- Description: The Zuguruk Artificers of the Sith Empire were the masters of the technological and the metallurgical. Drawing inspiration from a long line of Sith alchemists and architects over the millennia, the Artificers combined modern technological advances with ancient mysticism to forge the foundation of Sith supremacy in the galaxy. The Zuguruk were drawn from the Empire's most inquisitive and creative Sith, willingly submitting themselves to cybernetic enhancements to conjoin flesh with sacred machinery. Through this merger of meat and metal, they were able to integrate with any piece of technology in the galaxy by manipulating both hardware and software with the Dark Side power of mechu-deru. Gradually, this intimacy with machinery stripped their personalities down until all that remained was cold logic, a fair sacrifice for the accumulation of knowledge and power over the machine.

- Combat Function: The primary protocol of the Zuguruk is to act in a supplementary role during military engagements, acting alongside combat engineers and Imperial sappers to undermine enemy fortifications and access zones typically restricted to normal Legionnaires. They can also serve as mechanics to damaged Imperial vehicles, their mastery of the Dark Side allowing them to identify the problem and repair it faster and more intuitively than non-Force sensitive mechanics.
- Masters of Machinery: With the power of the Dark Side, the Zuguruk are capable of integrating with virtually any mechanical interface and manipulating it through mechu-deru.
- Accumulated Knowledge: The Zuguruk retain any and all information they absorb, storing it in bio-organic databanks. They are capable of recalling any piece of information they've stored within moments, making them exceptionally equipped to manage routine actions involving technology.
- Cybernetics: Though the Zuguruk's advanced cybernetics give them an advantage, they also suffer the drawbacks of mechanical beings in that they can be disabled by sustained ionic weaponry or other such electrical discharges. They also cannot use the power of the Sith Lightning without fear of accidentally short-circuiting their own systems.
- Emotionless: The more a Zuguruk interfaces with machines, the more machine-like they become as their emotions are stripped away piece by piece. The most learned and experienced of Zuguruk act just like the machines they have interfaced with.
In the society of the ancient Sith, the Zuguruk was the second-highest caste of Sith. They were charged with the building on elaborate burial mounds, particularly the grand mausoleums and sarcophagi that litter the Valley of the Dark Lords on Korriban. Over time, their duties changed with the arrival of the Dark Jedi Exiles. Instead of furthering the wonders of Sith architecture, their talents were put to building warships and other machines of war for the new Dark Lords of the Sith. The near entirety of the Zuguruk caste was killed at the end of the Great Hyperspace War, though there remained isolated pockets on the hidden worlds of Athiss and Tantorus. Their ancient knowledge was preserved for thousands of years, never seeing the light of the greater galaxy until the aftermath of the Four-Hundred Year Darkness.
When the modern Sith rediscovered Athiss and Tantorus the Zuguruk returned to conventional society. Fulfilling the same roles as before, the Zuguruk aided the Sith in building complex machinery over the course of several decades in multiple wars propagated by the One Sith and other Sith organizations. When the One Sith collapsed, the Zuguruk rallied under the banner of the Sith Lord Kaine Zambrano and went on to form the basis of the Tenth Sith Empire's Corps of Engineers.
Combining science and mysticism, the Zuguruk fashioned the Empire a massive starfleet capable of contending with the other intergalactic powers. During this time, the ranks of the Zuguruk were opened up to non-Pureblood Sith of exceptional technological aptitude. Cybernetics became the norm among the Zuguruk, with members of the caste willingly stripping away their emotions to become more machine-like. In time, the Zuguruk became more than just engineers, they became powerful cybernetic Lords of the Sith that wielded the power of the Dark Side in one hand and technological might in the other.
