STRENGTHS
- Intense Firepower: The firepower martialled by the Tyranus-Class is far and above superior to most other Star Destroyers and as a result, is a dangerous predator.
- Excellent Defence: The defences of the Tyranus-Class are a daunting task for anyone to attempt to subvert.
- Low Point Defence Cannons: The point defence guns on the Tyranus-Class are lacking in regards to placement. They are of a limited number, given it is assumed the vessels large hangar compliment would deter such attacks.
- Explosive Kyber Batteries: The use of kyber crystals is a double edged sword, as it both provides a boon to the weapons system, and a damaging blast radius if destroyed.
- Low Maneuvering: Inline with what is by now standardised imperial doctrine, the maneuverability of the Tyranus-Class has been sacrificed for other faculties.
The Tyranus Class Star Destroyer is a product of a deal with the Devil between two of the New Imperial Order’s most influential representatives, Prince Lucien Dooku of Nirauan and Grand Admiral Carlyle Rausgeber of Prefsebelt IV. The Tyranus Class as a vessel is designed to be the flagship of a new and ambitious initiative helmed by the young Prince, a private army that could work independently of the New Imperials primary military forces. One loyal uniquely to his majesty and his agenda.
Having been given the designs to manufacture to Prefsbelt Command, the initial Nirauan designs were improved markedly by veteran shipwrights and naval personnel of the former First Order. Kyber crystals became a new addition to the vessel, along with purchased equipment from New Imperial stores. What resulted was a vessel capable of leading and engaging in planetary assaults and occupations, unsupported, while also being strong enough to engage and harass most other vessels its size and larger.
The design of Prefsbelt Command however had some limitations. Maneuvering was sacrificed for speed and armament. And of that armament, with a large concentration of the Tyranus’ weapons holding kyber crystals, make it veritably vulnerable should those weapons systems be destroyed. Point defence weaponry was also lapsed, with the doctrinal belief being that the fighters stored within would provide adequate defence. While the Tyranus Class still has such weapons, they are far less prominent than on other vessels.
