- Name: Great Frost Spiders
- Designation: Semi-Sentient
- Origins: Techno Magorum Tribe
- Average Lifespan: 100 Standard Years
- Estimated Population: Planetary
- Description:
- The Great Frost Spiders are large and ice covered spiders that inhabit the underground tunnels beneath the Tower of Sorcery. This ice provides them with some considerable armor from energy weaponry and projectile weaponry with a cool enough surface to protect it from fire, although they can still be burned to death like any other creature. Each of them are particularly the same with eight legs dipped with sharp almost blade like spikes. They have eight eyes and large fangs with a large abdomen but the queen variant have significantly larger legs and body mass when compared to the traditional ones. Upon this abdomen newborn frost spiders are seen crawling around on the icy surface, as they need their mother to protect them from dangers that lurk within the underground tunnels, although once normal spiders within the depths and caverns beneath the tower of sorcery, the spawning pits have leaked into them being infused with the might of the great vortex of the force and have made them far more powerful. They are now used as a form of mount for the Elite of the Awakened Warhost and arimurkhan himself has taken a queen among queens as his mount of choice on the battlefield. Although he is careful not to send her into battle because of the chance of death.
- Breathes: Type I Atmosphere
- Average Height of Adults: 7 feet (2.134 meters)
- Average Length of Adults: N/A
- Skin color: Black with Ice Coloration
- Hair color: N/A
- Distinctions: Much like the other creations of Arimurkhan, the Great Frost Spiders appear exactly alike with the same structure between both male and female. The females of the frost spiders species will be considerably larger than the males due to them being venerated by their offspring with the males only purpose is to act as drones for the females in defending their underground tunnels and nests that stretch for considerable miles below the Tower of Sorcery. Born from eggs from the females with the largest spiders being seen as the queens who produce hundreds of offspring each day to supply the nest with more drones and females to reproduce for her small collective. They are equipped with six powerful legs that are ended in pointy and sharp frost bitten tips that allow them to stab at an enemy and freeze thing solid if given enough time. Six eyes adorn their face ended with a powerful fang that can paralyze people given enough time for their venom to be injected into their prey's bloodstream. Although this venom can be healed using force heal or other medicine as the venom takes considerable time to actually begin to affect an individual. An older adult will be covered in frost, forming an outer armored shell over their vulnerable bodies that protect them from harm. And it generates a frosty aura that can deal with flames for a short amount of time before being overwhelmed and burned to death by an opponent. A younger spider will lack this thick frost upon their bodies, so they tend to ride upon their mothers to protect them from any danger within the various underground tunnels. Those that reach the maximum age of 100 are considered to be queen spiders, growing larger and more powerful as they devour even their own children to feed their taste of food, their frost covered form is the most protective and it allows them to stand up to considerable damage without cracking.
- Races: N/A
- Force Sensitivity: Non-Sensitive
- Frost Armor - The Great Frost Spiders are covered with a thick and dense form of ice armor that allows them to survive from blows that would kill a normal spider. Able to stand up to energy weaponry and projectile weapons on the battlefield when used by the Techno Magorum Tribe. Although the armor can still be cracked and blasted into smithereens by extremely powerful forms of heat such as a master force user's pyrokinesis or being thrown into a star. To make up for this weakness the frost spiders have developed a sort of frost aura as well as frost armor, protecting them from heat based attacks for a short period of time, more than enough to slice and dice into an enemy formation.
- Paralyzing Bite - The Great Frost Spiders have a powerful venom gland within their jaw that can inject a form of paralysis into their victims. Allowing them to capture prey through ambushes and trapping their food into the web covered walls of their underground fortress nests. The venom will travel through the bloodstream, relaxing the muscles within the body until they virtually can't move. [Side Note: Only PC's can determine if they are affected by it along with their NPC's]
- Frost Breath - The Great Frost Spiders have a powerful frost gland within their upper jaw that allows them to breath frost against their foes on the battlefield. This makes them useful for freezing waterways to allow the Techno Magorum access to areas that they otherwise might not have access to, making them perfect for scouting missions or to be cavalry if the need arises. If given enough time this frost breath can freeze a person solid in a matter of minutes. [Side Note: Only PC's can determine if they are affected by this along with their NPC's]
- Reproduction Maximum: The Great Frost Spiders have a impressive reproduction rate that allows them to spawn more of them within a considerably short period of time. Which allows the Techno Magorum Tribe to harness a considerable number of them to use as a harassment force on the battlefield or to slow down an enemy through ambush tactics. The queens of the frost spiders will lay typically a hundred eggs every week depending on how well she is fed, because of her immense size it is often difficult for her to leave the lair abode to search for food.
- Light - While the Great Frost Spiders can handle typical levels of light when they are hunting within the underground tunnels and the surface. They normally can't handle an intense amount of light being directed upon them and will be blinded by light being shined into their many eyes and will flee from the light source as fast as possible. Even the lights of the battlefield will cause them to turn around and flee, unless they are driven into the Fray by the Awakened Handlers. Although they can stand up to the light of a lightsaber due to it being dim enough for them to see and attack an opponent.
- Vulnerable Eyes - The Great Frost Spiders have armored ice all over them save for their six eyes that allow them to see, a direct blow to them or even a blaster wound will blind them and make them unable to fight back, although they will try attacking in all directions with their legs to protect themselves. But otherwise they lost a vital part of their senses and will be more easily dispatched on the battlefield.
- Flames and Heat - While they are covered in a form of frost armor on the battlefield, they still suffer from powerful blasts of heat and flames from either a force user's pyrokinesis. Although they have developed a sort of frost aura around themselves that allow them to stand up to small amounts of it, they will ultimately burn to death as their frost armor cracks and they lose vital protection to their forms.
- One at a time - While they do have powerful glands within their mouths that allow them to paralyze their victims and breath frost at an opponent. They can only use it one at a time and they require a short amount of time to be filled back up again. Meaning someone would have the opportunity to dodge their initial blast or bite and promptly kill them before they can ready themselves for another blast.
- Diet: Carnivore | The Great Frost Spiders are classified as carnivores that entrap their prey and small animals within webs that sprinkle with frost. As they are primarily a meat eater, they can't ingest anything regarding plants which means all plants are poisonous to them if consumed in large quantities. There is often reports of them eating their own offspring to feed themselves which mean that only the strongest of the offspring can survive because they cling to their mothers back. They will also drag down techno magorum tribesmen down into their lairs and devour them.
- Communication: They communicate using a bunch of low level hiss that seems to only be picked up by other members of their species. Although arimurkhan has trained himself to communicate with them through their unique bond.
- Technology level: They have no technology
- Religion/Beliefs: They have no prominent religion
- General behavior:
- The Great Frost Spiders are a sentient species with limited but active intelligence within them. They were regular spiders dwelling deep beneath the tower of sorcery within underground caverns and tunnels that stretched for miles down beneath the surface. A large population of these regular spiders would be directly beneath the spawning pits that generated a considerable amount of the species used by the techno magorum tribe, that liquid has leaked throughout the caverns and tunnels with the properties within quickly changing the large spider population that dwelled there. Giving them unique abilities that they can use on the battlefield and to protect their nests, although some of the spiders became queens by becoming addicted to the power of the spawning pits and would nibble upon the cracks above to reap the benefits. They would now evolve over the months into the great frost spiders, having been overcome with the power of the spawning pits of arimurkhan. Once they were discovered beneath the tower of sorcery, the techno magorum would begin to use them as a form of calvary to harass enemy units on the battlefield and ambush the enemy's most powerful force with their ice breath. Although they aren't normally strong when compared to others, their hard ice shell makes them durable enough to survive the battlefield and fight without a rider upon it. Larger variants of the spiders will be used as mounts by the Arcane Spellcasters of the Techno Magorum with Arimurkhan himself using a queen great frost spider as a personal mount in combat. The queens are truly monstrous on the battlefield and tower over most things due to their rapid mutations and the mysterious power of the spawning pits. Living to almost 100 standard years old to their natural lifespans being increased, although many of them do not live for long due to either being devoured by their kin or being killed on the battlefield. When not engage in combat they will be beneath the ground within lairs that are closely guarded by the males of the population as that is where the female will lay her eggs to spawn the next generation. The Techno Magorum often rouses them from their lairs with food, forming a somewhat friendly relationship with them but there is always the possibility of being eaten by them so such tasks are left up to the Beast handlers within the awakened warhost.
The Great Frost Spiders were born simply as normal spiders living beneath the catacombs of the Tower of Sorcery on Weik. The tower was established as the Techno Magorum then known as the Sorcerer's Host left the brotherhood of the maw to follow the aspects of its exalted prophet and the deity known simply as the Great Vortex of the Force. Landing on weik with his mawite warhost, they would engage in a dense battle with the natives which had increased their technology considerably with access to formidable defenses. Their settlements would quickly fall beneath the small but powerful warband underneath Arimurkhan's control and the construction of the Tower of Sorcery was accomplished within a short time frame. The spawning pits would be constructed over an area identified as barren and without resources, the liquid pools would allow the creation of many monstrous infantry units and various species that should help the Techno Magorum Mawite Tribe to accomplish victory against its foes on the battlefield. While arimurkhan worked above within the spawning pits, the sorcery liquid would leak deep beneath the superstructure on the planet flowing deeply into the caverns and underground tunnels. Without anyone being aware that a large population of spiders had taken up residence beneath the spawning pits, and the liquid would begin to corrupt them into something far more useful to the techno magorum tribe and far more powerful foe on the battlefield. The first great frost spiders would begin to emerge from the queens of the original spiders, forming their own nests within the underground tunnels away from the more traditional spiders. These frost spiders would begin to overtake the normal spiders within the underground cavern and some even became queens by feeding on the cracks and droplets that flowed from the spawning pits, becoming monstrous in time and towering over their offspring. Within them a great change would occur that would allow them to rapidly reproduce with hundreds of eggs being spawn from either cannibalisms or techno magorum members going missing while scouting underneath the tower to add more floors to the superstructure and to reinforce its weak pillar support system with permacrete. It was during this disappearance string that Arimurkhan himself went down into the underground caverns and discovered them, smashing through dozens of them with his long scepter staff and heavy power armor that allowed him to contend in a brute strength match with any foe. The Exalted Prophet would take great interest with them, discovering their abilities as he went through them to capture a queen specimen after seeing some of the male drones rush to protect a large passage directly away from the spawning pits. Discovering the queen specimen, he formed a powerful bond with it and allowed the spiders to carry on reproducing with each other to become mounts for the techno magorum tribe. As the years would quickly pass on weik, the spiders has transformed into a large enough population within the underground that the techno magorum would begin to harvest them for food to feed the other monstrous infantry that they had created and rallying them into spider riders using their awakened beast handlers. They are now ready to be unleashed with the rest of the techno magorum tribe and secure the vision of the exalted prophet of the great vortex.
