At Marcella Fiora's request, Moonveil's R&D Department began work on a specialized close-range weapon for her personal use - designed to compliment her skill in Gunplay, remain concealed upon her person at all times, and be quickly readied at a moment's notice. "The Thorn", as it became colloquially known, is a High-Class, custom slug-thrower built to protect against enemies at close range; including Lightsaber-wielding attackers, if the need arises.
Each cartridge carried is a small, custom-manufactured shell containing 35 Durasteel darts which are capable of fanning out in a spread. At point blank to close range, it is capable of delivering a shocking amount of carnage; at longer range, the spread may widen out enough to damage a wider area, but is unlikely to immediately incapacitate. The weapon may be reloaded after expending its compliment of shells, but doing so may not be done quickly. It is also exceedingly safe, relying on physical barriers between the firing mechanism & cartridges - should it be dropped, there is zero chance of a negligent discharge. In order to fire each cartridge, the hammer must be pulled back & the trigger pulled.
With fanciful old-world styling which would be at home in any setting from a Corporate Boardroom to a Back-alley Cantina, "The Thorn" is Marcella's constant companion. She often wears it strapped to her forearm, but it can be detached and carried in a pocket, attached to her thigh, or numerous other places a palm-sized hand cannon might fit.
