- Cost-Effective Design - The Design of the vessel and the means of its construction greatly reduce the cost of producing the vessel.
- Rapid Repair - With standardized parts, simplistic design, and easily produced materials, the Tho Yor II Attack Vessel is easily repaired when it sustains damage. While minor repairs can be done by the crew, major repairs would still require the vessel to arrive at a Shipyard for any extensive repair require. However, repairs to the vessel often clock in at days or weeks, rather than months or years as seen with some other vessels.
- Heavy Hitter - The armament compliment that the Attack Vessel carries ensures that it is capable of dishing out punishment to vessels of similar classes, while also giving it the capability of standing toe-to-toe with some, lightly armed, Star Destroyers.
- Super-Structure Design - The vessel's design is separated into two parts; the central, pyramidal structure, and the outer superstructure. A small enough craft, such as a starfighter, has the potential of slipping between the gaps of these two structures and causing damage to the support system which holds the vessel together. This would potentially render the vessel defenseless - as the majority of its weapon systems are located on the superstructure - or potentially cause enough damage to destroy the vessel or leave it dead in the water.
- Slug for Slug - While more than capable of trading blows with Heavy Cruisers, and even smaller, less armed Star Destroyers; the Attack Vessel has trouble when dealing with smaller vessels such as Corvettes and Starfighters. Even with their defensive weaponry, fast-moving targets prove difficult to target and fire upon. This means that the vessel must often rely on friendly Starfighters and Escort Corvettes to screen against enemy starfighters.
Unlike its predecessor, the Tho Yor II focuses on its primary role as a Heavy Cruiser, rather than attempting to fill the gap and act in the capacity of a multitude of roles. Its primary focus is on heavy firepower, with an equally high defense to ensure that it is more than capable of staying in a long, prolonged conflict or fleet engagement. While it is more than capable of handling other Heavy Cruisers, and even standing toe-to-toe against lightly armed Star Destroyers - The Tho Yor II Attack Vessel has a marked weakness when it comes to dealing with small, fast-moving vessels. While it maintains a series of point defense laser cannons and flak guns to provide assistance, these are often utilized in defending against torpedoes, missiles, and mass driver munitions rather than tracking and destroying fast-moving vessels such as Starfighters and Corvettes. This brings up one of its larger weaknesses, in that these small vessels have the potential to slip between the outer superstructure of the vessel and its central pyramidal structure; with the smaller vessels having the potential of destroying the supporting structures that hold the outer superstructure to the central structure. With the supporting structures damaged or destroyed, it has the possibility of damaging, disabling, or potentially causing catastrophic damage to the vessel.
Some of its greatest strengths though are due to its design; with the Tho Yor II Attack Vessel being easily produced, and repairs being capable of pushing the vessel back into service within days or weeks rather than months or years in the cases of similar vessels. As mentioned this is due in part to how the vessels are designed and constructed; meaning that even some of the poorest worlds of the Confederacy are capable of fielding a handful of the Attack Vessels to defend their world. Whereas the Tho Yor II Warship is designed to land on worlds and establish itself as a fortress, the Attack Vessel lacks the capability of landing on a world without potentially causing damage or strain on the superstructure. Thus any cargo - albeit as limited as it is - must be moved between planets - or ships - to the Attack Vessel utilizing its squadron of support vessels that it carries.
All in all, even with the potential that the vessel has to be heavily damaged or knocked out of an engagement; its simplistic and cost-effective design, and the capability to rapidly produce and repair these vessels more than makes up for the drawbacks.
