The World's Gettin Darker

Darben Skirae was on Imhaylan. It had been some time since their wedding. And he just couldn't help himself when he saw the news. This...amber that had been spoken of. It set fear right in him. And he was worried, when [member="Stardust Australis Skirae"] had gone out around the same time. He was worried she was still out there, and so as soon as he had heard he made a call to her. And then he waited in their Imhaylan home, waited, distressed with his canteen in hand.

The canteen had been full. Now it was about half full, and he was slightly slumped in a chair. He was worried sick about her.

She returned

Her armour battered, her sword dulled and face still dirty with blood and cinder. She walked through the streets of her planet as people looked to her in silence. No one dared speak to her for it was apparent she had business. She walked all the way up to the hill her house stood as she opened the door and looked to the chair darben sat in

sorry I didnt respond to the call...I had to fo ish a few things before heading home...

Darben Skirae looked up as soon as came in and saw him in the chair. He saw right away, it was a blatant lie. And he stared at her, almost a glare. "You told me...you told me you were going to drop it. Drop it all, live a normal life" he said, standing up. "Do you know how much I worry? Seeing the holonet to hear about some big battle, or some civil war to think that you are involved in it?" He took a bit of a stumble, it would be obvious that he wasn't all there. Lack of sleep and drinking, how he used to be.

this was something I couldnt ignore...something that wouldve effected us all....had I not gone to help

She knew he was upset, she could feel it within the force...she also felt ashamed for lying, but his was her life, the way of the warrior was all she knew the way of a protector, someone that those that needed protection could call upon...she glanced up seeing him stumbling as she frowned...she was the cause of this...

I know...but these are allies that call upon my help my clan that calls for my aid...and our queen kay and...the commenori knights that I put my service for...I know...its hard

She knew he wouldn't understand...he wouldnt understand what it was like to hear those drums to here the cries of those in need...to those that cried for help

"Something you couldn't ignore, right" he said, glaring now. Though it was true, it was something that would affect everyone. But he wasn't interested in thinking about everyone right now. His focus was on them. The four of them. Him, [member="Stardust Australis Skirae"], Brigh and Renla. "Let someone else fight those fights. Let someone else step in." He didn't take more steps forward, but he wasn't looking great.

"What if you die" he suddenly came out saying. "What if you don't come home one day. And I'm left alone with Brigh and Renla. Renla can care for herself, but Brigh?"

She looked away, her hand clenched tight as she closed her eyes, she turned towards her armor stand and started pulling it off as she listened to his rambling, half listening half trying not to snap...he wouldnt understand at all he wouldnt!

Then...his next words hit her hard, causing her to stop as she put the chest piece on the stand and sighed looking down to her hands...still had blood on them...blood that was sacrificed for the greater good...for good

those thoughts...are always on my mind darben, every time I go out...but I worry darben...I worry greatly what if the sith decided to attack commenor? This peace we have is so bloody fragile...I want to protect that...so I can protect you and the girls

Darben kept his stare to [member="Stardust Australis Skirae"], kept his gaze steady as he could while drunk. "When they come, then you deal with it. But you always leave. You go far away. Renla takes care of the shop, I take care of Brigh. And you come back with blood. Should I even ask who's blood that is?" he asked, gesturing to her hands. Was it an allies, an enemies? Was it hers? He didn't even think to ask if she was wounded, if she was okay.

She looked to her hands again, blood...it wasnt hers...it was a mix of each side all staining that green skin. She finished taking her armor off and closing the case locking it as she looked over the scorched damaged armor...he was right, she shouldnt worry until they came to attack their home. She sighed as she started fir the wash room

war...always leaves blood, doesnt matter in the end whose...it all drains

She turned he water on as she started to scrubbed her hands, she closed her eyes as tears formed in her eyes, then fell as she leaned agaisnt the wash bin

i..cant escape it! I dont know a normal life!

She said sobbing as she fell to her knees, she didnt know a normal life....nearly 30 years of war, 30 years in which she hopped around from army to army, faction to faction a woman of several armies carrying her sabers and blasters...

Darben wanted to just burst there, when she spoke of blood. He stumbled after as she went into the washroom, standing at the doorway. Like a shadow. But it seemed she was first to snap. And she fell crying and that's when he realized just how hard he was being. His face fell, no longer glaring. He was frowning. At himself. This wasn't him, he was calm and kind. Not the pointing fingers type. And he had caused [member="Stardust Australis Skirae"] to snap into a crying mess.

He knelt by her side, and he put his hands upon her shoulder softly. And slowly, pulled her close to him, as he held and attempted to cradle her. "I'm sorry, I don't know...I'm not myself, all I said."

She pressed herself to him, sobbing inti his shoulder getting his clothing dirty with cinder and a little blood. She needed to stop she needed to retire...she made a decision right then and there...she needed to stop going on the offensive and simply go defensive...she turned her head towards him as she sniffled

your right, what if I do finally fall? Leave you behind...leave my daughters behind without a mother...i..its..its time I simply just defend...stay home till its extremely needed...focus on my duties as a mother and wife...as a queen

Darben rested a hand upon the back of her head, doing his best to soothe her. She would no doubt smell it on him, but he was reigning himself now. For [member="Stardust Australis Skirae"]'s sake. He felt bad that he was right, that she said so at least. And yet she was crying over it still.

"For the time being, yes. Until something does happen, stay home...we need not worry any longer." Was he selfish in wanting her to stay? To not save others? Was Darben being unkind to others, from taking a loyal protector away from the front?

She nodded, she looked down ans sighed as she wiped her eyes ans looked to her hands again stained with...years ans specks of blood now. She looked up to him smelling that alcohol on him yet all she wanted right now was to pull him as close as possible and just never let go of him

for the time being then...I wont go out and fight

Darben Skirae raised his hand to help wipe away her tears. He hated seeing her so sad. She was so strong, but now he had to be strong to keep her strong. "Thank you, Star...it's all I ask" he said. But was it too much to ask? He did not even come to think of this, of how selfish it was to keep her away from helping others, keeping her to himself. As long as they were safe, he could feel happy that she was to live.

"Let's get you cleaned up, now. We don't want Brigh seeing you covered in blood crying, now do we?" It did not bother him that he shared some of that blood on him though.
