Lord of Wolves
Out of Character Information
Historical Information:
The Violet Wolves were established in the midst of the Maw assault on Tython. Ronar, the founder and commander of the unit, was at the time a simple Mawite warrior who had joined the horde following the destruction of his own tribe in a bloody coup. Ronar, a skilled and powerful warrior, was committed to gaining power amongst the Mawites, and did so in brutal fashion, violently usurping the position of a Mawite captain and showing his prowess in the process. Combined with his victory in numerous underground dueling rings set up throughout the camps, Ronar quickly gained a following of Mawites who committed to serving under him in the coming battle. Ronar took these men as the base for his eventual rise, calling them his "wolves" and giving them bands of violet - his old tribal color - to distinguish them from the rest of the Mawite horde.
The Battle of Tython was a narrow yet devastating defeat for the Brotherhood of the Maw, and though Ronar survived and, in a dramatic twist, was elevated into a leadership role as part of the elite Scar Hounds faction, the battle was mostly a disaster for the Violet Wolves. Out of the thirty men that Ronar had assembled, only four survived the battle: Tegash, Dawi, Kellain, and Hornath. Rather than try to assemble more, Ronar changed direction, training the men exclusively in the raiding tactics of his tribe and transforming them from a large formation to an elite corps of personal bodyguards. This had the effect of solidifying the bonds between Ronar and his Wolves, transforming them from simple respect and admiration to nearly fanatical devotion. Ronar had brought them through a terrible conflict and gifted them knowledge of war, and they would return the favor by serving him loyally and faithfully.
The Violet Wolves deployed next at Mustafar, and though the outcome of the battle was indecisive, all the Violet Wolves managed to survive and gain greater battlefield experience with their new tactics. They then returned to the Scar Hounds homeworld of Mar'Zambul to await their next assignment.

- Description: Ronar’s Men, also known as the Violet Wolves, are the personal bodyguards and combat troops of Ronar, warrior of the Brotherhood of the Maw. Totaling four soldiers, by name of Tegash, Dawi, Kellain, and Hornath, they have been personally trained by Ronar in his tribe’s merciless tactics of ambush, rapid movement, and overwhelming assault. The soldiers are devoted to Ronar alone, having been part of the original thirty-man detachment that served under him in the devastating attack on Tython. They were drawn first by his strength and presence, and his displays of ruthlessness and battle skill during the engagement have secured his position in their minds as one of the best warriors amongst the Brotherhood. Personality wise the soldiers are stoic and expressionless, communicating only enough from behind their faceless masks to affirm their commander’s orders. This sense of calm rapidly melts away, however, as soon as battle is joined; in the battle line, the Violet Wolves are all the bit as merciless and ferocious as their fearsome commander.
- Unit Size: Small
- Unit Availability: Unique
- Unit Experience: Trained
- Unit Equipment:
- Each trooper carries an FS-18 Omega Phase Assault Rifle, an HH-38 “Geysa” Hybrid Pistol, an SHT-77 “Bonecrusher” Vibroweapon, and a set of SHT-07 “Hound” Combat Armor
- Each trooper also carries two fragmentation grenades, one smoke grenade, and an equipment pack including rations and other miscellaneous battle gear
- Tegash, the unit’s medic, additionally carries a first aid kit and other battlefield medical supplies.
- Dawi, the unit’s explosive’s expert, additionally carries two breaching charges and a single EMP grenade.
- Combat Function: The Violet Wolves are first and foremost assault infantry, using speed, mobility, and firepower to find gaps in enemy defenses that they can then exploit to wreak havoc in the enemy’s lines. In a defensive engagement, they can lay ambushes to whittle down the enemy’s numbers before launching a devastating counterattack. As a secondary role they serve as Ronar’s honor guard, protecting him both on the battlefield and off of it.
- Mobility: The Violet Wolves are small in size, yet this size often works to their advantage in wars of mobility. They can maneuver easily through tight spaces, move at speed without compromising unit cohesion, and are a smaller drain on resources than larger, bulkier formations.
- Stealth: Due to their smaller size and training by Ronar in tribal raiding tactics, the Violet Wolves are well equipped and versed for stealth operations.
- Firepower: The FS-18 rifles and HH-38 pistols carried by the Violet Wolves possess a great deal of firepower, especially in close quarters.
- Devoted: The Violet Wolves are devoted, almost zealously so, to their menacing commander. They follow his orders without question and will never abandon him, no matter the situation.
- Vulnerable: Though their small size gives the Violet Wolves their greatest strength, it is also their greatest weakness. All it takes is a single well-placed artillery shell, bombing run, or hand grenade to completely wipe the squad.
- Lack of Staying Power: The Violet Wolves are designed for the attack. Even in defensive engagements, they are intended to be used offensively, laying ambushes and launching counterattacks whenever possible. Thus, they are immediately at a disadvantage if pinned down or otherwise forced to hold a position for a prolonged period of time.
- Lack of Heavy Weapons: Though they carry a great deal of firepower in the form of their small arms and assorted grenades, the Violet Wolves lack any form of true heavy weaponry such as repeating blasters or ordnance launchers. This ties in to their lack of staying power by limiting their ability to deal with armored vehicles or to suppress the advance of coordinated infantry.
