Above the oceans of GENETIA...

The trip from Hoth to Genetia was much shorter than their initial trek from the Core, but it still felt like a journey nonetheless for Elias. It had been many years since he last visited his homeworld, and his eagerness to see the ocean could hardly be contained. He'd returned after being Knighted by the NJO to share the triumph with his family in person. He spent the better part of a month on Genetia, against the better judgment of the Order perhaps, but it was a month he cherished deeply.

It seemed quite befitting that Genetia would be where Orson takes the next step in his Jedi training: Building his first lightsaber, and officially becoming a Padawan Learner.

Elias nearly jumped with excitement as the Calypso popped out of hyperspace and the blue-green visage of his homeworld came into view. The majority of Genetia's surface was covered in vast, deep oceans. What little landmass there was had long been set aside for the wildlife; The Genetians, much like the Kaminoans of Tipoca City, took to ocean-rise settlements. The Calypso soared through the cloudy sky, catching rays of sunshine that peaked behind a passing storm. Elias flew the ship close to the waves, laughing like a youngling as the ocean spray doused the glass. He looked to Orson, not even trying to hide his boyish grin.

"This is my home," he said, a mix of pride and nostalgia in his tone.

"This is Genetia."

They cruised above the ocean waves for a short while before the shape of a large city came into view; Its rounded architecture and sleek design were unique to the nautical people of Genetia, specially constructed to withstand the waves and hurricanes that would batter other structures. Elias brought the ship around, lowering it onto a circular landing pad that extended from the main building.

"We're here!" the Jedi said, turning to face his Padawan. "Are you ready?" He then raised a curious eyebrow.

"Is your crystal ready?"

Orson stood in his room for most of the joruney to Genetia, holding the Crystal in his hand, occasinally rolling it around and inspecting it. He wasn't sure why exactly, afterall at the moment it was little more than a Crystal at this moment, but it held his attention far more than he had expected it to. He imagined it was likely due to the sheer effort he had to go through in order to get it, but he wasn't sure.

Moments before the ship left hyperspace, Orson emerged from his room and walked down towards the cockpit, looking forwards out of the window. It certinaly looked like a change of pace from both his home planet, and Hoth. His eyes scanned over the oceans for a few moments, before looking back towards Elias. "Looks nice." before returning his gaze back to the oceans, squinting as he made out what looked to be a city in the distance. The Padawan shrugged his coat off, slinging it over his shoulder for the mean time.

He wasn't entierly sure how ready he was, as he didn't really know what went into building a light saber, but he doubted it be more strenous than actually retrieving the crystal. After a brief moments pause, he responded with a nod, and said. "Yeah, I should be ready." There hints of hesitation in his tone initially, but once he continued, it was all gone and he sounded confident. "My Crystal is ready, yeah."

Then let's begin,” Elias said. He led the way from their ship, pausing for a moment to enjoy the salty air of the Genetian seas. The ocean breeze carried many fond memories with it, but there would be time later for reminiscing.

"Your lightsaber is made of several important components," Elias explained as they entered the main hall. "You're allotted a fair amount of freedom in its design, but there are three primary pieces of every lightsaber: The hilt, switch, and emitter."

He flashed Orson a smile, adding, "And, of course, your new kyber crystal."

Elias led the way through the enclave, noting a few of the settlement's amenities as they went; The Jedi quarters where they'd retire in the evening, the cantina, a meditation chamber, and finally the workshop. It would be here that Orson would find the lightsaber components he needed to construct his weapon.

"Right." Orson nodded at Elias, before following after him.

Orson lagged behind slightly, taking his time with taking in the sights, the salty air a new sensation for him, as was generally being in this sort of environment. It was surprising to him, but pleasantly so, taking one final moment to look out over the ocean, before speeding up to catch up with Elias. He remained silent as he described the process of building a lightsaber, only occasionally offering a small nod, instead beginning to think up his own design.

There were many types of hilts, but he barley understood the merit of any of them, why was a curved hilt so different to a normal one for instance? He hadn't a clue, but it was probably something worth bringing up before committing to any design. As Elias spoke of the crystal, Orson returned the smile, idly turning the crystal over in his hand once again.

Finally upon reaching the work station, Orson stepped immediately out and stopped in front of the work station, gently placing his crystal down onto the the station. He fished around in a few sets of draws for a moment, finally placing down everything besides the hilt. "How do I know what kind of hilt works for me? I've saw curved hilts, straight hilts, or even double ended hilts.. Is it just aesthetic or does it truly matter which I use?" Purely an aesthetic difference would be ideal, but despite having asked, Orson already knew that they would offer slightly different functionality.

A bit of both," Elias said. He reached for his own lightsaber and placed in on the workstation for Orson to examine. It was impressively natural looking for a highly advanced piece of equipment. Its hilt was made of ornately carved driftwood, accentuated with bits of jade and whalebone. As Orson had pointed out, there were several designs for the blade apparatus itself; Elias' was a single-bladed lightsaber with a straight hilt.

"Some Jedi may go for flashy designs, but I tend to encourage a lightsaber that compliments your personal style. The length, weight, shape - it all should serve to bolster your techniques. The added flair," he said, brushing his thumb over the whalebone and giving the Padawan a smile, "is just a bonus."

Elias stepped back a bit, crossing his arms nonchalantly as he watched Orson explore the workshop. He stayed close by, unoccupied to answer questions and provide guidance, but this was largely an independent task. This was, by far, one of the most rewarding experiences of being a Jedi Master, and Elias never grew tired of guiding Padawans through this process.
