The Wedding of Josh DragonsFlame & Shmi Labooda

PAST THREAD - 2+ YEARS PRIOR
NABOO

A whirlwind of emotions were flying through Josh’s head. Why? Well, it was simple, really...

The big day had finally come.

The wedding was really quite simple, small. To be frank, the lot of them really didn't have a whole lot of friends that had stuck around. So the venue wasn't big, there wasn't anything too fancy. Just a large white veranda, decorated with flowers and others splendour, overlooking the sea on Naboo, where Josh and Shmi had lived together for some time. And where Josh had grown up, before he had joined the Jedi. This was no big Commonor royal wedding, like the one Josh would find himself attending two years later, but to him and Shmi, it was more than enough.

The guest list was small, but one notable one was the Queen Of Commenor to be (At the time), [member="Lady Kay"] who Josh counted as one of his closest friends. There were others, mainly people Josh had worked with, but the list was small. The bride, [member="Shmi Labooda"], had been allowed to invite people as well, if there was anyone of note she cared to...

An invite had been sent to [member="Coryth Elaris"] if she wanted to come, as well, but Josh had not seen her in some time... One had also been sent to Tracyn Ordo in the case he wanted to come, but it had been so long, Josh had no clue if his old friend would want to be there for the biggest day of his life or not. He'd have sent an invitation to Tracyn's wife, Asha Seren and their family if he could have, but...

Either way, the groom would make his way down the aisle, meeting the minister up front. He looked to his left to see the two droids that had kept him company for some time there, both R4-J6 and his HK unit, the latter who he built from scratch by trial and error.

He would turn as the piano would begin to play to bring in the bride...

Kay just sat on the groom`s side of the aisle. She knew that this day would come for him and wondered if it would come to her one day. Maybe. [member="Josh DragonsFlame"] was one of her bestest friends and she didn't want to miss this day for the world. She wondered if [member="Shmi Labooda"] was nervous at all. She probably would be. But then again, Kay didn`t know all that much about her. But the ceremony was going to be lovely, she knew that.

As Josh looked her way, Kay would give him a smile and nod. She wondered how long it would be before the first joke came out of his mouth.

Her chest rose and collapsed when she released the air, she'd took to taking a few big breaths as to calm herself. Of course these sort of things were beyond her, she'd never been to a wedding beyond ever thinking she'd walk in her own. It was for this reason she opted for something small and more intimate. She hesitated on sending invitations, thinking them unnecessary but with Josh thinking of inviting his friends she figured she'd reconsider. [member="Coci Heavenshield"] and [member="Thurion Heavenshield"] were two she thought of after all they'd done for her when she ascended to Grandmaster, beyond those two most of those she knew were either dead or she lost contact with.

For her since she faded from the limelight...she enjoyed a much simpler life. Mostly not even considering returning to the Order, and when she found out she was expecting well...that sealed the deal for her to take even more time off.

Funny how the news came about, they could joke around about it as much as they wanted now, but it was a rough period of time for them.

She winced when the piano started playing, when the doors opened she stood there for a second before she locked her eyes on Josh. Before long she'd be joining him at the altar. Making her walk down the aisle she kept her eyes on Josh, the presence of everyone else would make her more nervous than she was.

When she made it to the minister she stood just in front of the man she was to marry.

"I knew you'd clean up nice..." she said softly, teasing him a bit. "Your not going to cry are you?"

The invitation had reached them out of the blue, and she was delighted to see an old friend happy and getting married. This event was ever a special occasion and she knew them both which made this even more special. Thurion and herself would arrived just a little late, the trip from Midvinter is long and tiring, and so they waited just outside the room as the bride passed them and they would sneak in after she arrived to take the vows and find a seat.

Shmi looked radiant, as brides do on their wedding day and her focus was set on Josh, as it should be. He seated at a piano played for her and the mood was just perfect for them both. Coci squeezed Thurion's hand and guided him to the seats at the back of the room, not wanting to make any disturbance with their arrival and they sat to watch the ceremony. She did not let go of her husband's hand, but raised it to place a soft kiss on his finger before settling in to take it all in.

Dusaro had not been particularly surprised to hear that his master [member="Josh DragonsFlame"] was getting married. He had only seen [member="Shmi Labooda"] a few times but he had seen them together enough to get the idea. He had made a point of arriving early, taking a seat with his fellow Padawan [member="Douglas Starwind"] in the visitors section. Dusaro had never been to a wedding before, in his former occupation that wasn't something that happened often and now that he was a Jedi, well it wasn't all that much different really on that front.

Even though Dusaro was watching the pair, he was not really focused on either of them. He was just feeling the moment, the emotions and feelings in the air. Over all he was happy for his Master, who had found such a person for him. Dusaro was not convinced he himself would ever be up there but seeing someone close to you up there was... Satisfying in its own way.

Douglas Starwind

Head of Fire, Heart of Gold
In a trip down memory lane around two years prior...

Douglas Starwind had been invited to the wedding of his Jedi Master, [member="Josh DragonsFlame"]. It was to [member="Shmi Labooda"], who he had seen a few times in the past. Like Dusaro, he had also gotten the gist of the two's relationship from what he had seen. Given how Tatooine was, Doug had not really been to any weddings growing up. His parents had already tied their own knot before he was even born so he never got a chance to experience any festivities associated with a wedding... Ah, how simple things were... He was always excited to experience new things in life, though.

Doug had taken a seat and was soon joined by [member="Dusaro Dresari"], his fellow Padawan and good friend. Doug could feel a sort of happiness emanating in the air and it brought a smile to his face. He felt happy for his Master and friend. Everything just felt sort of nice today. Doug watched as the bride walked to the altar and joined up with thy mighty blond. It was beginning...

To be honest, Josh had no idea so many people would show up. I mean yeah, he and Shmi had sent invitations... But this turnout was more than anything beyond his wildest dreams for a wedding, especially when they had planned a small one. [member="Lady Kay"] he was grateful had shown. She was going to be the Queen Of Commenor in time, after all, she was a very, very busy woman, a Lady in every sense of the word. He was happy to see his two Padawans, [member="Douglas Starwind"] and [member="Dusaro Dresari"] arrive... Yes, he was their teacher, but he felt grateful to them for deciding to honour him on a personal level as well... They were his students, yes... But he also wanted to say he could count them amongst his friends. It meant a lot to him to be able to show his students something on a personal level, instead of merely a lesson...

He was surprised most of all, though, at the arrival of [member="Thurion Heavenshield"] and [member="Coci Heavenshield"]. The (at the time) Grandmaster Of The Silver Jedi Order, as well as the other head honcho, but both were very important, both of them... And very busy. Shmi had invited them, no doubt, but he couldn't help but feel very grateful for them showing, for them making room in their schedules for them... It meant so much. And he knew it would mean so much to Shmi as well.

All he could feel... as gratefulness... And he had to keep from bowing his head in respect to the audience, and giving away what he was feeling too strongly. Instead, his eyes would keep to the doors as he would await the arrival of the bride...

He couldn't help but let his mind wander in those moments. Weddings didn't always go well... What if Shmi had second thoughts? He tried not to think about that, but... What if [member="Shmi Labooda"] didn't walk through those doors? What if she'd changed her mind? What if there was someone else?

All doubts were dashed though, when the doors would open and the bride herself would walk down the aisle. His eyes widened lightly, as his pupils widened as well just a bit as he saw her. She was just... She was just so beautiful. He felt his heart beating rapidly in his chest, just from the sight of her... And the sheer joy that radiated through him could be seen from all across the room, it was all over his face.

His lips twitched into a confident, cheeky smirk as she made her joke.

"No promises."

When she caught his eye, the sight of his expression made her blush. Even then she could feel his heart beating, they'd developed that type of bond over time. Surely he could feel how nervous she was, just the simple fact that she couldn't even keep her tan cheeks from turning a rosey red. And, when she did place her hands into his own she could definitely tell he was slightly nervous as well...probably overthinking it; he did that often.

She looked out, and finally took those who gathered to witness their ceremony. Grateful to see the faces of [member="Lady Kay"] and [member="Coci Heavenshield"] and [member="Thurion Heavenshield"] she'd known them to be extremely busy individuals with families of their own and even then they came to support.

She glanced over at [member="Dusaro Dresari"] and [member="Douglas Starwind"] who were both students under Josh, and in the few times she'd gotten to meet them she could tell they were coming into their own. She was excited to see what their future would hold...

She smirked and allowed her head fall, she tugged at his hands. Them teasing one another and joking around was pretty much the basis of their relationship. It was one of the ways they showed their affection, "Yeah I can't promise that either...I feel it starting already."

To be invited to a wedding was always a big deal. It meant you were thought of in one of the most important moments in another person's life, and that meant something. The honor didn't make it any less awkward - not in an uncomfortable, 'why am I here' sort of way, but the sort that made a person hyper aware of the things going on around them. Emotions were high and that could be contagious if a person wasn't careful. Wasn't that why people cried at weddings? The over abundance of happiness that spread through the wedding couple as well as their guests?

Whatever it was, it made Anora shift in her seat so that she could look around yet again. After all, (almost) every girl dreamed up a fantasy wedding at some point in their lives, and attending a wedding now made her wonder if she would ever actually have this sort of thing in the future now. Granted, that thought didn't make her any less happy for her master or his bride-to-be. Nor did it keep her from feeling truly honored to be invited in the first place.

Thankfully, once the bride appeared, her thoughts quieted and she was able to focus on [member="Josh DragonsFlame"] and his union to [member="Shmi Labooda"].

Kay didn't know anyone else other than [member="Josh DragonsFlame"] . His bride to be she only knew by what Josh had spoken about her. And with no names to go with the faces of the other guests, she couldn't tell one from the other without asking.

Regardless Kay planned on enjoying herself. How long she'd stay all depended on how long the ceremony was. No ddoubt she'll have to give the new couple her best wishes and their gifts. But that'll happen later.

Commenor would survive without her being there for a day.

[member="Anora Vahn"] had arrived as well, just in time for the ceremony to begin. He would smile when he saw her, grateful that another of his trusted Padawans had arrived as well. Though when he looked from [member="Anora Vahn"] to [member="Lady Kay"] he at first had to wonder if that was actually Anora there, or if Kay had brought her sister or something, and that caused him to quirk a brow. They looked so alike... The resemblance was uncanny. The only difference is Kay looked much older. Hah!

He turned back to his wife-to-be, Shmi Labooda, and smirked in turn.

"Let's both try to save the tears for after the ceremony."

With the both of them there, the priest would begin...

"We gather here today
In a galaxy torn asunder by strife
By war
By light
And by darkness
To show that even amongst it all
Something incredible may blossom
Love is something that can be complicated, but
It has been proven, especially now
That it may overcome all
Light
Dark
Strife
War
Amongst it all, true love blossoms here today, in front of you all
As we unite the pairing of Joshua DragonsFlame, and Shmi Labooda, as they take one another's hands in holy matrimony
Now, Mr. DragonsFlame...
I understand that you have written your own vows, that you wish to recite to your beloved?"
The Jedi Master would take a deep breath in turn. Indeed... He had. He was nervous, he knew. But he'd written these vows, spent hours agonizing on it... He was no poet, no, but every word had been constructed with every inch of his being, and from the deepest depths of his heart. With that, Josh would take a deep breath, biting his lip for a few moments as the entire area was hushed... Finally, he cleared his throat, looked into his beloved's eyes... And spoke.

"My darling, beloved, shining Shmi...
I think I have the confidence to say this now...
That I have truly loved you
Since the very moment I laid my eyes upon you
Deep down I have always wished, that this day would come
That I would be able to tell you just how I feel
And know we would be together
Forever
And always
May the Force guide us through this life
No matter where it
And the galaxy
Takes us
I vow that no matter where we travel
From here on Naboo
To the sands on Tatooine
From the cold of Ilum
To the depths of Nar Shadda
No matter where we go
No matter where we travel
No matter where our journey may take us
Through good
Through bad
Through peace
And through battle
I vow
To love you unconditionally through all
To remain loyal and unyielding in my vows to you
Throughout all that may come
Here I feel I can finally tell you
That I love you more than life itself
You are my sun and my moon
You are the stars in my sky
You have made me so happy, changed me so much
Without you, I would not know the happiness that I have held for all of this time we have spent together
I have learned so much, learned that I am not a weapon... But a person
I have learned what it truly means to be alive
And it is all thanks to you
Thank you...
This life I have built, I would give it all for you
And from this day forward, Shmi Labooda, I vow I will love you...
Forever
And always."
Taking a deep breath to recompose himself, Josh stood back as he looked back at the priest, letting him speak again. The priest then, would look toward Shmi, to see if she had any vows of her own, or if she wished to simply repeat the regular ones the priest would speak toward her... Normally he wouldn't do this, but as Josh had written his own, it was only fair to see if she had her own first.
