OUT OF CHARACTER INFORMATION
- Intent: To create a much-needed long-term pilot for the Harlock.
- Role: A guy hired by Alyosha to pilot his ship, he also has some minor combat capabilities. His laid-back personality serves as a foil to Alyosha, who has a lot of hangups and needs to loosen up a bit.
- Permissions: N/A
- Links: This character briefly existed as a (very different) PC. He has appeared in almost every Alyosha thread since his introduction in "It Happened One Night".
- Age: 30
- Force Sensitivity: Non-Force User
- Species: Wroonian
- Appearance: Theo Vathek is a Wroonian, a blue-skinned humanoid species commonly confused with Pantorans or Chiss. He stands at 5'9" (1.7 m) and has a slender build. His eyes are blue and his dark hair is always disheveled. He is rarely seen outside of his flight suit. When necessary he dons a protective helmet with a green visor.
- Name: Theo Vathek
- Loyalties: Alyosha Drutin. He used to be part of the Outer Rim Coalition, where he served as a border patrol agent. He was fired for disorderly conduct.
- Wealth: Not very wealthy. He's paid an honest wage by Alyosha, but doesn't own a home or even a ship of his own. For all intents and purposes, he lives on the Harlock.
- Notable Possessions: Flight suit, helmet, some civilian clothes... and a decent rifle.
- Skills:
- Pilot - Top of his class! Well, not really, but he’s pretty good. He figures that as long as he plays it safe, avoiding risky maneuvers, he’ll be just fine...
- Rifleman - It comes with his excellent hand-eye coordination.
- Survivalist - He likes being in nature, and knows how to survive in the wild with whatever resources he has on hand.
- Personality: A useful idiot with little more than partying on his mind, he is nonetheless a good pilot with refined instincts. He has attached himself to Alyosha, whom he considers his best friend. Alyosha finds his company endlessly hilarious, and only occasionally annoying - never a dull moment with this one. Despite his vices, he's got a heart of gold and a sense of humor to match.
- Weapon of Choice: Blaster rifle
- Combat Function: He shoots things.
- Good Instincts - He relies heavily on his instincts, which are more often than not correct.
- Brave - He's got a lot of guts.
- Confident - Sometimes to the point of blundering, though he's usually in the right, so who can blame him?
- Moron - He's not the smartest guy in the room, or even the fifteenth. In fact, he's kind of slow. His mysterious intuition is just about all that's kept him alive over the years.
- Vindictive - He has a vengeful streak, even against those close to him.
- Messy - His section of the ship (including both his personal quarters and the cockpit) is very disorganized and it’s difficult for him to find the things he’s looking for.
- Vices - Theo is victim to a wide variety of vices, be they women, drugs, or drink. The only one he doesn't seem to be susceptible to is gambling.
Wroonians are known for telling boastful, fanciful stories, and Theo is no different. Don't expect him to tell the truth about his past.
What is certain is that he used to be a border patrol agent, scouting and surveying the very edges of the Outer Rim. He was dismissed for disorderly conduct however, stripped of rank, and sent on his way. Alyosha came across him in a bar on Val'hala. He was among the group of people who followed Alyosha back to his ship for an impromptu party, and may or may not have been the one who knocked the assassin out, but since his memories are kind of foggy, there's no way of knowing for sure. Anyway, the two struck up an unlikely friendship/business deal, and now Theo is his pilot. Funny how things work out.
