STRENGTHS AND WEAKNESSES:
- Superhuman Strength - Thistlecrown is capable of great feats of strength, from breaking sturdy metal items to fighting other strong opponents to lifting and flailing around ten armored warriors with comparative ease.
- Superhuman Durability - The skin of Thistlecrown is composed entirely of a dense and durable wood, thus allowing him to easily sustain large amounts of damage from firearms, melee weapons and explosions.
- Body Manipulation - Thistlecrown has the ability to change his physical form, and shape his body in various ways. He can also manipulate his body to form organic constructs that he uses as tools or weapons.
- Elasticity - Thistlecrown can extend any part of his body to make himself longer. He can make himself taller and extend his fingers and arms.
- Flora Regeneration - Thistlecrown is able to grow flowers and leaves out of his palms.
- Body Shield - Thistlecrown can coat his arms in a shell seemingly composed entirely of twigs. The resulting shield is bulletproof.
- Vine Tendrils - Thistlecrown is able to create and manipulate many vine-like appendages to interact with objects or people.
- Light Generation - Thistlecrown, like every other Kindalo, is naturally bioluminescent, and can additionally create bioluminescent spores that provide light.
- Flammable - Being a creature of wood and flora, Thistlecrown is highly flammable and incredibly weak to fire-related abilities.
- Limited Air Exposure - Kindalo are unable to live within unfiltered surface air, as their unique biology makes it incredibly toxic to their bodies. While the engineering done to create Thistlecrown was designed to remedy this (and, to a certain extent, they did), he is only able to go a few days or even hours above ground, depending on the planet's atmosphere. This makes outside engagement a constant danger to Thistlecrown, as being stranded on a planet without easy access to dark underground caverns can quickly spell out his death.
- Empty Soul - Thistlecrown's biology makes the use of healing salves, foods and any technologically involved methods of healing null. If he were to sustain any intense injuries his body is incapable of regenerating, Thistlecrown's mixed genes would force him to rely on other healing plants or to remain outside to photosynthesize. As discussed above, this is incredibly risky, as sunlit areas along the surface are toxic after a certain length of time, meaning Thistlecrown has a limited amount of time to heal before needing to retreat.
- Trusting Soul - Thistlecrown is not the brightest tool in the shed, and presents himself as a very outgoing and friendly being. While this makes him an inviting and welcoming friend, he is very easily manipulated, tricked and guilted into performing work for others. Thistlecrown has no concept of good or evil, and can potentially be put under villainous care without knowing.
- Symbiotic Link - In order to communicate and heal the flora around him, Thistlecrown's body harmonizes with them and creates something of a link between them. Harming the flora in an area that Thistlecrown is in will also deal damage to him, making it a risky move to engage in combat during plant-heavy areas.
- Gentle Giant - While Thistlecrown is capable of incredibly powerful feats, he is a lover more than a fighter, and rarely likes to use his abilities to harm people. Under certain circumstances, this can lead to him downright refusing to retaliate under fire, resulting in a very, very damaged Kindalo.
APPEARANCE:
Thistlecrown's body makes an excellent home for a variety of flora and even fauna, and isn't uncommon for avians to construct their nests on him.
PERSONALITY:
In stark contrast to most Kindalo, who tend to be wary, condescending and distrusting of visitors, Thistlecrown is an actively outgoing and friendly soul due to his unique upbringing around people. Thistlecrown speaks in 'broken' third-person Basic, which helps compliment his somewhat forgetful and oblivious nature, painting him as a warm but clueless face. While preferring to remain at the side of the plants he communicates with, Thistlecrown is nonetheless willing to try and make as many friends as possible, whether they be good or evil. He believes there is good in everyone, and he seeks to give those around him as many chances as possible to be selfless, positive souls, no matter their actions. While his overly friendly demeanour may charm or annoy people, Thistlecrown is a natural at handling plants and creatures, his gentle and docile nature considered soothing for a lot of organics. He is completely unfamiliar with droids and similar technology, sharing a confused but nonetheless willing approach to befriending them, somewhat intrigued by their behaviour. Thistlecrown has no knowledge on how to communicate with droids or operate vehicles and weapons, relying completely on his connection with nature to live his life.
BIOGRAPHY:
Due to the reserved and quiet nature of the Kindalo, xenobiologists were under the impression that not many existed. This led to recent organization to attempt to artificially inflate the numbers in order to boost the population. Arriving on the planet of Aleen, liberated after the Clone Wars, scientists were able to retrieve a generous amount of Kindalo samples in order to begin their procedure. During the trip, xenobiologists came to the conclusion that a Kindalo's natural weakness to surface air would hinder their chances at survival outside of the very specific underground of Aleen, and thus the experiment was swiftly altered - not only would they make an attempt at creating Kindalo life, but they would birth one immune to outside oxygen.
Over the course of two Galactic Standard Years, the Kindalo samplings were mixed and engineered alongside the DNA and chemicals of many surface dwelling beings, including several varieties of flora. Finally, after extreme modifications and miracles, the birth of the first genetically altered Kindalo was born, named Thistlecrown after the prickly plants used in his formula. His initial survival on the surface of Aleen were outstanding, a miracle in science, but after the first few rotations, Thistlecrown's health would begin crippling. In an emergency, he was subject to the underground caverns among the other native Kindalo, and further studying proved his condition along the surface as stable - but only temporarily.
Xenobiologists and scientists alike delved back into their work, monitoring Thistlecrown and occasionally checking on him as they attempt to create a permanent successor to him over the course of his life. Thistlecrown lived his life among the Kindalo, and spent days wandering the surface to converse with the Aleena. Growing up a social and chatty creature, Thistlecrown's life led a rather uneventful life.
That changed, however, during the day local xenobiologists had finally engineered the Kindalo's successor. Despite all the failed attempts, they struck success at last, and aimed to release it on Aleen. Before any movements were made, a foreign vessel landed on its surface. In no time at all, scientist after scientist were murdered in record time by an unknown model of assassin droid, promptly killing the birthed Kindalo. Worried the droid had come to destroy all advancements in their work, Thistlecrown was alerted of its presence by his handler and was instructed to make an escape. As the assassin made its way into the underground, Thistlecrown's family of Kindalo formed to block the droid's path in an attempt to buy him some time.
By the time Thistlecrown made it to the surface and aboard a small escape starship, the droid had managed to emerge, hundreds of Kindalo blood on its hands, sniping the remaining scientist and damaging the starship. As Thistlecrown's vessel was set to hyperspace, he watched in terror as the droid simply stared with an unblinking coldness.
Crash landing on the planet of Oon, Thistlecrown fled and remained in hiding, living amongst the planet's wildlife, intrigued by the migrated porgs. He'd watch from the sidelines as a young togruta made her way throughout the planet, silently following her as a means of knowing where to go, spending the nights hidden deep underground. Inspired by the woman's fascination with flora and fauna and her nomadic lifestyle, Thistlecrown set out to make the most of his new life and explore the vast regions of the galaxy, in hopes of making as many friends as possible. He just prayed he'd escaped that droid forever.
