data storage, it’s not at all unlimited. Aside from outright deleting files and data, once the onboard holo-drive reaches its storage capacity, it is advised to move data that the user sees as unnecessary to another data storage unit before further use.
DESCRIPTION

Conscious of his beloved’s love and interest in the art of music, Kayl Krayt Kayl Krayt took it upon himself to fashion Ara Sheridan Ara Sheridan a special gift in the form of a one-of-a-kind musical instrument he nicknamed “The Synthphony,” capable of playing complex compositions of music with but a single musical instrument -that would otherwise necessitate a full on symphony orchestra or a band- synthesizing melodies and notes of a wide range and variety of musical instruments, with the elegant and elaborate motions of the hand and fingers utilizing the device’s movement sensors, turning specific motions into notes and symphonies, creating a musical experience pleasant to the ear.
