Thief, in the castle

Location: Royal palace, Iridonia

For Milla, life was just one grand adventure. There was always something new to see, places to explore and things to learn. Sometimes the things she wanted to learn were always just out of her grasp. Held out of reach by a person or a place, maybe even both. Right now it was a combination of the both and in great numbers. For a while now, she was learning many different ways to control the force by searching out many various teaching styles. Her latest quest for knowledge was to learn how to be a spell weaver. Which was proving very difficult to find anyone to teach her or any writings on. Until today.

She had learned that there was quite a bit of written knowledge on spell weaving here on Iridonia. Unfortunately she only had a short window of opportunity to get such writings since she'd be leaving the planet in a few days. So that meant she had to act fast. There was a plan.....sort of. The first part was already achieved, find the building where the writings were held. This lead to a second much bigger problem.

Milla stared at the picture of the royal palace she had in her hands. A grand building fit for...well...a royal family. Even on the picture it was a large structure, but in person. She lowered the picture and stared in wonder at the massive structure in front of her. What she sought was somewhere inside that building, along with all the guards, locked doors, security systems, etc, etc.

Most kids would have turned back, but not Milla. Her sharp blue eyes scanned the area till she found a small point of entry. A single being was unloading crates off a hover lift and carrying them through a door on the first floor. Luckily enough, the being never closed the gate onto the premises.

She pulled the hood up on her cloak and made her way across the street. Her bare feet padded softly across the cool cement ground that had yet to be warmed by the morning sun. Milla stopped by the edge of the gate. She peeked around the corner and saw the person unloading the lift was to busy to notice her. Quickly and silently, she moved behind the lift and hid. Once the being turned his back, she darted past and through the door.

The room she entered was a storage room of some sort. Crates of all sizes were stored just about everywhere. Good for cover, but she wasn't staying in here for long. At least she was in, so that would step two down.

" [member="Sinbad"] , we'll leave tomorrow to deal with the rebel incursion in the south. They've started this war, so we shall end it." Right through the halls and just outside the storage room came the voice of Asajj Novar. But not her footsteps. The sonic dampeners in the souls of her cybernetic feet always made her steps completely silent after all. She wasn't alone of course. Sinbad would be there, as well as a couple other guards.

"Get the supplies in their loaded. Out troops need to be properly supplied."

The sound of a voice right there by the door caught her off guard. She hadn't even heard anyone approaching! The sound of the guards drawing closer was all she could hear outside. This was bad, really bad. Her mission just started and she was already cornered in a small room that was about to be filled with guards. She had to think.

Her eyes drifted up towards the ceiling. They could easily see her at ground level, but up high might give her an advantage. With an almost unnatural grace for a child her age, she swiftly climbed up the shelves till she reached the ceiling. She scooted out onto some pipes and tried to find an alternative exit.

Sinbad

"Break my chains, set me free."
Sinbad walked the halls of the royal palace, his blue jacket overlapped by a harness that held two Talon Vibrodaggers. The shapeshifter accompanied Asajj as she prepped to deal with a rebel group in the south. Asajj stopped just outside a door and told Sinbad to get the supplies loaded. The rebels started a war and they needed to finish it.

'You know Sinbad, wars are fun...just let me out.' a voice echoed in his head. He turned to Asajj. "Of course. Make sure not to stress yourself too much, you may be healed but still." Sinbad said as he turned away.

The white haired man opened the closet door and entered the room. "Okay, let's load up these supplies, the speeders are out in the front." Sinbad said as he stood in the room. Two other guards followed and grabbed a couple crates. Then exited. Sinbad turned to the doorway and looked to Asajj.

"How do the men feel about the marching orders?" Sinbad asked as he grabbed a crate and walked into the Hall. He stood there for a second and began to walk. "In any case, going up against their own must be hard on them." Sinbad finished as he gave her a nod. "Just think on that, I'll be right back." He said as he made his way outside.

Sinbad hadn't even taken the time to look around the room. So he didn't notice the palace intruder.

"I know." She practically grumbled the words, her cheeks turning a faint bit of red. Did [member="Sinbad"] really have to start this worry routine? While Asajj didn't mind it, it still embarrassed her. She leaned in the doorway, watching the guards grab the boxes and bring them out as per her orders, though it was Sinbad's question that caused her expression to fall. She didn't want to make this sort of call, but she had to.

There was no way she could understand what it must be like for her soldiers to fight their brothers and comrades angry at her and her family. ".. I'll think on it." She mumbled her words this time, but her attitude shifted as she thought she saw something. Or someone. "You turn into a wolf Sinbad. Do you smell anything off?"

Milla watched as a man with white hair entered the room with two guards. He was talking to someone outside that she couldn't see, but recognized as the first voice she heard moments before. From up on her perch, she watched as they began to carry crates outside. Had she entered the door a minute or two later...

She slowly moved along the pipes that were close to the wall, her horns just barely scraping the ceiling. There definitely wasn't a lot of room to maneuver and the only exit up here was a small vent on the other side of the room. She had bared made it a few feet when someone else entered the room and leaned against the doorframe. Milla paused for a moment to see who it was before quickly leaning back against the wall. Even in that brief moment she swore that person had spotted her. The woman below her then asked the white haired guard if he smelled anything off. This made Milla pause and furrow her brow. What was this lady talking about? She showered last night!

Pushing the weird question from her mind, she began to make her way towards the vent. Slowly, one step at a time. Her bare feet were finding good balance on these pipes but she still didn't want to move to fast, but she couldn't stay here for long.

Sinbad

"Break my chains, set me free."
Sinbad loaded the crate into the speeder, he let out a small sigh. They'd been prepping for an attack on the rebels since he first arrived. Sinbad was concerned though, what if there was a spy among the troops, or what if they simply didn't follow through in their attack. Attacking family, kin, was something that was hard to do...yet it was necessary for the planet to thrive. Having insurgency didn't fair well for anyone.

'Ssssinbad... imagine the chaosss we could caussse, let the insurgency grow, thrive even.' the voice echoed in Sinbad's head.

Sinbad entered the palace again. Choosing to ignore the more feral side of himself. He heard Asajj asked him if he smelled anything off. Sinbad let a grin crack his normally blank face.

"I don't turn into a wolf. I am one." He smiled. But quickly shook it off as he stood near the storage room.

What if it was an assassin? The shapeshifter grabbed the hilt of one of his daggers as he stepped into the room.

'Let me out, I'll sssmell whatever it is you're looking for.' The wolf said.

"Not happening," he said aloud. He glanced around the room. Then looked up to the pipes. He gave Asajj a smile. "Maybe the pipes leaked into some of the rations." Sinbad offered. The man released his dagger and walked towards the doorway. Stopping for a moment.

"I understand you're nervous. But don't let troubles cloud your mind. I'm sure it's nothing." He said placing a hand on her shoulder for a second.

He walked out in the hall and turned back to her. "Maybe some reading will calm you down. Do you have a library?"

"What's not happening?" She blinked curiously at [member="Sinbad"] as he spoke to no one, tilting her head. But there was nothing to it for now. And more importantly, her worries were unfounded. Asajj let out a sigh, nodding her head once. "You're right, I shouldn't keep letting my nerves get the better of me." Then he touched her shoulder. She flinched immediately, her gaze snapping to the floor, but she didn't push him off.

It was.. Comforting.
"My tomes for my spells are in the library. I'll study those before we leave so I'm more prepared." Sinbad was probably going to end up moving a lot of the things here, so for now she'd have to go on her own. It was a quick walk to the library, and an even faster search for her tomes. They were put aside specifically for her, and only her, use. She grabbed one, a tome on how to better control fire, and sat down to begin reading it.

Milla stopped a short distance away from the vent and turned her attention to the man with white hair. What did he mean by 'I am a wolf'? He didn't actually turn into one, did he? These were questions she suddenly didn't want to know the answers to.

Luckily she did come to a stop or she would have missed hearing about the tomes. The very thing she came here for. All she had to do was follow this lady to the library. This all seemed a little too easy, but she wasn't passing up the opportunity.

Finally, she made it to the vent. Fortunately it wasn't on very tight and lead out to the hallway. Milla landed silently on the floor just in time to see Asajj round a corner. Like a small shadow, she tailed the woman to the library. She took up a hiding spot between two shelves a short distance away. Hidden enough to stay out of sight, but exposed enough to watch Asajj. Milla really couldn't tell what the woman was up to, the angle was to poor to see the tome. She just needed a way to get closer.

Sinbad

"Break my chains, set me free."
'HAH, Ssshe thinksss you're crazy. Talking to yourssself? Maybe you should let me free, show her how crazy you really are.' The wolf snickered. Sinbad nodded as Asajj took her leave to study her tomes. The shapeshifter turned, fixing his blue tunic then opening a box and checking on some supplies.

Sinbad closed the crate and exited the room, hearing something squeak as he left. Damn mice.

The man looked to a guard. "How's progress on the preparations?" Sinbad asked as he studied the guard.

The guard just glared. It was very apparent that they didn't like him very much, only respecting him when the princess was in the room.

"You don't need to know outsider, you're only here because the princess permits it." The man said coldly. Sinbad nearly lost his temper. He caught himself reaching for his blade.

"I suggest you avoid such attitude in the future...or you might end up as chow for the wolves." He said with anger in his voice. The shapeshifter then turned and walked away. Heading towards the library at a slow pace.

"If you want to read, I won't stop you." Asajj spoke up from where she was sitting, not even glancing to [member="Milla Caranthyr"] as she thumbed through the pages. She had spent too long of her life as an Assassin, and knew when someone was too close. So far, though, Milla hand't proved herself a threat. Maybe a thief? Or just a curious soul. With a wave of her hand the cyborg pushed out a chair, motioning to it for the teifling to sit in.

"I don't bite, either." [member="Sinbad"]

Milla's planning was cut short when the woman she was following spoke to her. She instinctively ducked behind the shelve. How had she been spotted and when? Slowly Milla peeked her head out as if scanning for danger. Asajj hadn't moved, or even looked at her, instead she used the force to slide a chair out for Milla.

Cautiously, the young girl stepped out from behind the shelves. Each step was on the ball of her feet just in case she needed to spring away in a hurry. The young girl pulled back her hood to get a better look at Asajj, who so far hadn't even looked up at her. Milla came to a stop at the chair, glancing around for a moment, then sat down. She gave the woman a nervous smile, showing off her sharp canines. "How did you know I was there?"

Sinbad

"Break my chains, set me free."
Sinbad stepped stepped slowly allowing himself to regain his composure. Stopping at a window to stare out into the vast land before him. Deep down he longed to run free, to not be held back by his unstable emotions. While looking out, his reflection showed itself on one of the window panes.

His blue eyes looked worried, just a bit. A hint of orange made itself known for a second.

'You know, you keep losssing your temper, and you'll lossse hold of me.' The wolf warned with an ominous chuckle. 'you will let go of all your humanity and revert back into your base instincts.'

"Or maybe that's a lie I tell myself...because I'm afraid" Sinbad argued as he stepped away from the window. He had to hone his emotions so he didn't just give in when he shifted into his normal form, it was all too easy to give in to his urges.

Sinbad neared the library. Instantly picking up on a girl's voice....not Asajj's. The man put a hand one one of his blades as he rounded a corner and stopped outside the door.

An assassin? Possibly. But maybe not. There was no way someone could get past the palace security, not while the troops were prepping for war.

He waited outside, leaning on a wall listening in.

"A guess, really. I could feel something, but I wasn't sure what exactly it was." Well, who it was. The most she knew was it wasn't a threat, whatever was watching. Once [member="Milla Caranthyr"] sat down the young princess turned her attention to her, smiling wide. A child? And an odd one at that. "What brings you here? Was I right in assuming you wanted to read?" Asajj could feel the force from her. Perhaps she had heard of the tomes? Either way, she was welcome.

[member="Sinbad"]

A guess? That's all this woman had to know that Milla was there? Milla sat in her chair trying to figure the woman out for a moment. Then Asajj asked Milla why she was there. The young girl gave a small nod before speaking. "I..I heard that there were books...I mean tomes on how to do speallweaving. Was kinda hoping to learn how to use it." She looked down at her bare feet for a moment. "I'm sorry for sneaking in here."
