- Rate of Fire: Low | Semi-Automatic
- Stopping Power: Extreme (High against droids and synthetic targets.)
- Recoil: High
- Alternate fire mode
- Waterproof and highly resilient in extreme environments, including the vacuum of space.
- Extreme stopping power against organic targets.
- Alternate fire mode for CQC and massed targets.
- Being bio-based, the weapon is practically immune to the effects of EMPs and infantry scale ion weapons. (Could still potentially be shocked by something capital grade.)
- Small ammo capacity for its class.
- Semi-Automatic with high recoil, preventing spam potential.
- Alt fire mode comes at the cost of greatly reduced range.
- It loses much of its punch when deployed against droids and synthetics since its poison effects are virtually useless, but the initial projectile and wires themselves can still inflict damage, especially against delicate wiring and sensitive components.
The Thresher carbine was a personal design of Balarac Lord Commander himself, using uncovered alien artifacts from Shatterstar to construct a deadly frontline infantry weapon for the growing cohort of marauding warriors. It fires living flailing biot projectiles that can wreak havoc on troop concentrations and individual targets alike.
The carbine and projectiles are wholly organic, constructed from layers of laminated bony chitin furniture and muscle loaders refashioned from alien arachnids. Mini dovin-basals line the inner rails of the carbine, creating alternating bands of attractive gravitic fields that accelerate projectiles forward. The Thresher biots too, are mutated arachnids reshaped to function as projectiles. Thorny appendages along their body secret strands of monofilament wire constructed of silk, and the wire itself is coated in powerful cytotoxins that inflict excruciating pain and necrosis.
When dormant, the Thresher biots cocoon themselves in this venomous silk, creating a bullet like projectile ideal for piercing armor and shields. Direct impact from a dormant Thresher projectile can be deadly in itself, but the real damage comes as the thresher as it becomes active and unfurls its wire and flicks its appendages, flailing about from within or right outside the target. They are shredded by wire whose damage is exacerbated by cell bursting toxins. Even if the Threshers are neutralized before they can cause fatal damage, the debilitating pain and ongoing necrosis is lasting without additional medical treatment.
A broken soldier is as good as dead.
The Thresher features an alternate mode where the Thresher is activated just before launch. It flails its deadly strands about its body, slicing anything it flies past. Threshers fired in alt mode aren't quite as deadly, and have much less range, but they're still excellent for maiming, suppression, and make a mess of soft or lightly armored targets in CQC.
