OUT OF CHARACTER INFORMATION
  • Intent: To create an ancient Force attuned relic of Zeffo origin. Rediscovered in the subterranean city of Alashan during the NIO Dominion of its hex after Knight Commander Rurik Fel Rurik Fel defeated the Sage of Alashan's ghost which possessed Rach'ta in the chamber of The Vane.

PRODUCTION INFORMATION

SPECIAL FEATURES
  • Force Visions
  • Rejuvenation
  • Meditative State Induction
STRENGTHS

  • Life Wind's Compass: The Vane offers the beholder the ability to soothe the chaos of their mind and shut out the distractions of the world so as to commune and be one in spirit with the Life Wind (the Force). This provides unfettered access to a more powerful connection with the Force, though at great cost, and such connection quickly subsides. Force Visions are common place and effortless. The exhausted Force Sensitive wholly rejuvenated (though not physically healed). The beholder must spend at least two minutes under the influence of The Vane to receive the benefit of rejuvenation.
WEAKNESSES

  • Introspection is personal: While the wielder of this relic may be able to enter a meditative state whenever and where ever they choose to do so, there is something to be said about "a time and place". Under the affects of The Vane the beholder is tranquil and inert within the physical realm. Defenseless and oblivious to all. Only intense physical pain can unintentionally pull the wielder out of the harmonious state of mind.
  • Knowledge is power, power is addicting: Nearly a law of all sentient life, power is addicting. "True Power" is a vague term that relies heavily on the principles of the postulate. Is it raw physical strength? Wealth? Intellect? Wisdom? At the root of this question is Knowledge. Without knowledge one would not know what to believe in as power. Knowledge is a catalyst as is this artifact. Within the infinite possibilities of the Force and one's self many who behold The Vane cannot escape the urge to return. Spending hour after hour seeing what is, had, and could be. Many have been cursed with the burden of not being able to leave well enough alone. Those who take on The Vane and spend too long under its influence will suffer this fate.
DESCRIPTION

The Vane is a relic of the ancient Zeffo civilization. A small, ever color shifting, Kyber Crystal with minuscule engraved gylphs of a long lost language. Imbued with the power of ancient sages, and set in a filigree cage of chromium. Created by unknown Zeffo Sages of the Life Wind (what we now call the Force) this artifact was never intended, nor is now, a weapon. The Vane is a tool imbued with the Force to grant the beholder extraordinary focus when communing with the Force. When in use the beholder is transported, mentally, to a plane reflective of their perceptions of the Force. For those who seek the Dark Side there will be themes of power, glory, and evolution. For those that are adherents to the Light Side there will be themes of harmony, beauty, and wisdom. To those few who could truly call themselves "neutral" within the Force, a shifting landscape.

These themes reveal the past, present, and future as a seamless vision within the Force. Difficult to control the novice may seek sweeping answers and in return be given shallow results. The battle weary guardian or conqueror will loose the chains that weigh them, feeling invigorated by the relic once they have used it. Returning to the fray with determination and stamina.

A warning, as with all things, there will always be a price to pay. Time is precious and the beholder trades time for knowledge. Utilizing this relic without proper mental preparation will eventually lead to addictive expressions of the wielder's mentality. A yearning to return under the influence of The Vane, forgoing all else to delve into the artifact's power. Even to the point of death. The Vane is willing to share its knowledge but only if the beholder is willing to share their time.
