Description: The Vagrant's Pride is Ashin Varanin's personal starship since her retirement. It is an unobtrusive transport capable of getting into and out of just about anything thanks to a variety of smuggler-style countermeasures, if used properly. The Pride operates with a crew of one to three, and has the lift capacity of a light freighter. It has no passenger space unless someone wants to share a bunk or set up a cot in the cargo hold. Two lateral airlocks are found in the stern, and a main boarding ramp descends from the middle of the cargo hold. The vessel runs from a pair of low-capacity solar ionization reactors, and can draw emergency power from a solid fuel/ration converter.
As a last-ditch defense, the forward lounge contains -- in a hidden and nullification-resin-lined compartment -- an integrated Sith amulet in the form of a crown. The crown functions solely as a high-capacity Talisman of Concentration. It is directly attuned to Ashin, and specifically to her highly specialized skillset: Force protection and shielding. The crown allows her to expand her protective aegis to the hull of the Vagrant's Pride in a manner comparable to a Force shield, Force Weapon, etc., much as Adi Gallia was capable of doing for a personal ship. The following limitations apply:
- As with any Talisman of Concentration, the crown will cause immense weakness after its period of use, interfering with cognition and Force use.
- In a starship combat situation, Ashin's talisman-enhanced Force shielding is comparable in strength to a light corvette's redundant shielding; it does not confer invincibility. This represents its maximum strength against starship weapons, achievable with pain-free meditation and time to prepare. Limiting factors to Ashin's state of mind will also limit the crown's effectiveness.
- The use of the crown requires Ashin to physically be in the lounge, doing nothing else. She cannot use it when she flies the ship alone, and must trust the entirety of the ship's operation to someone else. The crown cannot be used or sensed while Ashin is not wearing it in that specific room.
- The crown cannot be used to boost Ashin's power for other purposes, like battle meditation, telepathy, massive telekinesis, or instinctive astrogation; nor can it be used by anyone but Ashin.
- The crown has been merged with its support structure via alchemical means and physically cannot be removed from the room; it is a component of the ship, nothing more, and cannot operate alone. (This merging confers no structural benefit to the ship.)
- Though there is room for some variable geometry, directional emphasis, etc., Ashin cannot use the crown to cast a Force shield over other ships as well. Reasonable exceptions could be made for, say, a starfighter flying very close to the Vagrant's Pride, within range of Ashin's defensive aegis.
