Ringmaster
OOC: Greetings everybody!
I am having a bit of an identity crisis with Niyla so I went ahead and worked on her biography and I was wondering what others may think? So please tell me, and if you have any ideas that would make her more interesting or something along those lines it would be much appreciated.
Also this website is amazing and it is so great to be apart of! I know I am slow at responding sometimes but just because I am reading all the marvelous stories here.
I applaud you all.
Thank you so much for creating this community and the characters that fill it!
Niyla Ar'i was born into the traveling circus known as The Alura. She grew up a happy child, always wanting to walk the tightrope or hang on the edge of the Rancor pit. She loved the circus and couldn't imagine a better home.
Her mother was a zeltron who was more or less a one night stand to her father while the troupe was performing on Zeltros. Rayhe Ar'i, Niylas father was not a full blooded zeltron. He was born to a human and a zeltron, Niyla thought so at least as he had blue hair and red skin. Niyla only met her mother once but she assumed she got her looks from her, as she was a pink haired pink skinned zeltron.
Growing up along her circus brothers and sisters she learned many skills, it was a customary among the troupe to pick your ‘skills’ when you are young so you may train and master them by your teenage years for performing. Niyla picked dancing and animal handling, she was also not a bad tinkerer.
As she grew up she learned from many different teachers, but mostly her father. She learned how to juggle flaming swords, dance along an inch wide tightrope hanging over a tank of firaxan sharks, to cartwheel through flaming hoops, to command control of a dragon snake, and swing from the rafters with ease. She was certainly considered talented.
In her 12th year she began performing for an audience. Quickly she captivated the viewers. The way she moved and danced gained her wide recognition throughout the galaxy. When Niyla turned 17 her troupe was invited to perform in the Sith Capital. Usually they were sectioned off to smaller outer rim planets so this would have opened up a whole new avenue of inner rim worlds for the circus to perform for.
Their big show on Coruscant was when things really changed. Niyla remembers the moment like it was yesterday, etched into her mind for eternity. It was a chilly night on Coruscant. While she was waiting for her act to begin she watched the show as a few Twi'Leks messed with her hair and makeup. Her circus brother Naihaya was doing his own act of beast handling. She would have never known what was happening until it was too late if it were not for the bantha he was holding. During the act the bantha let out a loud scream as a black robed figure interrupted the performance.
The cry continued for a few moments until all the sudden it was silence. Except for the buzzing of a lightsaber. It was an image Niyla would never forget, an image of the poor banthas head rolling to the floor.
"Do not be alarmed Circus attenders. I am only here as I was directed of a force sensitive in the ship. If you know who they are, please say so now. And I will let you live, withhold this information from me and I will start executing those among you." He said, his voice so crisp and soft.
Niyla didn't know who the force sensitive was, she just hoped this moment would pass. Suddenly she heard the door from behind her booth crack and her father emerged, tears running down his face. "My daughter..." He said in a whisper, grabbing 17 year old Niyla by the shoulders and hugging her. "It's you…"
These words would never leave her memory.
All she remembered after that was being taken to a small shuttle and being smuggled into the underworld or Coruscant. This was really all a blur, she must have passed out.
Her last images of her father and the Circus was of it being engulfed in flames.
Two years later when Niyla would be 19, she spends her time dancing in cantinas and showing off magic tricks on the streets for credits. She had settled into a smaller town located in the 17th level, section C block A. She made enough credits to afford a small house sectioned off into the corner of the town.
Her zeltron charm made her some friends, though she was mostly thought of as a circus freak by those on her level, as she had grown accustomed to that lifestyle.
Though without any real amount of credits she would have no way out of the underworld, the sky would taunt the young lady some days, the memory of her life in the circus haunting her on long sleepless nights.
One particular day, whilst Niyla was rushing to get to her ‘spot’, hoping that it would not be taken by another street performer, she ran into a rather suspicious masked fellow. (http://starwarsrp.net/topic/72606-surprise-encounter/page-2#entry1078445) Unaware of the fact that this man may potentially change her life. After challenging her to a swords dual in the local dojo he invited her to come along with him to Nar Shadda. The adventure was probably nothing big to an explorer like Malik but to Niyla it was a huge deal.
Soon enough the two found themselves on the criminal world, not much different from the underworld. ( http://starwarsrp.net/topic/72879-off-to-nar-shadda/page-2#entry1083071)There Niyla would come across her circuses old ship, she knew it was left away after what happened but she knew not where. Finding her old ship inspired her to rebuild the Alura Traveling Circus and start a new life for herself.
Rightfully claiming the title of Ringmaster, as her ancestors before her had. She fixed the circus ship, and took off on a quest to find performers seeking adventure, glory, and fame!
She found many to join her on her quest, first inducting the masked fellow who saved her from the depths of the underworld, Malik, he was a gentlemen and Niyla loved picking on him. She was happy to have him onboard.
Later in the week while she was repairing her ship, she met the karking James Justice, a rough fellow who reeked of alcohol, though, he wasn’t all that bad. Once she got over that outer accent she kinda liked him. After a long talk on how to correctly fix a leaking pipe he too was inducted into the group.
Soon enough, as in the next day, she met Shawn Withers. The survivor. She put Shawn and Justice into a pit with a dragon snake, made a day out of it and she as well joined, much to Niylas surprise after the extremes she may have put them in.
Soon a creature named Milo, along with Sith acolyte accomplice Udrusa came along for the ride. And only weeks after them a rather crazy gungan Niyla had caught blowing up shipments for the fun of it, she thought he would make a great comedian. And he did!
More will come upon Niylas quest. Though the young ringmaster had learned a few things in the past months, performing was expensive. Paying for the animals food and care, along with the cost of renting, and pay for the sets, explosives, and fuel was definitely not cheap, and the credits she was given for her show was not bringing in enough. She thought perhaps she could make a few credits smuggling for patrons, well a few became a lot, and a lot became a ton.
In only a few months Niyla had enough credits she could bath in them. It was absurd how well the circus was a cover up for her business, perhaps absurd, but it was also saddening. It had turned her small circus into just a cover up for a much larger operation, and she was caught into it, not only did she love it, but she had partners, and contracts. She couldn’t stop if she wanted.
Niyla is now a well known smuggler, her troupe still performs, yet it is rare. She has a name now as well, many people know her as the ringmaster across the galaxy.
Sure, she had made many a profit off of this ‘little’ business of hers, but what’s next?
Well, the young ringmaster is becoming ever more aware of her talent in the force, and she intends to learn more about it. Among her smuggling she is now searching for a teacher to craft her sensitivity.
I am having a bit of an identity crisis with Niyla so I went ahead and worked on her biography and I was wondering what others may think? So please tell me, and if you have any ideas that would make her more interesting or something along those lines it would be much appreciated.
