Threatening Members of SWRP

The following applies to Skype and SWRP.

1. Death threats, whether in jest or not, will result in an immediate suspension pending investigation. SWRP Staff reserves the right to uphold your suspension indefinitely until a proper investigation is held.

2. Threats against other members that can be interpreted as "real" or "IRL (in real life)" will result in an immediate suspension pending investigation.

I know how it is when you're joking...but if you're not careful around people who are uncomfortable with it, it will get back to us, and we (Staff) will take action.

For the victims, save logs, have witnesses, and report.

[member="Tefka"] I understand here but isn't Skype kind of a bit far for enforcing Board rules and policies? I mean you tha boss, just doesn't make much sense to me to push our influence to everywhere else.

Look at it this way: If I went on skype and spammed some BS to you through PMs that you got sick of to the point where you wanted something, somewhere done to make me stop, or at least to punish me for what i'm doing, here we are.

A death threat is a very serious thing, it should be treated seriously. To turn a blind eye to something like that just because it happens on skype or AIM or something can be considered criminal neglect in the US if that other person actually ends up trying to fulfill their threat.

It's as simple as this:

SWRP isn't just a roleplaying forum... it's a roleplaying community. Communities look out for and care for their own, and our community does extend beyond the forum itself and into Skype, predominantly. We've all been there for each other when times have been bad in our lives. Even I credit this community and its members for being there with its support when I've hit a bump in my road, as have so many others that I know.

We care, because we're human beings, and if you're saying it's none of our business to do so, to be human, then... well, I'm sorry you feel that way.

Most people trust me to do my job and to do it well. Part of that is being able to assess a situation for what it really is, and not for what the more dramatic members of the community would like to turn it into.

The world isn't so black and white that everyone who makes an offcolored remark gets sent to the FBI (like I think they'd do anything).

Do I think enforcing SWRP rules on Skype is a bit far? Yeah, I do. And I wish I didn't have to, but its the only thing keeping the dumber members of this community civil - because they know there can be consequences.

Is it within my right to enforce SWRP rules on SWRP members' behavior on Skype? Yeah, it is. And I wish I didn't have to exercise it.

I don't know how to contact the FBI, nor do I ever want to be in the situation where I need to. If someone threatens my life, I'd rather notify the community they are a part of so they do not try to do the same to others. People who act that way are a cancer, there is no excuse for that behavior.
