Dialogue Key: Green/Khaki - Dextra Tane | Crimson - Akiya Orime | Plum - Mechu Deru
”You’re sure this is working right Akyia?” Dextra questioned. She didn’t really think anything was going “wrong”, worry was just something that developed in her natural aura now that she was in charge of something. Project Verum was a first step in growing the usefulness of The Obscurium in the eyes of Dextra’s sister Teckla Tane
”Of course it worked right. The clones are viable and I followed FAE’s directions on how to alter the process for what we were doing for the Army of the Lost. You worry too much Director Tane,” Akiya had become much more calm in her duties since the death of Velran Kilran her original “employer”. There was still work to be done, but much of it for now was being done under the direction of The Quasesitorum and Teckla Tane. She demanded results just as much as the deceased Emperor, but there was a bit less of an iron grip around Akiya’s throat.
Dextra was silently nodding. She had learned that the geneticist was quite good at her work, and she knew that instructions from FAE had been painstakingly followed. The “old school” clones that had been produced under Akiya’s management had performed miraculously so it was just over-thinking that had Dextra questioning things as the clones were revealed in their full grown ready state. ”They seem to look good. Just like we asked, nothing that stands out, but at the same time not obvious copies of one another…”
”Deja vu is a hard thing to dismiss when you see three of the same people walking around your town. It pretty much means something is up.” Akiya agreed with a nod. Not such a problem when you needed millions of beings to fill an army. Discretion wasn’t the highest concern when defending or invading during large military objectives.
”That one looks a bit off from your ‘slim, anonymous’ description. I mean law of averages at least one of every batch will likely stand out in a crowd…” Another scientist, Sella Harand (known in The Quasesitorum as Mechu Deru) commented pointing out a specific clone as she was tinkering with some gauntlet she was working on.
”Akiya can you give me the reports on that one?” Dextra asked politely. She knew that each of the clones had designations, but at this point in development also likely had common unassuming names as well. Perhaps even nicknames or call signs. That being the case Dextra hadn’t bothered to learn the designations that Akiya would use to pull the requested reports. “That one” was as good as she could do.
Akiya nodded, tapped her data pad and turned it so that Dextra could view it easily. ”Hmmm. Interesting. Physical marks seemed in spec during incubation,” not long ago it would have pained Akiya to refer to another being’s attributes as specs, but the cloning work she had gone through had made it second nature. She hoped it would go away as he could hopefully work with more than just clones now that there had been a regime change.
”Surprised it couldn’t be detected prior to aging,” Dextra responded with a nod of her head. ”Shame she tests off the charts for just what we’re looking for. But she just won’t blend in like we need. I’m sure there will be uses for her elsewhere. We don’t dispose of valuable assets, do we, Doctor?” There was a smirk on Dextra’s face, but the only response was a shake of Akiya’s head.
