This Won't Hold up in Court But....

Kei walked.

He assumed that the Royal Advisor had headed back to his office after the minister meeting. Kei had attempted to catch Adron as he went through the door but had just missed him. He didn't know where the man had gone after that, his office was the only likely option. Kei didn't know enough about him to know any of his local hang out spots, or his local hidey holes depending on the situation.

It was a stupid theory. It was a theory that would never hold up in court. Amelia Sorenn-Syrush had no reason to kill herself, the bounties on her were pointless. Kei had one on her for her safe capture but he didn't want her dead. She deserved to face trial for nearly killing him, he would have happily tortured the former Minster of Defense but he didn't want her dead.

He needed her.

It was a dumb theory that her "assassination" had been set up. They had even reported that no pulse had been found on the female. There was no evidence that would hold up in court, nothing Kei had on her would hold up in court. But it was a theory he needed advice on, the entire attack seemed too forumlated to be a random occurence. How did they know Amelia would be in the office at the exact same Kay and Kei were?

Plus, the table incident. Amelia had thrown a table at him, Kei was sure of it. The CCTV from the office had shown that she had. It had at least shown her gripping the table before it was thrown. It had shown her face the window as the shooting began. Why would she have done that unless there was a plan, unless she knew that there was about to be lots of gunfire on her.

Kei wanted to find the gunships.

He was sure they would be registered. Either to Commenor or Amelia herself. The Dutchman had scanned every corner of Commenor and The Detail had searched most of the corners. They had found no traces of the gunships, but they would keep hunting until Kei told them to stop or Kay told Kei to stop. Those gunships were the key to getting the full picture here.

He knocked.

Adron had just made it to his office, his hands already filled with a stack of papers before he could even take his seat. The meeting with the Ministers and gone as Adron had imagines. He was not impressed, nor was he disappointed. His eyes scanned over a series of reports that he had requested from the security department. Nothing to deal with Amelia’s death, yet things he needed to know to be sure Kay was safe. After all, an assassination just happened, had the target been Kay, she would likely be dead.

A knock erupted at his door, causing the two Imperial Sentinels standing guard to turn their heads in investigation. Rolling his eyes at the duo, Adron could sense a familiar signature beyond the door. Setting the stack of papers on the door, Adron gestured for the guards to allow the man passage.

While they opened the door, gesturing for Kei to enter, Adron turned to a small mini bar installed in the corner of his office. The necessities of his many stations. “Kei. How can I help you?” He asked the man, gesturing to the bar cart. “Perhaps some Serennoan Vodka will do the trick?” He said, only half-joking.

Alcohol wouldn't go amiss.

Kei held a small thumb drive in his grip. He offered it to Adron so he could load it while they spoke. It contained the CCTV footage of the office the day of the assassination that had nearly killed the Queen and Naval Advisor. He had kept it close for days, kept it on a chain around his neck so that he wouldn't loose the only evidence he had that backed up his theory, added any sort of credibility to said theory.

Even Adron would be able to tell that Kei was serious. Normally he would have been all over Serennoan Vodka, or any alcohol, but he wasn't even focused on the bar cart. He locked his eyes on the screen in the office, shaking his head. He was used to nearly dying, he just hated the person who tried to kill him. This time, the person was someone who he trusted, who he trusted to keep him and Commenor safe. She had failed both of those.

"Amelia Sorenn-Syrush killed herself to prove a point"

No introduction needed. No greeting needed. Not even a dramatic buildup and Kei was all for the dramatic buildup. He just dropped it on Adron, he didn't even mean to. He meant to dramatically build up, he'd just been overcome by the hatred for the former Minster of Defence. He didn't know how Adron would react, Kei could only hope he would believe him due to the ties they both shared elsewhere in the galaxy.

"The theory is stupid, but the proof is on that thumb drive"

Instinctively, Adron grabbed a small bottle of Serrenoan vodka and two glasses, placing them on the side of the desk as Kei approached, holding a thumb drive out to the man. Without a word, Adron would take the flash drive from the man, plugging it into the terminal hooked into his desk. The data began to load, as it did the Imperial poured the two a small glass of Vodka, slightly chilled.

As the holoemitter projected the events in a 3D image shaded in a blue hue, Adron kept his eyes locked on the image. As Kei spoke once again, this time accusing Amelia of staging her own slaughter, Adron held one of the cups to Kei, his own face holding a Stoic demeanor.

“This is a serious accusation.” He stated, before eyeing the footage closely. Adron paused the image, only so he could rewind it and see it from the beginning, this time at a different angle. The young man had never invested in coincidence, and there was much of it behind this film. Surely he could see Kei’s point, however he was skeptical of the theory the man had.

“Kei. This isn't enough for proof… Just for a theory.” He said, before turning to the man. He would take a shallow sip from his glass, the rushing heat blazing down his throat as he drank the liquor. “Her death was… Interestingly timed. But there is nothing to say it was her planning.” He said.

Kei shook his head.

He believed, he wanted to believe that Amelia had killed herself. The entire assassination was too clean, had gone off with no issue. A regular assassination wouldn't have been that clean, there was no way that the assassination would have been that clean. Amelia had killed herself to get away, something had happened prior to Kei's entry to that office. She didn't have a pulse, there were medications that could do that.

"You saw her throw the table at me"

Kei chose to rewind the image, showing the High Moff how Amelia had gripped the table before it flew across the room towards Kei. He sipped the drink Adron had given him, shaking his head again. He couldn't get his thoughts straight, something had happened in that office and Kei didn't know what. Kei wanted to know what was going on, why the Queen of Commenor had nearly died and why he had nearly died.

"What about the message she sent? Only minutes before, the message she sent resigning from her role. You can't tell me that isn't enough evidence to at least investigate this. I'm telling you, I swear on the force Adron. I swear on Ra, on Bast Castle that something doesn't add up in this situation"

Watching as Kei rewinded the footage once again, the Imperial gave a soft huff as he placed a hand on his chin. Adron glanced over to Kei, nodding silently before taking another sip from his glass. While the evidence was… Minimal at best, it was a valid start. While Adron was not entirely convinced, the man was content in supporting the man.

“The Minister of Security is in charge of this investigation.” He said, as if ending the conversation, yet there was more to be said. “But, my office can look into it as well. I'm not entirely sure what we will find, if anything. But, if Amelia was behind this, it would not do well for any of us. Let me speak with Kay about allowing my men to handle the investigation. They are a bit more… Efficient than the Minister.”

Kei nodded.

Amelia posed a threat to Kay. She posed a threat to Kei. The man needed someone competent to look into the situation and there was no way that The Minster of Security was the person for that. He wasn't useless, however he wouldn't look for the obvious facts, the obvious signs that this was a set up. The security wouldn't focus on the very obvious signs that showed that Amelia had killed herself, for that was the only thing that made sense.

"At least someone competent will look into it. You know I wouldn't have come to you about this unless I was one hundred percent sure that Amelia had set this up. I think she killed herself and meant to take me or Kay out in the process. She's dangerous, she should never have been given the position that she was given. She was banned from Alderaan because she's dangerous. Any resources of mine you require, they're yours"

Downing the rest of his drink, Adron turned to set the glass back on the abr before looking to Kei. “If Amelia staged this, I will find out. That I can promise you.” He told Kei.

A thought occurred. Adron knew little of the species that the former Minister belonged to. He understood they were some manner of energy vampire, yet their skills and abilities eluded him. He would have to make an effort to learn just what the woman would be capable of. Turning to Kei, he arched a brow before speaking once more. “What do you know of Amelia’s species? I'm not familiar with them in the slightest.”

Kei raised an eyebrow.

He had always assumed Amelia was Commenori, he hadn't known she had been of a different race. He hadn't known she'd been of a race that most of the galaxy was unfamiliar with. He hardly ever saw her though and that was probably the reason why he had never known. Kei had spoken to the minister of defense twice, both times he'd nearly been killed by her. They had never had a friendly relationship, or any relationship at at all.

Amelia was dangerous, that was pretty obvious. She had lead a war on Alderaan, she had a large number of boundies placed against her. She was barred from Alderaan as well as whatever other planets had a vendetta against her. She had angered a large number of people and had annoyed so many others. Her companies had their assests burned, or other assets belonging to her were being hunted down and burned or destroyed.

"I know nothing about them. I thought she was Commenori"

A soft exhaled escaped Adron before he looked to Kei with a small smile. "Amelia is not human. No, I have heard rumors of House Sorenn-Syrush. If they are correct, Amelia is a type of energy vampire. Much like an old acquaintance of mine."

Branching away from the conversation, Adron deactivated the holoemitter, taking the usb and handing it back to Kei. "I will look into it." He promised, rubbing a hand over his chin, taking a moment to ponder before eyeing Kei once more. "There has been a lot of...activity going on lately for a system as quiet as Commenor." It caused Adron to wonder if there was more behind the assassination than he knew of already. "With the King all but banished and a Minister dead this does not look well. Please, my friend. Keep your eyes open." Adron urged.
