I have been considering the idea for a while now and during my little pause it has just grown in my interest to do it! Originally intended for it to be a faction campaign, I have now opted for making it public and seeing where it leads the participants.
The War Beyond is a threat towards the Galaxy and can be adapted to be as local as desired. A combination of real-space cults have been corrupted by entities inside of Chaos (the Force Plane of the Nether) to return them to real-space and disrupt the fabric of reality with devastation and destruction. The so called Octarchy has diverse cults and followers in real-space, from militant groups to corporations and governments and through sacrifices and rituals they want to return their specific member of the Octarchy. Each member of the Octarchy is an Avatar of a certain aspect: Terror, Deception, Seduction, Power, Unlife, Destruction, Wrath and Hate.
They are certainly Dark Side aligned but definitely not Sith aligned despite some of them having been Sith. I will not reveal too much for each of them, but if you are interested to join hosting this campaign, you will see all of them. They seek utter domination and destruction of reality through any means possible. Inspirations vary from Abeloth, Palpatine and Valkorion from Star Wars, the Eternal Conflict from Diablo between Angels and Demons, the Warp-Gods from Warhammer and the Daedra from Elder Scrolls.
The idea is that they use the Netherworld, Beyond Shadows and the World Beyond Worlds to escape Chaos. Hence why the War is beyond, it will partly happen in the different Force planes. Aside from fighting and preventing the cults in real space, that happens in real space of course.
The Threat is basically the beginning of this campaign and will deal with the first of those that is closest to emerging, the Avatar of Destruction also called The Iron King. The first thread would deal with raising awareness of the threat and fighting several more overt cult activities across the Galaxy and to potentially gather our merry band of heroes and antiheroes to deal with them. There is an organisation which is aware of their emergence, called the Dragon Guard, who would seek help locally to forge an alliance to overcome this threat.
