She'd met him in a bar on Nar Shaadda. After a few drinks they'd gotten to talking about guns, and now, they were running 'em. It was a typical day aboard the refitted YT-1300 The Drifter Queen. The last stop she'd had to pay a hefty debt to Gala the Hutt and thus was almost fresh out creds.

Low shares meant the crew had mostly deserted, but Candez had signed on. And she dubbed him second mate.

She still didn't know too much about him, cept that he was a smuggler, and a Gun runner. That made her mind much more at ease.

From the pilots chair she leaned back, kicking her steel boots up on the dash and watching space rip by. In her hands a cup of caf, in her mouth a cigar. A disgusting habit she'd picked up from an ex lover. But Endor leaf was real good.

Especially with a little spice mixed in.

"Well Candez, since we're stuck on this boat a while later, what's your story?" She asked, turning her head to lock eyes with the green man.

"Where do ya come from and where are ya goin'?"

Her accent was thick drawl. A backwater farmers dialect from Exocron.

Candez had been on Nar Shaadda after a good job had gone bad. Started off as a simple job, dropping off some rifles designed by Candez himself. Instead, he only managed to give a quarter, losing another quarter of the products and the rest remained on his damaged ship. He had pirates to blame for all that. And with the ship damaged he had no way to transport the rest of the weapons. That was until he met Catherine, she helped him. He got the rest of his cargo onboard, and they agreed to share the reward.

The Duros had been spinning in his chair, back and forth when a question came his way. He stopped, facing Catherine and drawing his gaze up to her. "Well...I make guns...that's my whole story. Just make guns. Some of which have...explosive tendencies" he added, lifting a bandaged hand. That had been filled with shrapnel a couple days ago after testing a new type of rifle he was designing. The walls near his workbench on the Salty Mynok still had some shrapnel buried into it. "As for where I'm headed, Tatooine for the job I mentioned at the bar. Then, somewhere. For where I came from, Meran Mechanics." he leaned forward to rest his hands on his knees. "What about you?"

She took a sip of her caf and let the cool breeze of the refreshers blow her curly locks around. Then let out a huge hit of spice and tobacco and coughed.

"Well Exocron, born and raised. Farm girl, till my Daddy got in some trouble with them Hutts. Well let's just say you make the guns, I move 'em and sell em. Had a fair share of run ins with Pirates in this sector though."

She passed the Cigar off to him, motioning to see if he wanted any.

"Y'know, I know a few decent mechanics. I could hit up one of my girls Veera. I think she might be local, but not sure. Can never tell with that child. Evil little spawn she is. Met her as a stowaway on one of my voyages."

Candez lowered his bandaged hand as she began speaking about her history. "A farm girl, eh? Must have been quite the turn around." [member="Catherine Jones"] offered the cigar, which he kindly declined. "Don't smoke." Yam Yaw, however, one of his crew that he had brought aboard Catherine's ship with the rest of his small crew, Candez wondered if he would. If he could.

Speaking of...Before Candez could answer, he heard a metallic smash. "I told him to be careful" he muttered to himself. "Excuse me" he said, standing up. But before leaving, he quickly gave his answer. "Though, yes I would if you could give them a call. Just until we get back." Candez retreated into the cargo hold to find Yam picking up a crate off the ground. "Be careful with that! It's fragile!...And explosive, but mostly fragile!" It shouldn't explode from being tossed around, at least that's what he had theorized. He soon returned to sit down in the cockpit with Catherine, sitting down like nothing happened.

"Sounds real dangerous back there!" She joked.

"Yeah it was quite a turn around. Been flyin' for a decade now that daddy's gone. Most of the time it gets real lonely. poodoo I ain't had a good shootout in a while, but that's the price of being good at your job."

She kept a wary eye on the dash.

"What hopes and dreams you got Candez? Folks like us always got an end in mind."

She took another sip of her caf.

Candez could agree to that. Being good at the job of gunrunning meant avoiding as much attention as possible. He liked adventure, but not too much action. Despite the fact that he makes weapons, the only ones he has really been good with was pistols. And pistols don't do much against fighters and tanks.

"Adventure. Blasting things, work and use my guns, show them off to everyone." Really, he did not have his hopes and dreams that narrowed down. "So....how much do we have till we arrive?"

"Several days dude. This is the best part don't ya think? Well at any rate I love this part. Drinking, drifting, and generally just coolin' it before the action starts. Always had a love for the wide open spaces. That's where we folks can truly be free. No governments, no nothin', just a man nad his wits."

She took another drag, getting a super rush.

"So you like guns eh? Ever thought about going into business with the cartel or somethin' like that. Come to think of it. How did you get into this life?"

"Well, I myself like the adventure, the thrill...as long as I'm not getting shot at. I remember this one time, I got a whole gang on me. Then I ran into this Trandoshan, and it all went downhill from there. I managed to stowaway on a ship." He'd forgotten that Trandoshan's name, but not the offer to work for them.

Candez's voice fell before he could answer the question about guns. He never really thought back to it. He had a great family once, and sometimes he wished he got back into contact with them. But he was afraid to do that. His mind re-corrected itself to get him to answer, and his suddenly sad expression, one he did not realize he had, was gone. "Gangs. Hung out with some, and went off from there." He pulled his red-lens goggles over his eyes, hiding them. He had never told anyone his past. Not even his employer or his crew.

"Sounds like a legit youth then? Anythin' else you wanna know about me?"

Trust was paramount to forging a great relationship between Captains. And trust was what she operated on.

"I got a lot of stories. If you wanna hear 'em I'll tell ya some to pass the time. Otherwise I'm gonna go get some gym time in the Crago Bay and let ya have the Drifter Queen for a bit."

"Well...nothing that comes to mind, so I guess that would be a no. You get going, don't you worry. The ship's in good hands!" He looked over the dash of the cockpit from his seat. Then something came to mind. He had no idea how to fly. He would need help. "Uh...do you mind if I get one of my crew up here, to assist?" He bet Bobees would have somewhat of an idea on how to fly. He could trust him...well, he trusted the Togruta enough. He didn't seem like the reckless type, unlike Candez himself at time.
