There Is A Light That Never Goes Out

Alliance Supermax Correctional Facility // Belsavis
One Day After the Battle of Dagobah

"I assure you, this is only temporary," Vice Admiral Zark continued, raising his voice to be heard over the shouts of prisoners they passed by in the minimum security yards, "Its standard procedure for anyone who has received as much Force training as you. You'll only have to stay until your hearing."

[member="Anya Malvern"] was very mad at him.

He could tell, and so she had a right to be. Everything that the Jedi Master had promised would not come to past appeared to be unfolding before her very eyes, and yet the man from Dubrillion was pleading with her to trust him anyway. They were riding together in the back of an armored hovervan currently on their way from the detainee processing center through lower security zones on their way to the maximum security sector. He had promised her that they would treat her fairly, that they wouldn't simply throw her in a dark hole and forget about her, and yet by all appearances that is exactly what seemed to be in the process of happening now.

It had been a long transport ride from the Dagobah system all the way out west to Belsavis, but while the rest of the Imperial Inquisitors' strike team had been relocated to POW camps much closer to the site of the battle, there were few facilities in Alliance space designed to hold someone like Anya. Sullust would have been closer, but Zark had intervened himself to redirect them away from the capital. Sullust was filled with hard liners, the redhead sitting in force shackles across from him would have a far better chance on the more remote prison world of Belsavis, as counter-intuitive as it may seem, where the administration would be far more inclined to take the recommendations of the Jedi who captured her seriously.

"You'll have your own cell," he continued, trying to remain upbeat and put a positive spin on things, "You won't have to share with any of these..."

He trailed off. Monsters, he had been about to say. And yet Zark was delivering his captive into the very same cage, so what did that say about him? This was the best he could do for her, for right now. He had promised to help her get back to her family, and so he would, but they would have to work inside the system for now. Things felt like they were beginning to fall apart, there were rumors of First Order military buildup and it felt like any day now the floodgates would burst. None of this concerned Anya, but there was only so much he could do for her right now without risking not being there for his men when they needed him.

ONLY BLOODY TEMPORARY!

Very mad was a understatement, she was livid! She felt she was lied to right to her face.....she was foolish to put such trust into the Jedi! They always promised good and fair intentions but here she was maximum security prison force shackled glaring with near fire right at the Jedi master before her

And yet she was buying into it once more, not having much trust more less hope at this point. Looking down to her shackles she moved them a bit...seemed a bit fancy for her, either way she needed to focus! She sat back and glanced out of the hover van to what little view she had....feth...it had to be a icy planet

yea...i know what they'll do too, ill plead not guilty and get the book thrown at me...or I'll plead guilty and either be sentenced to life or to death

She sighed and closed her eyes she listened to him rambling trying to improve her mood, sure a nice thing but she just couldn't at all....all she had was determination...if he couldn't make his promise happen she would take reigns

But patience was a virtue

monsters....yeah...fitting isn't it...not like any of them could hurt me. They'd be crisp or dead before they could

She said flatly looking at him

Prisoners as powerful as [member="Anya Malvern"] were kept in solitary. Containing Force practitioners was difficult enough without allowing them close enough to one another to channel their collective power. The armored hovervan had dropped them off at the maximum security wing. It wasn't quite the Tombs, but still the sight of an ancient, foreboding facility sprawling before them did little to still a building rage within his Imperial charge.

This structure and others like it on Belsavis had been used for imprisonment and rehabilitation since the time of the ancient Republic, no other prison in the galaxy had their success rate in retaining some of the most dangerous individuals in all of civilization. This was no place to put someone under his care. But it was a time of war, his options were extremely limited, and Zark was struggling to make do with the best of a series of bad choices that lay before him. His uniform was still stained with blood from the battle at Dagobah, he had not strayed from his task long enough to even change.

What a sight the two of them must have made, a Vice Admiral of the Defense Fleet fresh from battle, escorting a Galactic Imperial Inquisitor through the facility and straight to her assigned cell. There was a moment of charged tension in the air when they reached their destination. For a moment, the Jedi Master feared Anya would react violently when confronted with the reality of being confined. To force his hand in that way would be a tragedy.

"I know you probably think I've tricked you," he said at last to her, outside the cell, "I would too, if I were in your place. But I made you a promise, and by my honor as a Jedi I intend to keep it. What you said before, on the way here. About the system being rigged against you either way. It's not true. There are ways of getting what we both want, within the boundaries of law. I'm not asking you to repent, or swear off the path you are on in the Force. But you didn't ask to fight this war. Your family was taken from you, and I while help you get back to them if I can."

"Jedi, Sith. That's fair. That's right."

He said his brief goodbyes, giving her repeated assurances that he would return to see her shortly. Little did Zark know that this would be the last time he ever laid eyes on Anya Malvern in his life. A priority alert reached his personal comm on the way to see the warden, a personal summons from Supreme Commander of the Galactic Alliance Defense Force Nemo Ven himself, recalling the Vice Admiral to Sullust immediately. Forced to delay his task, Zark would be called once more into battle at the Blockade of the Hydian Way, one which would prove to be his last.

With no time to notify any of his subordinates of his plans to intercede on her behalf, Anya was for all intents and purposes just another prisoner on Belsavis. Of course, as far as she knew she had simply been betrayed, forgotten. Left behind.
