Deep in the vast mystery of the Unknown Regions was a world forgotten by the rest of the galaxy, it was far enough into the unknown that it couldn't be found on any standard galaxy map. The world of Zarr was well known in the exotic ecosystem of the unknown as a somewhat popular safe outpost and smuggler's refuge that grew larger and larger as more peoples settled there. It was well known for its beautiful landscapes that were bathed in the twilight of shadow, as a majority of day's were spent in complete shadow with only the moon's illuminating presence shedding light on the world below.
It was known for its temperate, windy climate as well as frequent bouts of fog that swept over vast portions of the planet. Its vegetation grew but without a greater presence of light it's forests were dark and occasionally rocky places that in the dense zones even light from the moon could not pierce the thick canopy. It was the perfect world of discretion and subtlety, the ideal place for anyone to flee to and hide in its shadows its darkness was oddly beautiful, almost serene.
The capital Drinor City began as a small outpost of a few structures around a spaceport that evolved over generations into quite the sizeable city with a distinctly gothic architecture the one thing that the world's many diverse cultures shared with each their own unique variations. In ages past Zarr might never have become what it was if it weren't for the infamously known Yog-Suuli Kajidic whose criminal empire spanned a vast portion of the sector at their height. Zarr was the perfect smuggling world that became key in their spice distribution empire that shipped megatons of spice into the outer rim all running through Zarr and Drinor City.
A series of catastrophic wars however culminated in their empire's fracturing at their capital causing their once great empire to come crashing down and never would they reach such heights again. Zarr became the center of a brutal conflict between rival kajidics and splinter factions all vying for control, but only one came out on top. It was Nyarga Yog-Suuli Glaaki, Nyarga the Dauntless, Nyarga Seven-Wars, Student of Narr'ahazii became the Overlord of Zarr taking control of the world he ruled for the kajidic for centuries after fighting seven wars simultaneously to come out on top. Ever since that devastating fall he has ruled. The greatest event in recent memory was close to a century ago during a period of strife when his second in command a houk named Underlord Baal attempted to seize power in a brutal struggle in which for a short period of days it was thought that Nyarga had died. The Dauntless survived however and once again restored order smashing the coup, and sending Baal fleeing into the dark forests in hiding from the wrath of the legendary Overlord.
A tip drew the Inquisitor Belphaegor to Zarr after a target of the inquisition, a traitor among the ranks of the Sith that had barely evaded the raid to capture him and fled into the vastness of the Unknown Regions to hide. For weeks there was no leads until word reached them from informants that he had been spotted on Zarr, the figures alias's coming up in the local regime's records. So the native of such an unknown area of space was sent out to find and bring this traitor in one way or another.
After reaching Drinor City it didn't take long before a few strange occurrences drew his attention. Even before his arrival he discovered that they had been dealing with a vast string of sudden disappearances. A mixture of abductions and people just plain vanishing. A crime spree in the lawless parts of the world hardly stuck out, until the bodies dropped. They were horrifically mutilated, eaten things spread out in disturbing scenes. Only few of the many who vanished were ever found in such a state and as people came and went it became harder and harder to distinguish between travel and trouble.
A very common problem began circulating as many often lost track of time whether it was minutes, hours, even days that just suddenly vanished from memory without a clue as to what they did. A great surge in crime came in the oddest ways as fatalities climbed all with the only link between them being brutality and proclamations of innocence. Contacts behind closed doors would tell him during all of these interviews the victims claimed ludicrous stories of horrific nightmares, terrifying images and terribly loud sounds and noises that just wouldn't go away. All the while the bodies kept dropping the walls marked with ritualistic symbols all across Drinor City and the cannibal problem became front page news, as the usual light fog came in thicker and thicker during these long nights.
To an individual like Belphaegor he could pierce behind the veil that shrouded the connections between these events. It became clear to him that something was very, very wrong. Until one day word spread through the enforcement arm of Zarr's regime right to him that a suspect was caught near a body covered in blood. The man said nothing merely rocking back and forth with a thousand yard stare wreathed in insanity. The only thing the individual had said was a proclamation: "Mg'uulwi Ya'zid-rah, eth'razzqi worg zz oou!" Whereupon he tore out his own throat with his bare hands.
Still no trace of this mysterious traitor anywhere. He was logged coming into the world but never when leaving, he had simply arrived and vanished. Two weeks after the mysterious encounter with the crazed suspect a local contact reached out to the Inquisitor "We found your traitor. I'll send you the location I need you to come to me...y-you need to see this." The chief investigator asked him.
Something was very wrong in his voice.
