This Was Just Supposed to be a Hunting Trip [Ordo]

Dxun, middle 'o nowhere
Until recently, Jatie had spent almost all of her time stuck back home with her mother, handling logistics like weapon upkeep and vehicle repair. Now, that was nice and all - plenty of useful work experience - but it was hardly a place for a young warrior to find her way around the galaxy. With B'Arin back in realspace, though, she'd managed to find some sort of excuse to get her butt off-world. And, as was traditional for Clan Graad initiates just as in many other clans, that meant a hunting trip to Dxun.

With a mid-caliber hunting rifle and some bland but functional armor, the youngest Graad stepped off of the weathered old shuttle she'd borrowed from her dad. She was so excited to wander around a deadly jungle moon that it was almost comical, or at least childish. Never mind the diseases, the dangerous plants, or the deadly animals; the only thing of matter to her was the fact that she was going almost there. She was almost a warrior, and her mom didn't have any reason to hold her back any more.

Naturally, it didn't take Jatie more than twenty minutes after she landed to get perfectly lost in the middle of a bunch of trees. It'd been years since her father had taken her on their last hunting trip. Had she really forgotten everything that she'd learned? She was actually starting to doubt her purpose on the planet when she heard a very loud roar and got body-checked against a tree trunk.

Apparently, trouncing about the Dxun underbrush in full metal armor attracted predators. Who knew?

Ordo set down his Besuliik fighter just in time to see the young Graad get her tin plated shebs bounced off a tree by one of Dxun's native children, a Boma beast.

Ordo popped the canopy on his fighter and stood firing his Ripper at the creature. The green bolts that surrounded the powerful slug streaked at the creature and tore holes in the beast head. Ordo wasn't tge resident genius of Mandalore, but he did know how to handle himself and the well placed shots made quick work of the green beast. Unfortunately, it also made noise and in the jungle of a place commonly known as the demon moon, giving away your position was not the best idea.

Ordo quickly rushed over to check his young vod. His only gear was the Ripper, his black Beskad and the orange bladed Lightsaber Ember had given him. He kept his Ripper out as he moved and covered the girl as she recovered.

"Good start kid." He said from behind the 'T' in his black and orange helmet.

Just as soon as Jatie was under attack, the rather iconic roar of a Ripper tore the air around her to shreds, and whatever had attacked her followed suit. Of course there were more Mandalorians on this moon. It was a practically a communal hunting resort. Pushing herself back to her feet and planting one boot firmly on the peat of the underbrush, she picked up her rifle and turned around to shoot a quick response through her helmet's comm. "Yeah, yeah. Rookie mistake. I get that a lot."

Bracing the butt of her gun against her shoulder, she stood up properly beside whoever it was who had pulled her butt out of the fire. 'Check your weapon.' Safety, power pack, physical damage...all good. Her eyes returned to the forest in front of her, and she sighed into her helmet speaker. "Thanks for the save. This place is a little less hospitable than I remember." Just a little. The last time she'd been here, her daddy had been holding her metaphorical hand.

Well, if your first failure doesn't kill you, try and try again. "I still need to bag something, though. Preferably bigger than a cannok." She looked left and right, trying to find something that more closely resembled cover to hunt under. Gray armor didn't help much in a green and brown forest. But then, her armor was standard faire. Beggars couldn't be choosers, and she'd be damned if not quite fitting into the foliage denied her her little right of passage.

Ordo's eyes scanned the images in his HUD. On Dxun if you weren't careful you could end up some creatures lunch and sometimes even if you were carefull. He kept his Ripper out and held in a modified weaver stance, a term that would be lost on 80% of the people who read it.
He switched to internal comms to avoid attracting more attention than their arrival already had.

"Head around that tree." He said as he kept watch, "if we head into jungle we should have enough cover."

He began moving toward the tree line and rhe jungle beyond. His grey-green eyes blinked to infrared mode as he entered the low light jungle. Then cycled vision modes to try and pick up something. His HUD would work for most creatures but not for the night hunters that called this place home.

"The biggest thing I know of here is the zakkeg." He said quietly. "But they tend to kill first and ask questions later."

Jatie did as she was instructed as quickly was humanly possible. Around the tree, into the underbrush. She scanned left, right, and then left again, using her helmet's HUD and light filtration to have even the vaguest idea of what was going on in the dark Dxun jungle. When she was satisfied that it was safe, she took a knee and kept her vision down-range, waiting for her new companion to walk into sight without turning to find him. If she dropped her eyes, she wouldn't be able to see any approaching company.

When the huge man walked past her peripheral vision, she stood and followed after him, keeping her vision moving, strafing back and forth to make sure she didn't get surprised again. 'This is basic stuff, Jatie. How could you forget?' Welp. Enough thinking about how she'd failed repeatedly. The thing to worry about at the moment was a proper hunt and triumphant return.

Just to keep communication going between them, Jatie continued speaking through her comm, though more idly than purposefully. "Not worried about death. Too concerned with staying alive." She snapped her vision back to the man's other side, trying to make sure they weren't being approached from any angle. "So long as it's a decent kill on something that you wouldn't expect from some verd'goten hunt, it doesn't matter how big or dangerous. I'll take what comes."

Ordo stalked through the huge ferns and other dense flora as he lead the young Mando along the way. He had a few ideas aboit where to go. There were caves around here somewhere as well and he knew that if htey didn't bump into something soon something would damn sure bump into them.

"Stay sharp and you'll bring home enough trophies to satisfy anyone." He said quietly through the interal comms.
