The Whispers

After the sudden disappearance of Edward's master, Edward has continued his own path, getting more knowledge as an engineer and practicing his fighting ability when he had the time, and even feeling out the "force" in certain locations, which Edward's former master suggested he'd do to get used to the feeling of the "Force" that surrounds him, though he has found it rather difficult but he has tried.

Currently, Edward is flying his own ship through the Mid Rim region when suddenly, he stopped in the Katarr system... he flew his ship near the space of the planet known as "Katarr" which he started to search up information about in his GUI, he didn't know why he stopped but it felt like he had a need to... like there is a calling that prompted him to. After the information is gathered, it revealed itself that Katarr is a dead planet, and has been for ages... but is that really the case? the closer he moves his ship to Katarr, the more he feels some sort of calling... something in the force that's attracting him, some sort of... whisper.

Is this perhaps what his old master meant, to feel out echo's of the force such as this one in order to better understand it? he remained on the ship, but sat down in meditation in order to feel out this sudden calling to him.

Katarr, Wasteland near Defiance

It hadn't been long since Darth Abyss, the Prophet of the Free Cities, had returned to watch over his realm. Most thought to Katarr to be nothing more then a dead rock floating in space, and he had done his best to keep it that way.

In his absence many things had fallen to ruin, despite the efforts of his endless organization of agents, soldiers and thugs. Many had seen his leave as a sign of weakness and rose to the occasion, trying to usurp the power for themselves. Gang wars had ravaged the wastelands, leaving the smaller settlements to burn and rot, while the people of the true cities struggled to survive their day to day live.

When he returned most simply laid down their weapons and sworn loyalty once more, knowing that only certain death awaited those that opposed the Prophet in the domain of his own creation. Yet a few had resisted the call, these outlaws among the outlaws, and retreated into the caves and faded cities of the old age that still remained on Katarr. For days Abyss had lead his forces on raids, eliminating what remained of them piece by piece.

Such a raid had brought him into the wasteland today, but his forces had already returned to the city while their leader stayed behind, following a calling of the force. The strange entity slowly marched through the empty, barren lands, once a figure or terrifying glory, now simply an avatar of nightmarish terror. The crown and mask was shrouded by a wide hood, his shell hidden below not only his ragged robe, but under layer upon layers of dirty grey and black rags, wrapped around his arms and legs to hide the decay and deformation that his forged body had suffered.

Hollow eyes, nothing more than a black void within his mask rose to the air like they could actually see, his mind searching the sky for anything that could tell him why the force had asked for his presence.

Edward kept trying to focus on this constant echoing that felt like it was now shouting at him but he just can't focus on this particular echo in the force... if he can't try to connect with this mysterious whisper through the force, then perhaps a more physical hand is needed. He started to fly his ship down towards the planet's surface, in the distance he had seen tall buildings that were wrecked, extremely damaged with some of them even fallen off. It is clear that something happened here long ago that caused the planet's destruction, but it appears it doesn't have life anymore, from what Edward can see.

He continued to fly his ship towards the direction of this whisper, it wasn't a dead city that contained this echo but rather a long, empty barren wasteland. What is the force trying to tell Edward? it seems he shouldn't question the force and rather, go along with it. He landed his ship down as best as he could, opening up the ramp and walking out of his ship, he still had his GUI in his cybernetic helmet in-case he got lost, but he wasn't worried about that right now. The more he started to walk towards this echo, the more it's pulsating throughout the force, and Edward can feel it. Is it an artifact of some sort with some alignment with the force, something that his former master told him about or something else entirely?

It seems Edward didn't care about where he was actually going, this calling in the force had gotten stronger and stronger, it felt like his other worries had started to feel insignificant compared to the strong feeling of discovering whatever this echo is.

Slowly the calling of the force took form. What had been a cryptic peek into a power far beyond the physical realm shaped up into the mind and presence of a living, breathing thing, or at least something similar. Despite the lack of distance between the Mindeater and the unknown presence he struggled to make it out in its entirety, commonly a sign of either force dampening armor forged from void stone, or the presence of someone gifted by the force but also affected by the downside of cybernetic alterations. It wasn't rare to meet a follower of the force on Katarr, the worlds history and twisted field of dark side energy, created when its entire population was devoured by the first lord of hunger Darth Nihilus, was like a bright light to an insect for them.

The husk began his path, making out a landing ship not to far from his position. Despite the fractured, unclear presence it was still save to say that this calling originated from the landing vessel, as there was nothing else to see, hear of feel among the dead lands around him. His body was that of laughing demon, but his steps those of a ghost. Silent, almost weightless, he moved forward, leaving no trace of his existence behind.

Then his dark tendrils, his otherworldly vision that allowed him to see despite his lack of eyes, reached the cyborg, who himself was walking towards Abyss. He couldn't be certain if he was friend of foe, but it was rare that force brought together two individuals if their fate was not intertwined in one way or another. His precise steps came to a hold, leaving just enough room to be out of the reach of most weapons, while still making his presence clearly known to the cyborg. Black rags, and a ragged black robe danced in the wind, as the husk lifted his arms and gathered his power to summon his voice.

Instead of the otherworldly whisper he normally called upon, he made it a storm, a powerful cold wind blasting through the wasteland without his metal jaw moving even the slightest inch. The words themselves were followed by a presence even more twisted then the voice of the creature, a all devouring void that desired nothing more than to consume everything in its path.

"Who dares to enter my realm without my blessing? Speak truthfully or I will release your mind and soul into the endless void."

Edward had finally eyed upon a rather peculiar figure in the distance, is this what the Force had led Edward towards, some old rusty statue on a dead planet of the past? it seems he was wrong however as the figure had suddenly made a powerful speech that seemed like it's shouting at Edward from everywhere around him. He kneeled down to the figure and answered truthfully as he asked. "My name is Edward Varric, a human cyborg. I was travelling through systems just minutes ago until I felt... a whisper, a calling in the force." he paused for a few seconds, looking at the figure once more.

"It seems the Force has led me to you... my former master told me to seek out such echo's when the opportunity arised, hence why I landed my ship here to physically see what I was feeling..." he kept checking over the figure, taking note of it's rather weird appearance, is it perhaps a force spirit of sorts? it certainly doesn't look human but it's not too far from it.

He kept kneeling down, his heartbeat was rising fast as it seems the calling was still there, it must be from this figure, no doubt about it. "I am not experienced in the force, so I hope you don't mind me asking... but do you know why the Force has brought us together like this?"

"There are many possibilities, and even I can only see some of them. Maybe I am meant to guide your path, or maybe I am meant to simply end your meaningless life. The forces offers many things, but certainly is not among them."

The storm of voice had faded, and in its place a whisper had taken form. Despite the distance the words would sound like spoken directly into the ears of the cyborg, as if the husk stood right besides him. Abyss was a seer with few that could rival him, but fate was always a network composed of endless variables, always changing and shifting. With knowledge and prophetic vision a individual could make an educated guess about the future, but there was always a chance that everything would play out utterly different.

"Your master was wise then. The will of the force is inevitable and only a fool would try to resist their fate."

The hollow figure began to walk once more, deformed legs carrying his ghostly appearance to close the distance between him and [member="Edward Varric"]. Abyss was fully aware what impression he made on others, and instead of hiding what he had become he had embraced it with every inch of his being.

"You hunger for greatness, your gift encased in worthless metal awaits the day where it is to emerge in its full glory. I could show you the path, but what are you willing to sacrifice to reach it?"

Abyss had use for a new apprentice, and this strange calling of the force was generally a sign that this man was a good choice. Yet before he would make a decision he first would test what metal he was made out of.
