The Travel For Permafrost Crystals

[Oka Osaa]

Location: Hoth
Objective: Locate two permafrost crystals and make two light sabers concealing its use by other.

Oka flew in his FT-18 Pillar to the planet Hoth. The objective was simple and easy although he dreaded coming there. He entered the atmosphere with his droid, B7-Y2. It usually came along always with him in his ship in case quick escapes were needed. But he doubted quick escapes were necessary for this. He often forgot who the planet was under rule by. Either way, may the force be with him.

As Oka came into the atmosphere, he felt the draft and saw the snow covering the window. Heavy snow. Lucky for him, telekinesis was something he learned. Oka used the force to dissipate the snow so he could see again. But it seemed to just fill back up on the window. He soon forgot bout it and landed in a hangar shortly after a few seconds. He jumped out to be confronted by a guard in heavy clothing with a blaster.

"Identify yourself sir."

Oka was confused but he did anyways. "Oka Osaa. I'm here to craft light sabers."

"Oka Osaa, to craft a light saber, you need components." he reached into his large jacket. "I suppose you need enough for two so here is enough for two light sabers by looking at your current ones. You can take a tauntaun if you would like. The best way to get a permafrost crystal is trusting in the force but they are located in that cave over there. About 7 miles away."

"Wow, thanks. I guess I'll be on my way then." Oka said jumping on a tauntaun.

Oka on the tauntaun ran out out of the hangar in the direction the guard said. The cave looked small, almost like its been vacant. It didn't matter though, he was only there to limit his saber use. Oka made it to the entrance of the cave but he saw the tauntaun was too tall to enter. He jumped off and tied it to a large ice sickle. "Stay safe bud. I'll be backsoon enough." he said entering the cave.

The cave was cold. Empty, and full of darkness. The darkness would end soon though. Oka ignited his sabers for light as he walked farther into the cave. He knew crystals were in there... but what else. He walked slowly making sure he focused the force. As he focused the force, he started to see a glimmer of light coming off an item. He came closer to it to see what exactly it was.

Oka kept seeing the glimmer get shinier the closer he got to it. He was getting closer and closer. Each step he took, his adrenaline got bigger and bigger. He finally came so close he could touch it. He withdrew a saber and reached his hand out to it as he felt the coldness of it travel from the crystal to him. The crystal already started bonding with him. Was this it? Could it be this easy? He didn't believe this. He kept moving in the cave after putting the crystal in a case he built especially for it.

After finding his first crystal, Oka had even more confidence in finding his second. He moved along as he came to a stop. There was no more of the cave. It was a dead end. This couldn't be it, no it couldn't, he thought. He put a hand against the ice and focused the force. After a second later, the ice cracked and blasted apart as cold air circled Oka. "Cold..." he mumbled stepping into the next part of the cave.

The next part of the cave was especially cold. It seemed the ice was a hold for cold air. He had to keep moving though. This wasn't supposed to be easy anyways. Getting your light saber crystal means you are worthy of being a Jedi. But to Oka, it meant evil was losing every time he took a step. He came to a large area, circular. When he came to the middle of the area, he was amazed by the sight. So many crystals. But which one? How would he tell? That's what the guard meant by trusting in the force. Oka withdrew his sabers and sat down. He held his hand up and focused the force. He felt a lot of crystals zoom past him and a lot that hit his hand but didn't land quite well in it.

Oka felt all kinds of crystals moving past him and sometimes hitting him. One particular crystal came from a high place and landed in his hand as his eyes started glowing. "You are the one... evil, together will destroy." he said putting it in the case as well as he stood up with the case in hand. He headed towards the way he came in but a wampa suddenly appeared and hit him hard. Luckily, its claws were dull and some were cut off. He stood up and ignited a saber as he ran towards it.

The wampa had bloody jaws and bloody feet. It held the head of the tauntaun Oka rode. "I was supposed to return that you know." he yelled as he jumped up and pushed the wampa back with the force. Oka came down at it as it stood back up and charged at him. He dodged the charge as he pulled it back with the force and impaled it with both sabers in the heart. He withdrew his sabers and force pulled his case to his hand as he attached his sabers to his belt. He headed out of the cave.

By the time Oka made his way out of the cave, it was mid day. He was satisfied but disappointed. The poor tauntaun was tied to the snow and couldn't escape. It was his fault but all he could do is pay the cost. He walked and walked to the hangar as he felt frostbite on his feet. "Uggh. Damn. Why!?" he yelled starting to fall. About a minute later, he got back up and started walking again towards the hangar. He made it to the hangar but was confronted again.

"Oka, good to see you're alive. Where's the tauntaun?" he asked.

Oka tossed several hundred credits at him as he said. "Dead. A wampa ate it... but now its dead."

The guard looked at Oka with a straight face. "Its okay. We get a bunch of them every month so one lost is another ten gained. You have that case, what's in it?"

Oka opened up the case as he sat against his starfighter. "Its the crystals. I need to craft my light sabers still though."

Oka needed to craft his sabers still although they could wait. The guard made an offer.

"Hey Oka, just go into my office and craft them. If you need different components, just take some off the shelf."

"Hmmm okay, thanks man." he said walking towards his office.

As he entered, he close the slide door so he could focus more. He saw components that had looks that defined Oka. He grabbed them and put the other components back. He liked other components as well so he grabbed another set of em. As he sat down in a soft chair with a low table, he thought of why this guy had all this. Its like a light saber crafting room, he thought.

Oka sat the case on the table and opened it up. He took out the first crystal and put the components down that he wanted for his primary saber. He relaxed and thought of the force. How the saber would look like and how it would be shaped. He focused the force and started picking up the components and the crystal. Some twisted on as some clicked on with the crystal lining up in the center. The hilt came on as the handle came on like he for saw it.

He felt the new saber activate the bond with the force. He could feel its only activation to Oka. It was time to double the bond. Oka took out the next crystal and set it on the table with the other components that would serve as a secondary light saber. He relaxed again and focused the force. Oka felt the components click and twist as the crystal became the heart of the light saber. The hilt came on next and the handle. The second light saber was complete and he could feel it.

Oka had his eyes closed while crafting his sabers. It helped focusing the force. He opened his eyes to see his sabers complete. Oka grabbed his sabers and walked out of the office towards the guard.

"Hey, you did it!"

Oka smiled and ignited the sabers. "Yea, they only work with me now. This will improve my training and help destroy the sith." he looked down at the sabers he previously owned. He knew what to do. "I got to go. Thanks for everything!" he said jumping in his starfighter as he took off and left the planet Hoth. He hoped he'd meet the guard again someday. But when he looked back, he was gone. Some mysteries are never solved and this would soon become one. He headed towards Mustafar.

Oka came into the Mustafar orbit. He felt the heat as he came into its atmosphere. "B7, activate the shields. Would want to get turned to goop would we?" he jokingly said. "Bloop bleeep." his droid replied. It said it would activate all possible shields. As he came closer to the ground, the heat rose in temperature. Shortly after activating the shields, he landed on an abandoned base. He got out of his ship and started walking towards the edge of the railing. "Well... to my friend and to my Sharlon people, these light sabers hold memories but are in dangerous hands more with me than with the lava. Good bye and let the force be your new guide." he said tossing his old light sabers into the lava.

Oka closed his eyes and then opened them a second later. The past of those sabers held memories and history, but the new sabers he has will make him stronger. He started walking back to his ship as he almost looked back. But he didn't. Oka made it to his ship and jumped in as the window closed. "This is a new beginning, my friend. Let us train and fight until peace is restored. May the force be with us all..." he said to his droid as the starfighter took off out of Mustafar.
